Sleek and edgy boots (eta nevermind)

Can a boot be sleek, rugged and edgy all at the same time? These are Fluevog Darrin boots and I'm loving how they have a semi-pointed toe and smooth leather and overall, a fairly simple shape. At the same time, there are a few straps and buckles giving them a bit of edge.

What do you think of these?

Thoughts on this trench coat? (eta quick decision made thx to YLF wisdom)

My favorite eBay seller has for sale an Eileen Fisher waterproof trench in Primrose color that I have been looking at off and on. I have included pictures of both the stock photos as well as the real photos of the trench up for sale. It is new with tags and IMHO, a very reasonable price.

I like the style in that you can wear the neckline open or fully done up
depending on the weather, that it's 100% water and wind proof, and I adore the back gather which helps to give me shape. My only pause is the color - although the primrose works well with my hair and skin coloring, I'm wondering about versatility. That having been said, my only other coat for fall and spring (before getting into the heavier winter coats) is my navy London Fog which is a completely different style.

The EF jacket in question is a Petite Large. I wear both medium and large in EF depending on the item and I think the petite large would allow layering of my various blazers, etc.

What do you think of this color and style for me?

P.S. Yes, I am beginning to think of fall. Fall/winter are my dominant seasons and I'm learning to buy a bit at a time for it to ease the "all at once" budget pain.

What I did and didn't buy

Earlier this week I had posted about a black leather vest from Danier that I had been crushing on. Sorry I can't link to the post - on my phone.

I went tonight and tried it on to get it out of my system. It's a gorgeous vest with that great Danier quality and the gold hardware is classy. But it is not cut for gals with narrow shoulders and who are petite. The underarms are much too deep and the shoulders were wide to the point that the fabric went past my shoulder and I looked like I was wearing epaulettes. So I walked away.

On a whim I popped into BCBG to see if they had that lovely drapey blush/black/white blouse Angie had shown us earlier in the season. I normally don't even look in BCBG because their clothes are not made for petites or women with a larger midsection. But I thought what the heck - I'm already out and about. They had the blouse and it's even prettier in real life and has such wonderful movement. I tried the large and the medium and actually the medium was perfect. The blouse is cut generously. As Angie had mentioned, it can be worn untucked in all its glory or tucked. It was 50% off and I bought it. It is not a need and a total "love" purchase. And I couldn't be more pleased. And DH thinks it's beautiful.

Already in my pj's so no pics on but you'll see it in action next week.

Waxed skinnies for fall?

Love the idea of pairing with a voluminous tunic and ankle booties for fall.

Still fashionable? Or old news?

Metalicus Drape Dress

I may have broken No Shopping June....and this may be on its way to me all the way from Australia...ok...that's a lie....there's no may - I ordered and its on the way!

Huge thanks to the gorgeous Deborah for her info and confab with her local boutique SA, measurements and ever helpful and beautiful self :)

Now I wait. Impatiently I might add.

ETA: I'd like to know how a boutique in Australia can ship an item to Canada at one-third (yes...one-third) the cost of shipping from the U.S. to Canada???

The hunt for new black shoes

So if you saw my post yesterday http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/shoe-sadness you'll know that my lovely new Fugitive shoes won't be worn again by me. So I'm on the hunt for a replacement pair.

I'm
looking for heels no more than 2 inches, covered and pointy toes (but
not severely so), and all leather construction. I'm not as concerned
with the brand name or the longevity as I am the comfort factor. So here's a selection of
possibilities which are brands which have normally fit my foot and are
locally available.

I would like to get my hands on the DV Dolce Vita Geo D'Orsay flats that a few Fabbers have but alas, can't find in my size in stores or even on websites that are either in my size or that deliver to Canada. Even those listed on Amazon are third party shipping by a company that won't ship to Canada :(

So these are my options - any jump out at you for me to try on?

Cute Lunch Bag

I take my lunch every day to work, while also carrying my handbag. I don't really want to carry a tote to hold everything because I find that kind of heavy and cumbersome.

Yesterday in the hospital gift shop of all places, I found this adorable lunch bag. It kind of reminds me of that Phillip Lim for Target line with the Boom sweatshirt (shout out to MaryK!).

(no idea why the photo won't load straight - sorry if you get a kink in your neck!)

K/K: My Slouchy Sweet Spot (SSS) ETA - update @ bottom

On my original spring shopping list, I had a pair of dressy track type pants. It's when I stopped looking, that I found my pair. They are from Ricki's and are super comfortable. I really like the length and how that leg line gets extended when wearing my black ankle strap suede and calf hair pumps. Those trousers are in pics #1 - #6. These are very quick stylings (I'm between getting home from work and making dinner) and not entirely sure they work exactly but hopefully you get the idea. They are 100% polyester but not like "old school" polyester - they feel more like silk and actually breathe quite nicely. In fact, it needs to warm up before I wear these outdoors.

Pics #7-14 are the J Brand Earhart aviator trousers I stalked on eBay. They are technically a cropped pant but not on short me. But you know what? I don't care! This twill blend fabric is so lightweight and soft, it's like wearing pyjamas. The fit is slouchy but not overly so IMHO. The legs are definitely wide and have a harem-like feel to them, but that's kind of what I like about them. Again, these are some very quick stylings. I've tried a roll on the bottom for other options but would have to add a pin on the inside as the zipper wants to pull the roll down and make it too bulky. So try and visualize the trousers with a flatter roll.

Just when I posted recently about not liking volume on my bottom half, look what I bought? But I figured out I really like the dressy pair because they taper at the ankle and are sleeker. And I like the casual J Brand Earhart's because they have a cool kind of vibe to them that somehow compensates for the extra volume.

Would love any/all suggestions for styling these new additions to my wardrobe. The dressier pair I can wear to work with a variety of my toppers. Oh yeah…and I'm having a BLAST with fashion these days :)

ETA: I just realized I have my hands in my pockets for all the Earhart outfit pics - I have no idea why!

Also forgot to mention that I'll be stitching down the slant pockets on the first pair so the side lays flat.

Okala frustration

On my spring shopping list, I have the now YLF famous Sam Edelman Okala ankle strap pump. Based on my wardrobe and the other footwear I already have, I have decided that black is my most versatile color option. But alas I can't find black anywhere to be had in Canada. All I can find is the black and tan option in the pic below at The Bay.

I can find plain black on the following websites - Piperlime, Amazon, Nordstrom, Shopbob - all of which deliver to Canada. And all of which will add $46 in shipping and duties to my shoe order! Oh wait...Amazon just messaged that these shoes are not deliverable to Canada....huh???

So my question is - do I go with the black and tan which is available to me and will still be versatile, wait and hope The Bay adds other color ways to their choices, or just suck it up and buy the black through Shopbob and pay the extra?

Signed,
Why Can't We Have the Same Options in Canada

K/R RL Skinny BF's & a fab thrift find

First up - I ordered these Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply premium Skinny BF jeans. I absolutely LOVE my TR Cameron slim BF jeans because I don't feel overwhelmed by the amount of fabric and they fit nicely on the thighs. But sometimes I find the large flap rear pockets distracting depending on the top or jacket I'm wearing. So I wanted something that fit the same way, but with flat rear pockets and no adornments. These fit that bill.

These are my true size and to be honest, I would love to size up one to see how they look but alas, this is the largest size these jeans come in :( Knowing past RL jeans and pants I've worn, I suspect these will loosen up considerably. I love the wash, lack of rips or tears and the fit in the legs (obviously they need shortening). The denim is extremely soft and I find these super comfortable. But I need some YLF feedback on how they look in terms of fit. So Keep or Return?

Secondly I wanted to show you my fantastic thrift find this week. I've been wanting a Chanel-esque style cropped jacket with pink in it for Spring and on a whim, popped into my Value Village on the way home from work yesterday. Lo and behold, here was this J Crew cropped tweed jacket with pink and lime green in it with pretty gold buttons. It is in pristine condition (not sure it's ever been worn) and fit perfectly. At $12.99 it was a total steal. I obviously wouldn't wear it buttoned up like this, but wanted to show you how fab the fit was.

And yes…this is serious bed head. Just got up a while ago, had coffee and whole grain blueberry waffles, tossed in a load of laundry and took these pics. Now it's time to shower and head out to get groceries. Catch ya later…
(sorry the pics are a bit dark - having some issues with my camera)
