What I did and didn't buy

Earlier this week I had posted about a black leather vest from Danier that I had been crushing on. Sorry I can't link to the post - on my phone.

I went tonight and tried it on to get it out of my system. It's a gorgeous vest with that great Danier quality and the gold hardware is classy. But it is not cut for gals with narrow shoulders and who are petite. The underarms are much too deep and the shoulders were wide to the point that the fabric went past my shoulder and I looked like I was wearing epaulettes. So I walked away.

On a whim I popped into BCBG to see if they had that lovely drapey blush/black/white blouse Angie had shown us earlier in the season. I normally don't even look in BCBG because their clothes are not made for petites or women with a larger midsection. But I thought what the heck - I'm already out and about. They had the blouse and it's even prettier in real life and has such wonderful movement. I tried the large and the medium and actually the medium was perfect. The blouse is cut generously. As Angie had mentioned, it can be worn untucked in all its glory or tucked. It was 50% off and I bought it. It is not a need and a total "love" purchase. And I couldn't be more pleased. And DH thinks it's beautiful.

Already in my pj's so no pics on but you'll see it in action next week.

wow, that's pretty!  I find BCBG generously cut, too.  But I go with it, in a sort of glamorous ease kind of way lol.

Super pretty, Shannon - can't wait to see it.

But hey...I thought you told me you were done your summer shopping?

    (Runs to duck)  :)

Honestly, I seem to have started something. Isn't it always the way? For me, it was when I said on Viva's thread that I was done. Ha!! The fashion goddesses woke up and decided to give me a shaking up which resulted in a lighter wallet...

Yeah...about that Suz...what can I say? It was love at first sight with that blouse, from the time I saw it on one if Angie's round ups to seeing it in the store tonight. I just decided I wasn't going to let it get away.

Would it help my justification if I said I think I can wear it into fall with my black blazer, black leather jacket, white leather jacket or blush leather jacket as a topper?

Hey Mo - I've blown say no June with the Metalicus dress and this blouse :(

  • Mo replied 9 years ago

My June is shot, too, Shannon.  I'm changing it to July personally.  I had some circumstances made me think I had to buy while I could.
All in all, if they are good buys, I'm thumbs up for anyone who blew it but didn't risk financial jeopardy in any way, ya know?

That is beautiful! I can see it worn all sorts of ways. Would it work with your pastel suit?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Mo - that's how I'm looking at it too. I feel like both the dress (if it fits) and the blouse are good purchases for me with lots of wearing and outfit potential. Maybe it's more about an awareness of what I'm buying.

Deb - ooooh didn't even think of the plaster suit. Will have to try that. Thanks :)

It's so pretty! Can't wait to see how you're going to wear it. :)

I know that blouse will look amazing on you, Shannon. Gorgeous with white jeans too. xo

Thanks Angie - the blouse fits into that "magical" definition for me. I liked the large for how it semi tucked in the front and still kept all the beautiful drape in the back but it was huge on the shoulders and looked kind of sloppy. The medium looks better untucked or fully tucked so I went with that size. Thanks for showing me this blouse in the first place :)
