WIW: Hint o'70's

I've been toying with the idea of adding a bit of 70's to my look but I currently don't have a lot in my wardrobe that is full on modern 70's style. But when reading through Angie's blog post again on ten ways to add 70's flair, I determined I had at least 3 things I could put together in an ensemble which would hint at the 70's.

So my outfit started with my bootcut jeans (which fit again - YAY!). I don't do full on flares due to my short stature but I do love boot cuts - so these will be my version of flared jeans.

I then added my blush drapey blouse as my version of a floral shirt and have added a long pendant as another nod to the 70's. The neckline of the blouse fights a little bit with the necklace but I still think it works.

My camel peep toe sandal booties and large cream handbag finish off the outfit. And when I step outside, I'll pop on my blush leather jacket.

So what do you think? Does this all work together? Is there a hint of the 70's in this ensemble? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blouse: BCBG
Jeans: Jessica Simpson

Oh, great outfit!  I definitely see 70's in this.  Love the blouse.

So pretty and how good is it to fit back into those jeans! They look great! This is a very nice nod to the 70's, and those pinky tones are just gorgeous on you.

Awesome look, Shannon. A gentle but very pretty nod to 70s. Swooning over that blouse.

You are on a serious roll.  I don't have a thought about the '70's, but that outfit is a wow.  I like it best with the killer blush jacket.

This is a nice nod to the 70's. I love that blouse on you. Yay for the bootcuts fitting :). The leather jacket is stunning too. YLF!

Definitely a hint of 70's.  The blouse is just perfect - a nod to the 70's with a modern feel.   I like the necklace and blouse together.

How funny...I paired bootcuts and a drapey top today. We are both feeling the 70's vibe :)

I love your version, Shannon; that is such a pretty top on you.

HAH. Yes. Great hint of the '70s. You look fabulous as always, Shannon. I love both soft and bright colours on you.

We bought a '70s wardrobe for my client yesterday - SOOOOO FUN.

This blouse was an Angie pick last Spring and it has been one of my favorite pieces. It seems to have magical qualities for the apple figure with the slight wedge shape and the diagonal dolman style sleeves.

Glad to hear that you can see at least a nod to the 70's here and appreciate your lovely words :)

Angie - oooohhhh how exciting to buy a 70's wardrobe. Would love to hear what type of pieces you bought with your clients??? I'm realizing I quite like the "elegant sleekness" of the modern 70's look.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

It was a lot more Casual and Boho Chic. But these are some of the pieces.

Thanks for the links Angie - these are great pieces. I'm loving the hits of orange in the tops and the one pair of sandals. And I can't help but think how fortunate it is that sandals and shoes like Dankso, Birkenstock, etc. are in style right now because they work so well for my fussy feet. Don't you love it works like that? :)

Gonna have to figure out a way to add a little boho to my wardrobe I think...

Stunning, Shannon! You look so springy and fresh!

Magical!! Love this blouse when Angie posted about it - and you wear it beautifully!! Shoes look amazing and that pink bomber is the icing on the cake - GORGEOUS!!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Anything with that blouse is an outfit to love, but I really like the booties and bag that you chose.

I must say - sharp thinking: Modernizing with an In colour is what I feel you've done. Do your remember all the blues and oranges of the '70s? That was because of TV and colour transmission factors.

So so gorgeous!!! I love seeing your outfits Shannon. Everything is gorgeous on you, but that blouse... Gorgeous!
