WIW: Grey, white & wedge sneakers

Statutory holiday today so no work - but I'm heading out to the mall to make a couple of returns for DS and DH (they're busy spreading grass seed in the rain so I volunteered to make their returns for them - they are also getting pickier with their clothes which is making their wardrobes more useful - YAY for YLF "rub-off"!).

Today's outfit is easy and very casual - my grey sized up JS skinnies paired with a Gap slouchy dolman short-sleeved grey & white tee. Don't you just love the feel of soft 100% cotton against the skin? I've semi-tucked the tee and added my wide white leather belt, both for fashion reasons and to keep my pants up!

I'm wearing my Sakura wedge sneakers, which I've worn several times on the weekends. They are ridiculously comfortable and I love them. Definitely one of my favourite thrift purchases. Added my white watch and away I go.

What do you think? Too sloppy or just right? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: CM Floral Moto

The Club Monaco floral moto jacket arrived yesterday - I tried it on last night, fell in love and ripped the tags of. No Keep/Return necessary. This one fits perfectly - and for the record, I can zip it up just fine and it looks great.

Since sometime during the last year I joined Team Wear, I'm showing this beauty off today for Denim Day. I've popped it on over a plain white v-neck tee, semi tucked into my Gap sexy BF's with a wide white belt. On my feet are the perforated bone oxfords and I'm carrying my light cream handbag.

Have I mentioned I LOVE LOVE LOVE this jacket! Angie and Anna - you were sooooo right :)

Happiness scale? Immeasurable.

Now for a bit of advice please - would appreciate some styling suggestions on what else to wear the floral moto with. There are obvious choices like over my black sheath dress and my ink blue lace dress, white jeans...what else?

So what do you think of this outfit? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Club Monaco
Tee and jeans: Gap
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Handbag: Danier Leather

P.S. I just realized that three of the items I'm wearing today are Angie picks (jacket, jeans, shoes)...I wonder if that's why the happiness scale is so high???

WIW: Denim Shirt & Blondos

Good morning all - it is a GORGEOUS morning here! I hope it's a beautiful day where you are too :)

Today I've paired a western-inspired denim shirt with my taupe knit pencil skirt. I like the wash of this denim shirt and the pearl buttons - gives it a vintage feel even though it's new. For footwear, I'm debuting my new Blondo sandals (a recent Angie pick) in brown & sand. They have a great footbed, manageable heel height, and are on-trend high vamp. Love them.

I'm also debuting a recently thrifted summer straw-type handbag. It's by Creazoni Italy and I adore the woven strips that alternate between straw and suede. It also has a fabulous Bakelite faux bone finished handle. A great neutral little bag for summer.

Because the rest of the outfit is all neutrals, I've popped on my vintage pink Bakelite bangle for a pop of color.

I'm happy with how this turned out - what do you think? does it work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: White & Teal

My love for white knows no bounds right now - I feel like wearing a bit of it every single day.

I'm not entirely sure this works. I'm wearing my sized up white skinnies rolled as BF's. These are getting quite big on me now and will no longer stay on without a belt. If I do the belt up one less notch I can "scootch" the jeans down my hips a bit and get a dropped crotch. These jeans also bag out and wrinkle significantly about half way through the day so I thought I could take advantage of that slightly messy look they get and make them BF's instead. Does it work?

I've paired the bottoms with a recently purchased linen-silk blend teal light weight sweater. It feels heavenly on and I thought it would be a good piece for the days that aren't to hot or the A/C in my office is trying to freeze me. It's already a bit slouchy in style so works great for a faux tuck.

This is the debut of my Dolce Vita bone laser cut oxfords. LOVE these shoes! I like how they are both feminine and masculine at the same time.

For jewelry, I'm wearing the birthday gift necklace from my hubby & son and my handbag is my light cream satchel.

So what do you think? Does this all work together? How are the proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

I've also added a pic of my new spring/summer lipstick. I decided to go pink for the warm months (sorry about the frightening close up - lol!)

P.S. my bra does not show through IRL - darn flash!

WIW: Black, yellow & white

I'm so glad I bought this drapey abstract print tank in black, white, grey, yellow & taupe. It feels great on you, doesn't cling and goes with pretty much everything. Plus I find the band at the bottom makes the fit hide any sort of problem area.

I've paired the tank with my black knit pencil skirt and black knit 3/4 length sleeve blazer. Definitely a more conservative look but appropriate for today's tasks. Footwear is my black pointy toe kitten heels and then to add a few lighter and fun elements, am using my yellow clutch and am wearing a white watch.

What do you think? does it all work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: New-ish jeans

There's a funny and fab story behind these jeans - when Angie had first posted about the Canyon River Blues slouchy skinny jeans several months ago, I jumped on the bandwagon and ordered 3 sizes - I ended up with my then regular size fitting and one size very, very slouchy. The smaller size didn't do up and I ended up throwing them into a spare closet and promptly forgot about them. The two other sizes have since been purged as they just got too sloppy on me. While doing my shoe purging and cleaning last night, I found the smallest size and thought I may as well try them on - well, they fit perfectly!

So here's a pair of skinny slouchy jeans for Denim Day, paired with my silky graphic tee in blues and whites. To bring more pops of white into the outfit (I have fallen CRAZY in love with white) I'm using my light cream handbag and wearing my white watch. I would have worn my new cream perforated oxfords but it's supposed to rain today and I don't want them to get wet so am instead wearing my python booties.

So what do you think? does it all work? as always all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: White Jeans & Yellow Stripes

These are my sized up Jessica Simpson white skinnies and I have come to the conclusion that they are as slouchy as I want to go in white denim. There's something about the combination of a wide expanse of white and the BF silhouette that I don't care for on me.

Anyway, I've paired the white jeans with my yellow and oatmeal striped v-neck light weight sweater, semi tucked, and have added my animal print belt for pattern and interest. I really like cognac tones with white and yellow. For footwear, I'm again wearing my peep toe laceless taupe oxfords. I can hardly wait until my white laser cut oxfords arrive - I think they'll look great with these jeans (if they fit of course). For more cognac, I'm using my Fossil re-issued vintage satchel. A white watch is all for jewelry today.

What do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: For a change in the weather

After two glorious days in the mid +20's (Celcius), the wind changed to the north and our temperature has plummeted to a high of +10-12 today. A good day for pants.

I started today's outfit by grabbing my cobalt skinny jeans. With that, I added an old white/black/blue animal print flowy voluminous blouse - perfect over skinnies I thought. Then I added my white leather jacket on top of that to reign in some of that volume (Angie's structure over unstructured formula). For footwear, I pulled out my slightly beat up Boutique 9 laceless peep toe oxfords for neutral footwear. As you'll see by the close up shot, they need to be re-lined (sorry if that pic is gross). I didn't have time to change my purse from yesterday, so am using my white leather clutch again.

What do you think? Does it all work together? How are the proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Not An Orphan

This will be the third spring/summer for this dress and I still love it. I love the soft wrap shape, the scalloped edge on the front, the abstract print with black/purple/blue/cream, the cuffed sleeve with black studs and the comfort factor. Plus this dress washes like a dream - absolutely no pilling or shape change after three years. I wear it all year round with tights, boots and blazer for cold months, and bare legged for the warm months. The CPW must be pennies by now.

Today I'm wearing the dress with flats. This is new territory for me and you know what? I don't feel frumpy at all! The flats are a quilted cream with black toe cap and detailing. I've popped my white and black cotton bomber jacket over top the dress. This jacket is the perfect summer weight IMO - perfect for the cool morning and as the day warms up, off it comes. If the air conditioning in the office gets too cold, back on it goes. Now that I'm finally figuring out how to style it, I can see this jacket being a workhorse.

To further pull out the cream tones in the dress and keep it light, I've added my white leather clutch and a quilted cream leather and silver cuff. I did think about changing the skinny black belt at my waist to a lighter colour but when I tried it, it just didn't look right to me.

Anyway, what do you think? Does this style keep this old dress current? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Taupe & Bare Legs

Aaaahhhhhh...glorious spring has arrived! Yesterday our temperature got up to about 18+ Celcius and today, we're expecting a high of 23. Based on that, I decided today to go bare legged to work. And yes...they are REALLY that pale - lol!

Today's outfit centres around taupe and white. I started with my taupe ponte knit tiered pencil skirt (waving to skirt twin Suz) and added my taupe/white/pink silky tee. On top of that, I've added my white denim jacket and white watch for a bit more brightness with white.

I'm debuting the Cole Haan taupe patent leather pointy toe kitten heels. These are amazingly comfortable and I think will be very versatile. I originally had wanted a more nude colour for me, but when I tried on those colours I didn't like the paleness of them. So these are neutral but not nude. Fine with me.

My handbag is the snakeskin satchel to further bring out the various taupe and white shades.

What do you think? Does it all work together? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.
