Love the idea of pairing with a voluminous tunic and ankle booties for fall.
Still fashionable? Or old news?

To me they are still fashionable and I like this combo warm and edgy at the same time.
Well, this look always reminds me of leather, and I plan on wearing my leather skinnies just like this when I get back home again!
That's a great look.
I've just never been able to get past how uncomfortable I think they're going to be...
I know I am among "my people" when the day before summer "officially" begins, we are thinking about fall clothing. And for the record, that's a great look.
hahahah, Nebraskim!! Too funny!! Too true!!! :)
Shannon, I think this is a pretty classic look now, especially if you go voluminously oversize up top. Like that 80s photo Angie showed yesterday, sweater and leggings....
Having said that, I'm pretty tired of my own super skinnies. A winter of wearing almost nothing else will do that to a girl. Hoping next winter provides me with more opportunities for a varied silhouette.
Nebraskim...LOL I was just thinking that I have found my fashion home. Wonderful instant feedback Constructive and helpful critiques. Lovely thoughts and pictures. Unique and varied Styles of fashion. A safe haven against the world. Maybe Angie could run for President of the US and help unite us all Fashionably.
Shannon - this will always be in in my world (not sure that counts!!) I have real leather leggings, oversized sweater and booty kicking booties!! Love those EF coax booties!!
I have been looking at fall stuff for two weeks now. The long sleeve tops I ordered from J Crew are fall/winter items because long sleeves just will not do in 100 degree summer heat. Yes, you are all 'my people'!!!
ETA - Shannon, I hope the skinnies are still going strong this fall. Just like in the 80's.
Shannon, we are on the same wave length! I recently bought the EF waxed denim skinnies at a GREAT price and I too wondered if they were past their prime. But I decided that I love them regardless and just 30 minutes ago dropped them off at the seamstress for hemming. So high five to you!!
Yep - we fashion crazy women are definitely "amongst our people" - too funny Nebraskim :) I do justify looking at fall clothing in mid June since fall/winter is definitely our dominant season. I really only need warm weather clothes for three months.
Mary - yeah, I've wondered about the comfort issue myself.
Mo - I guess those leather skinnies would be a little hot in FL huh? Ha ha ha..
Suz - I love that picture Angie linked to. I enjoyed my burgundy skinnies as you know but love the luxe look of these ones. Maybe because I was late to the skinnies crowd I'm not quite as sick of them yet.
Susie - are you serious??? That's too funny. How were they for size - TTS?
If it helps, I just saw a lady on a TV talk show this afternoon in either leather or waxed skinnies and a silk sleeveless shell!
Oh it definitely helps Mo :)
Thumbs up.
Warning: waxed denim is weird to wear. Lots of friction.
I'm still into it. Really, my skinnies are getting skinnier. I have a HEWI in brown waxed skinnies... got to be cowboy brown.
I love waxed denim, it gives the luxe feel of leather with the comfort of canvas. I have a pair by helmut lang that I have bought three times already. I love them. go for it.
I still love the look.
Shannon, yes TTS I think.
Skinnies are the only thing that make sense in Canadian winters. Angie has emphasized that variety of silhouette/trend is a huge feature of this fashion age. I personally hope skinnies NEVER go away entirely!
I love my coated skinnies. They are so comfortable. They feel almost like jammies. That said, I hardly wore them last winter, as I was self-conscious in the tight look. Maybe I need some sweaters that are more voluminous to wear over them.
I still wear my waxed jeggings in the summer <3 I'm looking to bump up to skinnies eventually.
They do look like leather and I don't see why this will be old news. I mean come on... TV superheroes wear them all the time ;)
I actually tried that EF pair once and my oh my how wonderful they feel!
I love waxed skinny jeans. We are seeing a lot of them in our stores at the moment. The outfit you are describing sounds awesome. I want some:)
I like my waxed jeans but they are not skinnies because I sized up quite a bit.
Shannon, I'm glad that you asked the question because I was looking at a great pair of black waxed jeans at the Rack and wondering if they were still going to be in style. Mine are stretchy but don't get baggy and very comfortable but too heavy for summer.
Great topic, Shannon. Last winter I found Kut waxed skinnies in a deep reddish "raisin"color, if that makes any sense. Maybe burgundy with the red tempered with aubergine.
Anyways, I tried them on a lark, as I was a bored wearer of skinnies by then and thought they wouldn't breathe. I was comfortable in them, but went up one size, creating a narrow straight leg look that could easily be tucked in tall boots. I wore them with welted , over-sized knitwear all season. People thought they were a beautiful leather pant, which surprised me. I was worried about how the finish would last and launder, but had no trouble and they wore very well. I am hoping the appearance of leather and the non-skin tight fit will allow me to enjoy them another season without feeling out of date.
Well I hope they will still be in because I just bought a new pair for Fall when they were on sale in March.
I know I won't be able to wear them til about January here in LA, but I can't wait!
Shannon, I LOVE this look!
True story: before you could buy waxed jeans I bought a block of clothing wax and tried waxing my own. (Read about it on some blog.) It looked kind of cool but not quite as cool as I had hoped; I think the jeans just weren't skinny enough. So I think they went to Goodwill. I haven't purchased a pair since, but maybe I'll give them a try this year.
PS: Count me among those who are already dreaming about fall clothing. I've never found it easier to save, knowing that before too long I'll be trying on booties, jeans, and sweaters!!! I know that I want a welted cropped wide striped sweater, which I hope exists somewhere.
A fallback fave for me for when fall is back!
I don't know about the pants, but I bought a wool jacket (plaid!) about a month ago and can't wait to wear it. Meanwhile, it's in the 90s here...
I started playing dress up when I was 4 years old and haven't stopped since! My income doesn't match my tastes so it's all about figuring out how to thrift my way to a fashionable life while tossing in a few delectable items.
