WIW: Inspired by Angie (& a question)

I'm ALWAYS inspired by Angie, but her outfit yesterday made me smile big time. Not only was it colourful and beautiful but it reminded me that there is nothing wrong with wearing old favourites. So my outfit today is comprised of old favourites with new(er) shoes.

I first grabbed my black/white marble print VC tube skirt (waving to skirt twin Elizabeth!). I paired that with my black lace tee. I then topped that with my mixed media denim jacket and added my front-cross strap shoes for comfy footwear. My citron clutch, white bangle watch and red specs finish off the outfit.

I realize in looking at my outfit, it is basically my individual version of Angie's outfit - skirt, top, denim jacket, strap shoes and clutch. Thanks for the inspiration Angie :)

As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

QUESTION: Now that I'm wearing lower heeled shoes with my VC tube skirts, I'm wondering if this looks a bit long? Should I take an inch or so off the bottom?

Great outfit. You know, I think it does look a tad long, but I really like that look. I think those shoes look really work too.

That is a great example of "inspired by" Shannon. I do think you could take a bit off the skirt (leaving it below the knees) if you will be wearing it with high vamped shoes like these (which I like very much). It may be the vamp and not the heel height that is making the visual difference.

Love your criss-cross shoes, the edgy mix-media denim jacket and that fab pop of color in the yellow clutch, YLF and confident! I would hem the skirt a bit, 2" or so? (Glad you're doing so well with your diet, hope family issues are sorted already and  happy  you're  back to us,  Shannon!:-))

This looks good to me, the bright clutch is very "Angie" for sure :)

Looking fab in an old favourite! It's so great to see you again.

What a super combo! I love your jean jacket with leather sleeves. Very cool!
I'm not knowledgeable enough about skirt lengths to comment on yours. I think it looks good!

This is of my favourites on you .  I think I'll do my version of this today too!  And yes, I'd take a bit off the bottom - easy enough to do.

I love the citron with the faded denim, Shannon! Fab outfit.

I can see taking an inch or two off the skirt if you like, sure. Just as long as it remains below the knees.

Oh, YES!  But you knew I'd say that :).   And I love that jacket....

I always roll my skirt like this at the waist to bring it up a couple of inches.  It stays in place and isn't an issue at all.  I'm generally wearing loose tops so no visible bulk.  Might be worth trying before you chop, see how it works with your other shoes.  I keep thinking I should remove one stripe from my striped one, then another if needed, until I end up at the perfect length - then can alter this one accordingly.  Yet another thing on my "round tuit" list :)

Killer to the power of Killer. SOOOOOO fun, funky and happy. And made up of old faves to boot. BONUS

Skirt looks a good length. You could shorten a little too. Fab either way.

(Really missed your outfits, Shannon. It's a treat to see them again).

Nice!  I love the denim jacket and bright clutch.  I'm not sure about the skirt length.  I like Elizabeth P's idea of rolling the waist up and seeing how that looks before making any decisions.

Shevia - you quite right. It's the vamp of the shoe (along with the thicker strap) that's making me wonder about the skirt length and not the heel height.

Lyn - thank you so much for your sweet words. Things are coming along and moving in the right direction :)

Smittie - this jean jacket was a big of a wildcard purchase for me and has turned into one of my favorite items. You just never know!

Lisa - that's the beauty of these skirts isn't it? Just take a pair of scissors and "hack hack".

Elizabeth - that's a great idea! I'll try rolling the skirt at the top and see about the length before doing anything more permanent.

    Angie - :) :) :)

Thank you everyone for the feedback - always so incredibly helpful.

I would try pinning it up and see--as a petite, your  midi or below-knee "sweet spot" may be just a bit shorter. Preserve the below-knee tube effect but may be better for your frame and hit your calf at better spot. I agree it's not a deal-breaker, but you may find there is just the perfect length that makes you really grab for the skirt and works with more comfy shoe styles.

Shannon- I love this for you. What a fantastic combination of pieces. Fun and today! I could see length either way. Great idea to roll skirt up. Tops and toppers may impact proportions, too. Perhaps you can leave it is as and do a temporary "shortening" as indicated. No wrong answer as this is a winning look.

Hah, you are an inspiration in bags and shoes as a way to make things look like they have a point of view.
The cross strap is very nice on the leg, and the skirt seems fine, intentional.

Nice! I am a skirt twin (or triplet, at this point) too and you've given me good ideas for wearing it differently in casual ensembles than how I have in the past.

Echo the idea to try rolling skirt to wear it higher around the house to make sure it's comfy that way before you make the big snip. I like mine a bit higher than yours is currently because I nearly always wear low heels or flats with it.

I also like the white watch making the marble print pop like lightning!

So glad to see you posting outfits again.

Try the skirt with other shoes first. I agree with Shevia that the criss-cross straps are more leg length shortening than the height of the heel.
