WIW: Navy & Silver

Today is a monochrome outfit in navy - navy straight leg trousers paired with my navy sweater with silver lurex "sparkles". I've decided to play up the silver sparkles with my silver b-day necklace from hubby and my silver/white bracelet watch. For footwear I've popped on my purple-cobalt suede booties and I'm using my yellow/cobalt snakeskin clutch.

I'm kinda loving this outfit - hope you are too! But as always, all comments/suggestions for improvement welcome.

WIW: Leather Love (ETA styling question)

What better way to make a gal feel good then to wrap herself in some leather love? This is the mauve leather jacket my husband bought me for my birthday last year. I'm embarrassed to say I haven't worn it very much this year and when I put it on this morning, I wondered why 'cause I still love it.

I've popped the jacket overtop of my asymmetrical ruched tank and added my tweed front slouchy trousers for bottoms. My Doc Marcie boots are my footwear of choice today and my black/white handbag rounds out the outfit.

I'm wondering if a different handbag would have been better with this? I'm also wondering if this leather jacket would look good with white jeans? Any and all comments/suggestions welcome.

ETA: Since I'm going to hold off on some shopping for now and I have rediscovered my love of this jacket, would totally appreciate styling suggestions on how to transition this jacket into spring. Because it is a fairly distinct colour and has an interesting collar and alot of detail, I have trouble figuring out what colour tops to wear under it. Would love your help!

WIW: Double Dose of Animal

Today's outfit started out with my black v-neck sheath dress. I topped it with my animal print cardigan (the print is on the front panels only) and decided to add another bit of animal print on my sheet by way of my Doc Danielle's. Then to pick up some of the cognac tones in the sweater and shoes, I've added my Fossill handbag. A red belt at my waist and a swipe of red lipstick adds a bit of colour.

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

K/R Yellow Leather Jacket (ETA decision made @ bottom)

The two pairs of shoes I ordered from The Bay arrived today - the animal print pointy toed flats and the grey leather with green neon sole oxfords. Here's the original thread http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....al-oxfords.

The pointy toed flats were surprisingly comfortable but half a size too big. They also aren't real leather so I'm kind of on the fence about whether or not I'll try the half size smaller. They did have the potential to be very comfortable.

The grey oxfords are INCREDIBLE - soft, supple leather, great colour mix and ridiculously comfortable. They are staying - and you'll see them below in some pics.

I went to The Bay after dinner to return the animal print flats (they didn't have them in the store yet so couldn't try the smaller size) and the white Bernardo faux leather moto. While there I thought "what the heck", I'm going to go and try on that yellow moto again at Danier Leather. So doing the girl math from my returns, plus some birthday money I got, this pretty yellow sweetheart ending up coming home with me.

The leather is buttery soft - I just want to pet it all day - and the colour is lovely. It's not a sour yellow but rather a soft, golden egg yolk yellow. The fit is excellent in the shoulders and I can "just" do it up - once it relaxes the fit will be better. The sleeves are at least three inches too long and will need shortening if I keep it, so for the purpose of these pics, I've just tucked the sleeves under.

I've done a couple of quick stylings and must tell you that I'm pretty smitten with this jacket. It makes me smile. And I think the colour is much more versatile than I originally thought. I think it could be worn in all seasons quite honestly and will become more summery or fall like depending on what you pair with it - add an animal print scarf and my brown Esprit trousers with boots, and you have a fall look. Add my white straight leg jeans, open toed booties and a white tee, and you have a summer look.

I like the length with trousers but am less sure about it with a dress. This styling with a dress isn't ideal but you get the idea re: length. I will be honest though, if you think the length, fit and colour is good with pants, I'm not worried about pairing it with a dress.

So over to you...keep or return?

P.S. please excuse my dirty floor - the cats have been playing with this silly cardboard box and there's slivers of cardboard EVERYWHERE!

WIW: Print & Purple

It's a bit warmer this week so am giving a nod to Spring by not wearing black stockings of any kind, just nude micro fishnets.

These faux bare legs are peeking out from under my trusty purple/blue/black/cream print wrap dress. I've topped the dress with my dark purple Amber Sun jacket and added my blue-purple suede booties. For my handbag, I've added my black with cream trim to pick out the cream in the dress.

I haven't paired this dress and this jacket together before - what do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Bootcut Bootcamp & Gold

I've been enjoying watching Rae, Tanya and Una rock their bootcuts this week so am wearing my newly thrifted jeans in their honour. Bootcuts have actually always been my favourite cut of jeans - I find them comfortable, versatile and to me, the leg line helps to balance out my hips and midsection. I tend to feel taller and leaner in boot cuts.

I ADORE this pair of Kut from the Kloth I thrifted last week - not only do they fit perfectly and are oh so comfy, someone out there has the same leg length as me and they didn't even need shortening! I also really like the faded almost vintage-y wash of these.

I've paired the jeans with my gold metallic sweater with a semi tuck. I've added a simple back belt with gunmetal buckle. For footwear, I decided on my red SE boots - red might seem like an odd choice but I like the unexpected pop of red on my feet. For my handbag, I went with my Christopher Kon black lamb leather with gold hardware and a gold oversized watch rounds out the accessories.

I'm really happy with this outfit and hope you like it too. As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: For the Big 5-0!

Good morning my beautiful YLFers!

Today's outfit was chosen to showcase the beautiful necklace my husband and son gave me for my birthday. Without my knowing, they met about a month ago with a local artisan and designed a silver necklace for my birthday gift. They wanted an open pendant so my skin could show through and it wouldn't look too heavy on me. It is one continuous piece to represent the continuity of life and the coolest part? It is hammered exactly 50 times, one for each year of my life. The light catches the little hammered "dents" beautifully and makes the piece almost sparkly. I absolutely love it and the meaning behind it.

I've shown the necklace with my black sheath dress, topped with my purple Amber Sun jacket. I've added black micro fishnets and my short black wedge booties for footwear. My grey faux snakeskin clutch completes the look.

What do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

P.S. I had to show you the card my Mother sent me showing a little girl in a pink frilly lace dress. It reminded her of a dress that my grandmother had given me for my second birthday - little did she know, I still had that pink lace dress - here's a picture of the card with the dress. I thought it was so sweet.

WIW: Green Cashmere

Can you believe that this sweater is the first item of cashmere I've ever had? What the heck took me so long - it feels AMAZING against the skin!

I bought this teal green sweater recently as a way to get through the last bit of winter with something new and colourful. It's slightly oversized, which I'm loving. I've paired it with my espresso brown trousers and simple brown heeled booties. I've added my animal print belt for a bit of pattern and interest, and am using my Fossil handbag.

My happiness factor in this outfit is immeasurable - I feel cozy, stylish, comfortable and I'm really happy with the fit of each item.

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Trio of Leather & Bit of Blue

Back to work today after a long weekend - I started out today with my tweed front trousers and then added my blue cowl neck tank. I tucked the tank and added a black skinny belt to the trousers (it only has skinny belt loops). On top of that, I added my black leather blazer. For footwear, I've got on my Doc Marcie boots and my handbag is my black/cream one. That's three leather elements in today's outfit - blazer, boots and handbag. Is a trio of leather too much?

What do you think? does this work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: While waiting for the dryer repair guy

Thought you'd get a kick out of this since you usually see me dressed for work.

I'm off today as a dryer repair guy is coming to the house to see if they can fix my dryer before we spend money on a new one. I just got out of bed about 30 minutes ago and am drinking my first cup of coffee. I've had a shower but haven't styled my hair and have no make up on.

I'm wearing my Gap BF jeans (my favourite "house pants"), an ancient Kelly green Gap polo style tee, and my favourite grey bamboo socks. I have eczema on my legs from time to time and have found bamboo fabric socks to be my best friend - no itching or irritation.

Yep...this is lazy, sloppy Shannon for your viewing pleasure and a hopefully, a chuckle.

Happy Friday all!
