Which ones?

Yesterday I posted a thread about cigarette pants http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....hem-length and ended the discussion knowing I wanted a pair of slim, black trousers, in a non petite length so I could have a bit of scrunch. These have the potential to be a real workhorse item in my fall/winter wardrobe.

MaryK just posted that Gap/BR/ON have a 25% off sale this weekend (thanks MaryK!) and there are two trousers I'm interested in: Gap real skinny and BR Martin fit skinny. The Gap ones are on sale plus the discount but only in the regular cropped length. Although I don't want cropped because they are "regular" and not petite, trust me, they will NOT be cropped on me!

I know that Suz mentioned the Gap real skinny trousers collect lint like crazy and I have two light coloured cats - might not be a good match.

Anyway - over to you. Whiches ones to order:

Yay = Gap real skinny
Nay = BR Martin skinny

Rubric musings with season change

With the change of seasons, I have decided to revisit my rubric. My rubric consists of the following elements:

- structure
- colour
- urban
- retro/vintage
- classic

I have found a few of these elements difficult to implement during the warm/hot months of summer since I tend to wear my flowy and less structured items when it's hot.

As we head into the fall months (my favourite time of year), I'm looking forward to breaking out my new NAS stuff, my blazers and leather jackets, boots and booties. I guess what I'm asking is do you see my rubric as still being valid? Any changes you've noticed in my style? Would love your feedback.

WIW: Taking my BF to work Mona style

I was inspired by Mona's BF outfit with the Old Navy shirt that we both have (sorry - couldn't find the link) so am copying her outfit today for casual Friday. Normally I would think boyfriend jeans are too casual for the office even on a casual Friday but today we're having an "office filing day" so should be ok.

I've added my snakeskin bag (can you tell I love this handbag?) for some pattern mixing with the striped shirt and my oversized gold watch for accessories.

Am I getting closer in taming my boyfriend? Does this work on me? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Shirt: Old Navy
Jeans: Gap Sexy Boyfriend
Shoes: Boutique 9
Handbag: Elliot Lucca
Watch: thrifted

WIW: Green, White, Orange & Animal Print

Yesterday was a very neutral outfit and today is about colour! It's going to be hot again so started with my ON cotton dress. This dress wrinkles like crazy which is why I haven't worn it a lot this summer but it is very comfortable and cool so decided to heck with the wrinkles today. I then added my white denim jacket for the A/C, my orange wedge sandals (sorry for the dusty floor in the pic!) and my animal print handbag for some pattern. Jewelry is my white watch.

I don't think this dress does my figure much good and when I wear it and look at the photos, I'm not happy with what I see. Not sure I'll keep this dress.

Anyway, what do you think? Does this work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Dress: Old Navy
Denim jacket: BUM Equipment (thrifted)
Sandals: Aerosoles
Handbag: thrifted
White watch: thrifted

NAS Part 5: K/R Amber Sun Jacket

I've actually lied to all of you - this isn't a Keep/Return thread because I'm KEEPING the jacket!!! Love the rich purple colour, love the boxy shape and low stance, love the pockets, love the weight of the fabric....LOVE IT!!!

MaryK - thank you so much for your advice on sizing. You were dead bang on to size down.

I'm also showing with my vintage handbag for Claire as she was interested in the size/scale.

My love of Docs continues (ETA photo added)

Here's a new shoe for fall...http://www.dmusastore.com/p-4568-roma.aspx

Maybe I should get these instead of dark red booties??? If the Bailey dress works, would these go with it?

WIW: Neutrals & Flats

It's going to be super hot again today - I don't know about you, but I'm now tired of the heat.

Anyway on to the outfit: I started out with my black clams and then added my navy/cream polka dot dolman sleeve waistband blouse. Because the outfit has a lack of colour, I wanted to make it still visually interesting with pattern and texture so am using the snakeskin handbag again and my black/cream quilted leather flats. For jewelry, I've popped on my gold mesh cuff.

Does this work? Do the textures and pattern mixing make the outfit interesting or is the lack of colour just boring? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blouse: Winner's
Clams: Reitmans
Shoes: Shelly London (thrifted)
Handbag: Elliot Lucca
Cuff: Michael Kors

My Vintage Handbag has arrived!

And it's even prettier in real life! I previously posted about a vintage handbag that was coming to me as a gift http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-to-my-mil and it was waiting for me when I got home from work today.

It was extremely well wrapped and protected in several layers of bubble wrap and then very pretty in pink tissue paper tied with a cream and pink ribbon, with a card from the Etsy shop that it was purchased from. I felt as giddy as a little girl taking off that paper and there it was...even prettier than the picture. It is the PERFECT size and doesn't have a single flaw on it. The leather is fairly soft for patent and the Bakelite clasp is stunning.

Welcome home to my new baby!!!

Fall Closet Review and wardrobe hole revealed

Last night while hubby and MIL were out and teenage son was off with his friends, I went through my entire fall/winter wardrobe. I am totally EXCITED to get into these fall clothes! I love everything I bought through NAS, plus the addition of my black leather jacket from Danier, pumpkin orange skirt from Winners, abstract print dress from Calvin Klein, two-tone blue wrap dress from BCBG and even my taupe skirt from Cleo. Plus I have pieces from last year that I still like and will continue to wear (Esprit trousers and my blazers in particular).

And of course, who isn't looking forward to wearing their boots/booties???

What I did discover through my review though is a distinct lack of tops. I'm kind of off knits these days so would be looking for blouses that can be both tucked and untucked and perhaps two more crisp button down shirts.

Has anyone tried the Eddie Bauer non-iron fitted women's button down shirts? As much as I love Rocky (my Brooks Brothers shirt) they are pricey and their delivery fees are astronomical to Canada. Just looking for another option.
