WIW: Cardigan for Fuchsia Friday

Although this sweater is more of a berry shade, I figured it would still work for Fuchsia Friday. I've popped it on over a dark purple tank, then added my dark wash, straight legged jeans since it is Casual Friday at work. For footwear, I decided to keep up the jewel tone look and wear my blue suede booties. And for jewelry today, I pulled out one of my favourite necklaces. I haven't worn my necklaces for a while but I'm starting to feel itchy to wear them again. Handbag today is my grey snakeskin clutch.

And of course when I head out the door, I've added my citron short puffer and my snakeskin gloves.

What do you think? good Casual Friday look? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Fuchsia Friday Reminder Ladies

Sona came up with a great idea in a thread to have a day of fuchsia love (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ts-to-play) and Friday November 30th is the day!

Since I'm usually on the forum pretty early in the morning before I leave for work, Sona's asked me to start the thread in the morning. It will be titled Fuchsia Friday (duh....).

It doesn't have to be fuchsia, but can be any shade of pink and can include anything from a clothing item, to a handbag, to accessories - just show your love for fuchsia!

See you in the morning...

WIW: Grey Patterns

It is quite cold today so pulled out my grey Glen plaid wide legged trousers. I know I mused lately that I'm not a trouser gal but I do have a few pair that fit well and that I feel good in - these are one of those pairs.

I decided to go with a grey patterned outfit today so added my charcoal grey herringbone patterned blazer with dark grey elbow patches. This was a thrift find last year that Wonder woman altered by taking in the bust dart and shortening the sleeves. For some colour, the layer under the jacket is a bright blue cowl neck tank. For a wee bit more colour, I've added my yellow/cobalt snakeskin print clutch - which also has some dark grey in its snakeskin print pattern. I've added a black leather belt and my vintage black/silver brooch for some more visual interest. For footwear, I've got on my trusty and comfortable Clarks heels.

What do you think? Proportions and combination work to your eye? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Fuchsia Plaid (ETA question)

I got this jacket at my favourite consignment shop as one of the items in exchange for some of my sales. I like the colours, the asymmetrical front, the large almost origami style collar and the short, cropped length. The quality is fantastic.

I've popped it on top of my black ponte knit sheath dress, added black micro fishnets and my cobalt blue suede booties. For a handbag, I'm using my grey faux snakeskin clutch. I think this jacket could head into "fuddy duddy" territory if not careful so I'm using modern elements like coloured booties and a clutch to keep the overall outfit modern.

Jewelry is my Haida wedding band and a silver/garnet vintage ring.

What do you think? Was this a good "buy"? How are the proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Nygard (consignment)
Dress: Cleo Petite (thrifted)
Fishnets: Hue
Booties: Aerosoles
Handbag: thrifted

ETA: Question - do you think this jacket is too short to wear with trousers?

WIW: Blues for the Bus

I'm taking the bus to and from work today and it's very cold out - so today's outfit is all about warmth and comfort.

But I also have two items that I purchased almost two years ago up for debate on whether to keep or not. Those are the faux wrap print top and the cardigan (they are a set). The faux wrap top has shades of cobalt, purple and taupe in it and the cardigan is a cobalt knit. Both are excellent quality and fit nicely but I'm wondering if they are still part of my style?

They are combined with a simple pair of navy trousers, my black Clarks shooties and my black patent croc leather handbag.

This outfit doesn't wow me but it does serve the purpose today.

I'm also debuting my red puffer coat (yes....it's THAT cold!) that I bought at Land's End in July on deep discount. I love this coat - it's a bright cheery colour, it fits well and it's warm.

What do you think of this outfit? Boring? Should the top and/or sweater stay or go? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Shades of Grey & Frye Boots

I posted back a bit about my first eBay purchase being a pair of grey leather Frye boots (from some left over consignment sale dollars). Well they arrived, fit like they were made for me and are even more wonderful and comfortable than I had hoped for. You are going to get SICK of seeing these!

I paired the boots with matching grey tights and my B44 striped dress. On top of that, I popped on a wool blend, loose knit, drapey sweater that I normally reserve for weekends. But I thought it would work well to de-bomshell the dress for the work environment. To bring out the red in the dress and add some colour, I'm using my red quilted handbag and of course, a bright red lip. I've also added a bluish-purple lucite bangle that has flecks of gold in it for a bit of daytime sparkle.

I feel fab in this outfit and I think it's because everything fits so well. I feel curvy in the best way, modern and still modest.

What do you think? Does it all work together?

BTW - these double shaft leather Frye's are $297 on Revolve Clothing's website and I got them for $85!

BR camel trousers - Round #2 (final decision at bottom)

I posted these trousers yesterday in a K/R thread (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....el-trouser) and it was felt these were not the best fit for me and I was ready to return them.

But I'm an incredibly stubborn gal...and Angie PM'd me suggesting I iron out the creases and give them another go. I tossed them in the dryer on "fluff" to get out some of the stiffness and then ironed out as best I could the centre creases in front and back. I've also pinned them a little higher in the hopes the legs hang a bit better - do remember though that there is literally 6 inches if fabric tucked under that do add a bit of stiffness to the bottom of the legs.

Here are a couple of quick stylings. They are incredibly comfortable, I've worn them around the house for about an hour and they move beautifully - neither too snug nor too loose. I'm comfortable with tucking and not tucking with them.

I've also decided that I am seen from behind very infrequently during my day and definitely bat for Team Front, so the rear view is not as important to me.

I am now strongly leaning towards keeping these as I really like them and can see them integrating into my wardrobe really well.

Does the fit look better to you today? or am I blinded by love?

WIW: bootcuts & leather

I was only able to get one decent shot of my casual Friday outfit today thanks to Gain - who kept nudging the camera with his nose!

Today I'm wearing an older pair of boot cuts that I still enjoy wearing and have paired them with a graphic tee in taupe/pink/cream and over that, my taupe draped leather jacket. For footwear I'm wearing my three-tone patent leather oxfords and have added my snakeskin handbag for a bit more pattern.

Hope this looks ok to you all - as always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jeans: Anne Klein (thrifted)

P.S. My MIL has been watching me take my WIW pics and try on different items since she moved in with us in July. She kind of took me aback this morning when she told me she thought this was "silly, selfish and a complete waste of time". Ouch!

WIW: The cardi that broke SYB

I have had my eye on this cropped animal print (only on the front panels) cashmere-merino wool blend Lord & Taylor cardigan since I bought my L&T slouchy pants. But the price was quite high at the time and I couldn't justify it. When MIL and I went Christmas shopping on Saturday afternoon, it was there and was now 60% off. Having done well with our home repair (which is why I was on SYB) I decided to go ahead and purchase the sweater since there was only one left in my size and I could see it working with so many things in my wardrobe. Hubby was fine with the purchase BTW.

I've paired the sweater with my Lord & Taylor slouchy black trousers, a black cowl neck tee and for some colour, my red leather belt and red booties. I wasn't sure about the handbag but I knew I didn't want black and my red/animal print clutch was just too much, you know? So I went with my camel leather handbag instead to pick up the camel tones in the sweater. For some reason this handbag photographs more yellow than it really is.

On top of everything when I head out the door is my plaid cape and my red leather gloves. I know the gloves are a brighter red than the boots, but I figure they're physically far enough away from each other to not be a problem.

What do you think? Does this work? How are the proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

P.S. Realize I forgot my red lipstick for the picture but rest assured, I've got a red lippy on!

WIW: Brown, cream & purple

I love how MaryK combines her various blouses with her Amber Sun jacket so that was the inspiration and starting point for today's outfit.

I've combined my BR cream pussy bow blouse with my purple Amber Sun jacket and my dark brown trousers. I'm wearing a leather belt with cut outs surrounded by small brass studs and my animal Doc Danielle's for footwear. I'm using my Fossil handbag and over top everything when I head out the door is my black/camel wool coat.

What do you think? I can't help wish I'd paired the top half of my outfit with a colourful pencil skirt ala Mary.

Blazer: Amber Sun
Blouse: Banana Republic
Trousers: Esprit
Shoes: Doc Martens
Handbag: Fossil
Belt: thrifted

BTW - the blouse photographs kind of funny because of the slight sheen. I swear my chest does NOT look like this IRL - lol!
