WIW: Denim Shirt & Blondos

Good morning all - it is a GORGEOUS morning here! I hope it's a beautiful day where you are too :)

Today I've paired a western-inspired denim shirt with my taupe knit pencil skirt. I like the wash of this denim shirt and the pearl buttons - gives it a vintage feel even though it's new. For footwear, I'm debuting my new Blondo sandals (a recent Angie pick) in brown & sand. They have a great footbed, manageable heel height, and are on-trend high vamp. Love them.

I'm also debuting a recently thrifted summer straw-type handbag. It's by Creazoni Italy and I adore the woven strips that alternate between straw and suede. It also has a fabulous Bakelite faux bone finished handle. A great neutral little bag for summer.

Because the rest of the outfit is all neutrals, I've popped on my vintage pink Bakelite bangle for a pop of color.

I'm happy with how this turned out - what do you think? does it work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Shirt: Reitmans
Skirt: Cleo Petite
Sandals: Blondo
Handbag: Creazoni Italy (thrifted)
Bangle: thrifted

This is fab Shannon! I really love your new bag and the whole vibe of this outfit, which strikes me as a slightly new direction for you but I am not sure exactly in which way. Anyway, back to the bag, which works so perfectly with the shoes and the denim with taupe skirt, which are a great combination. And I just realized you are wearing Angie's formula from today's post!

Great Shannon! And you anticipated Angie's formula for today!

Good morning to you. There you go...looking like a million bucks. Noticed you matched your surroundings again. Don't you just love shirts with seaming down the front? They seem to fit so well and accentuates that tiny waist of yours. I also like the way you assemble and photograph your accessories. Looks like a magazine shoot :)

Yes, you must have been in Angie's head :)  This outfit does look good.  The new sandals are very cool.  Love them.  I think your accessories just make this outfit and that bag is just incredible, what a find.

Did Angie sneak a peak at your outfit before she wrote up the blog?  :-)

Super fun. I absolutely love the sandals on you and am so tempted to order a pair for myself as well. Did you get 6.5 or 6 in these? (Sorry, I think you already told me and I have forgotten.)

You are also getting your money's worth from "our" taupe skirt, which is great to see.

    Love the fun new bag!

Shevia - I feel like my style is turning back to more feminine, but with the modern structure-unstructured vibe to it. I have completely fallen back in love with pencil skirts which I used to wear all the time. I forgot how comfortable and versatile they are, and I find them flattering on my frame. I'm already thinking of picking up a couple of colorful ones from Cleo Petite and a few drapey tops as per Angie's blog post this morning.

Ruthe - I could just hug you for saying the words "tiny waist of yours" :) I like to add that last pic to showcase my accessories since you can't always see the details in the overall outfit pic.

Suz - I got the Blondos in a 6.5 and they are just perfect. I would think that size would work for you as well. And yes, the CPW on the taupe skirt is getting lower and lower. I did take the hem down 1/2 an inch though which I'm glad I did - it felt just a wee bit too short and just that small difference made it more comfortable for me.

Thank you for you lovely comments Ceit & Deborah.

I always love a neutral (but still so fun!) outfit! Love the sandals, too and forgot to tell you yesterday(when posting white and teal outfit) that you look so slender, your weight loss is really showing, if you don't mind me mentioning! And congrats on your DS's graduating high school!(just saw the thread on Off Topics now, and really  moved me...).

Another beautiful look on you Shannon - love everything about this. It looks just a little like Texas (to me at least :-)). Those shoes work so well with it too. I wonder if Blondos are available here ... off to search!

Extra Fab, Shannon. Love the more casual vibe of this and the sandals/shoes are fantastic. Well done.

Oh my, I am having heart palpitations. Remember the last outfit that I said was my favorite ?  I am kicking it to the curb. THIS is my favorite ever on you.  ( There is no monogamy or loyalty with your outfits....haha )

That is just an amazing outfit.

I love the sandals. Coincidentally, they are in my Amazon cart. They look fab. Are they comfortable ? As the kids say, the bag is mad cool.  And then the touch of pink...oh, my heart.

Hmmm, you must have sneaked a peak at Angie's blog for today!  So fab, and I love the pop of color with the bangle. I wonder if you could mirror the pink again in the bag or if it would be too matchy.  Still, love the summer bag!

I think you look great! I want the sandals and skirt to go with my shirt/bag/bangle that are similar - love your style!

Once again, you look amazing... and check out the smile on your face, you must FEEL amazing too!
  • amiable replied 10 years ago
Wow! I especially like how you added the pop of color to a neutral outfit.  You look like a million bucks!
  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Like Suz, I immediately thought of Angie's blog today. I think this is another way to casualize the pencil . Thank you for posting your outfit.

Nice Shannon!  This looks lovely on you!  The denim really goes well with the pencil skirt.

I echo Mary K -- it was the shoes and the bag that piqued my interest.  Both of these accessories have great details and the neutral base means they'll never overwhelm the wearer.

    Great illustration of Angie's post!

You are on a stylishly FAB roll, Shannon! Luv it!
  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago
Perfection! Love how the sandals really amp up the outfit. SO pretty, Shannon!
  • replied 10 years ago
I was reading the description but my laptop was on a go slow loading all down the page so I couldn't get to the photos straight away, so tantalising!
Finally, when I saw them it was worth the wait :) you look fantastic Shannon.
Love your sandals and bag, and I'm guessing you picked a pink bangle to go with your summer pink lipstick that you mentioned the other day, lovely choice.

lyn67 - you just MADE my day :)

textstyle - the denim shirt definitely has a country vibe to it. Strangely enough, that's what drew me to it.

Isabel - "no monogamy or loyalty" - lol! The comfort level of the sandals are a 10/10! Total winners. I hope you get them. What I really like is even though they are hi-vamped, I don't find them leg shortening at all because of the lighter color in the criss-crossed middle section.

Thistle - no pink bag unfortunately :(

MaryK - you crack me up!

Diane - you got it! Pink bangle + pink lipstick.

Thanks Carole, Jenanded, Elizabeth, Amiable, Joy, Raisin, Beth Ann, AJ & Kelly :)

    An 11 out of 10!

Loving the longer hair, and those sandals are SO PERFECT for your style!
