WIW: Pink Lips

Happy Friday :) It has been an extremely busy week for me and yet somehow, getting back into posting and chatting on the forum has made me feel more grounded - who knew!

Today's outfit started with my new peasant-boho style blouse in dark navy with a bright pink lipstick print. I love the shape of this blouse and the whimsical print and think it pairs perfectly with dark denim - hence my choice of of my dark wash slim fit jeans for pairing. I've rolled the jeans twice to show some ankle and popped on my nude peep toe sandals - love these things!

Accessories include my bright pink vintage Bakelite bangle, vintage navy Coach handbag and my purple/clear specs. Oh yeah…and a swipe of bright pink lipstick of my own :)

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Remember this dress?

One of the perks of having lost a bit of girth is some of my older items are coming out of the holding zone and finding new life - this wrap black/white print dress is one of them. There were a few of us who purchased this Maggy London dress when it was an Angie pick 3-4 years ago. So fun to put it on again!

On top of this graphic print dress, I added a denim vest - I thought it would be a fun juxtaposition between a fairly classic style dress and a bit of distressed denim. The vest is actually one of my older denim jackets that I just hacked the sleeves off of. I like the cropped length for a vest.

I chose my black Clarks sandals, citron handbag, white watch and black/white specs to finish off the outfit.

Does this work? Or does the combination of this dress and denim vest look off to you? I did try the dress as well with my white denim jacket and admit that looked better but I thought the vest would be a fun option. As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Drapey Top, Ankle Pants & Ankle Straps

Don't you just LOVE Angie ensembles? :) I decided to give the drapey top, ankle pants and ankle straps outfit a go while debuting two new items.

My outfit started with my white jeans rolled to ankle length. I then added my asymmetrical black EF sleeveless tunic. I really appreciate the fit of this item with the wide straps so I can wear sleeveless in the heat without my bra straps showing and the underarms come up nicely so no side bra issues. I will be wearing this a lot.

On top of the tunic, I've layered my black linen EF back-drape cardigan. I've lightened the photos to try and show the detail of the back of the cardigan but sadly it didn't really work. From the front, this is just a regular cardigan and then in the back, there is a strap that goes around the back of the neck and the entire back panel of the cardigan drapes down like a large cowl neck and exposes the back of what ever under layer you are wearing. It's positively gorgeous and dramatic. Unfortunately the beauty of this piece is lost in photographs.

For my ankle footwear I chose my ancient and well loved bone silver strap sandal shoes. I can't wear these too often now as the arch support isn't the best. But I can manage them once in a while on a days when I'm not doing too much walking.

Silver wedding band, white clutch with cognac strap, red specs and a swipe of bold red lipstick finish off the outfit.

Thoughts? As always all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Inspired by Angie (& a question)

I'm ALWAYS inspired by Angie, but her outfit yesterday made me smile big time. Not only was it colourful and beautiful but it reminded me that there is nothing wrong with wearing old favourites. So my outfit today is comprised of old favourites with new(er) shoes.

I first grabbed my black/white marble print VC tube skirt (waving to skirt twin Elizabeth!). I paired that with my black lace tee. I then topped that with my mixed media denim jacket and added my front-cross strap shoes for comfy footwear. My citron clutch, white bangle watch and red specs finish off the outfit.

I realize in looking at my outfit, it is basically my individual version of Angie's outfit - skirt, top, denim jacket, strap shoes and clutch. Thanks for the inspiration Angie :)

As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

QUESTION: Now that I'm wearing lower heeled shoes with my VC tube skirts, I'm wondering if this looks a bit long? Should I take an inch or so off the bottom?

WIW: Inspired by Deborah

I absolutely adore Deborah's beautiful black layered outfits and today is my inspiration outfit.

My outfit started with my black EF draped front dress. This dress has been a workhorse for two years and shows no signs of slowing down in my wardrobe.

Overtop of the dress, is my new EF linen-crepe knit sleeveless vest. Unfortunately the layering is slightly "off" due to the length and shape of the dress sleeve underneath and the lighting in my pics (even with some over exposure) does not show the vest at all.

For footwear, I went with my nude SM peep toe sandals and grabbed my bright citron handbag for a pop of colour. Black/white specs, gold wedding ring and gold mesh bangle finish off the outfit.

As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: For the return of snow

It was +20 Celcius on Saturday and I worked in my yard all day cleaning up the mess that winter leaves. And then it rained all day Sunday and over night, it turned to snow. Mother Nature has a cruel sense of humour!

Today's outfit is Eileen Fisher from head to toe and features the waxed denim jeans in charcoal that I bought in the fall and have never worn. They were too tight to be comfortable but I was too lazy to pack them up and return them. So yesterday when tidying up the downstairs spare closet, I came upon them and wondered if now they would fit. Well yes indeed so voila - here they are. Love them!

I then grabbed my charcoal tie-dye-esque silk tank and topped that with my bronze metallic open knit hi-lo cardigan. Doc Marten boots finish off the "dark and moody" theme and although not in the picture ('cause I snapped it quick in boss's office), I am carrying my black/with gold hardware leather handbag.

I realize this is a rather colorless outfit but I love the mix of textures IRL - waxed denim, soft drapey silk, metallic open weave. I hope the visual interest takes away from any lifeless look the outfit could have.

All comments/suggestions welcome :)

WIW: Hint o'70's

I've been toying with the idea of adding a bit of 70's to my look but I currently don't have a lot in my wardrobe that is full on modern 70's style. But when reading through Angie's blog post again on ten ways to add 70's flair, I determined I had at least 3 things I could put together in an ensemble which would hint at the 70's.

So my outfit started with my bootcut jeans (which fit again - YAY!). I don't do full on flares due to my short stature but I do love boot cuts - so these will be my version of flared jeans.

I then added my blush drapey blouse as my version of a floral shirt and have added a long pendant as another nod to the 70's. The neckline of the blouse fights a little bit with the necklace but I still think it works.

My camel peep toe sandal booties and large cream handbag finish off the outfit. And when I step outside, I'll pop on my blush leather jacket.

So what do you think? Does this all work together? Is there a hint of the 70's in this ensemble? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Soft White Top

Loved Angie's round up of soft white tops and one of my goals this Spring/Summer is to add more white to my wardrobe. For now, I will play with what I have in my closet.

Today's outfit also incorporate Angie's formula for layering a coloured tank underneath a white top.

So I started today's outfit with my white BF jeans. I then added a cobalt blue tank and layered over top of that my white hole-y pullover. Love how the cobalt peeks out of the laser cut holes. I semi tucked the pullover and added a tan leather belt. I really struggled with what belt to wear. I tried my wide white one and just wasn't feeling it. So I went with the tan - it feels more grounded. Hope it looks ok.

I chose my laser cut bone oxfords for footwear - the laser cuts in the shoes mimic the laser cuts in the pullover. Plus it adds to my almost white-out look.

Citron handbag, red specs, gold watch and wedding ring and swipe of coral lipstick finish off the outfit.

Thoughts ladies? Does it all work together or does the tan belt and citron handbag make it look disjointed? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Spring Flowers

Another warm day in The 'Peg so more bare legs and spring looks :)

Today's outfit started with my favourite wardrobe item of all time - my black EF drape front dress. Remember this one? This is probably the most worn item I have ever owned and I will be wearing it a ton again this Spring/Summer.

I topped the dress with my floral silky bomber jacket, scrunching the sleeves to add some structure.

My PF is acting up a bit today due to a lengthy walk last evening so chose my Naot shoes for comfort (note to self: need to source extremely comfortable and supportive running shoe). I'm falling more in love with these shoes each time I wear them.

I didn't have time this morning to change out my handbag so I hope the citron looks ok with this.

So does this all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Neutral + Citron

Good morning beautiful Fabbers :) Spring has sprung in my neck of the woods and I'm feeling FABULOUS!

Today's outfit started with my animal print skirt with bare legs. Yes. You heard me right. Bare legs. Sure it's only +2 Celcius right now but I go from my house to my car to my office and it's going to warm up to +19. So in Shannon's world - it's bare leg season :)

With the skirt, I've paired a very simple white tee and then topped that with my bone leather jacket. Love that the white of the jacket and tee do not match.

Footwear are my new camel coloured peep toe sandal booties (I have the feeling these are going to be worn a ton this Spring/Summer) and I grabbed my citron handbag for some fun colour - plus I love citron paired with animal print.

Taupe/silver leather wrap watch, silver ring, red specs and swipe of coral lipstick finish off the outfit.

Does this work? I'm wondering if the tee hits me in an unflattering spot and makes my hips look huge? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.
