WIW: Neutral + Citron

Good morning beautiful Fabbers :) Spring has sprung in my neck of the woods and I'm feeling FABULOUS!

Today's outfit started with my animal print skirt with bare legs. Yes. You heard me right. Bare legs. Sure it's only +2 Celcius right now but I go from my house to my car to my office and it's going to warm up to +19. So in Shannon's world - it's bare leg season :)

With the skirt, I've paired a very simple white tee and then topped that with my bone leather jacket. Love that the white of the jacket and tee do not match.

Footwear are my new camel coloured peep toe sandal booties (I have the feeling these are going to be worn a ton this Spring/Summer) and I grabbed my citron handbag for some fun colour - plus I love citron paired with animal print.

Taupe/silver leather wrap watch, silver ring, red specs and swipe of coral lipstick finish off the outfit.

Does this work? I'm wondering if the tee hits me in an unflattering spot and makes my hips look huge? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Danier Leather
Tee: Joe Fresh
Skirt: Cleo Petite
Shoes: Steve Madden
Handbag: Sergio Ferretti
Watch: Fossil (eBay)

So cool. I LOVE the animal print skirt!

The skirt is certainly the focal point and the eyes are drawn from your lovely face to the skirt. Would a black tee under the white jacket give a column of color look--give the eye a more definate direction to follow? Hard for me to imagine, but it might work too!

Your bag is great. I appreciate the color AND the texture. Delightful. As always, Shannon, a great look! (So happy to hear about the temperature.)

I love the citron bag...I have a leopard print skirt and will look for citron as an accessory...I wear my leopard skirt with a black tee and it is a great look...

Another winner Shannon.  I see what you mean about the length of the tee, but it's not bothering me at all in this outfit.  I think the proportions you have with the length of the skirt, make it work.  I don't know.  Will be  interesting to see what others say.

I like it very much :)
The peep toe booties/sandals look very good paired with that skirt.
I like the proportions, more than where the Tee hit you the jacket nips in at the right spot to give you a balanced silhouette.

Shannon...we have very similar tastes and wardrobes, so of course I love your outift today, and how happy you look wearing it.
I'm traveling for 3 days and also have my citron bag with me, along with a citron snakeskin band on my watch.
You will get a ton of wear from those cute shoes too...

I think this looks great and the tee lands in a perfectly good spot. Still loving those shoes on you!

What a great spring outfit! I love all the components and the citron bag is fun! I just love the shoes.what a perfect heel height! I don't understand why those aren't available in the states:(

    FABULOUS.

Those shoes are going to be workhorses. Enjoy the Spring weather - FINALLY.

That bag and those shoes are such winners!  Imagining an easy travel capsule for you built around those 2 things.  Just add your jeans outfit from the other day, today's work outfit and you're off!
(Found the shoes in my size btw, waiting anxiously! Thanks for the feedback)

Thanks for your replies ladies :)

Just before I left the house, I swapped the white tee for my black knit tank. I think the black grounds the outfit a bit more but I like the lightness of the white tee better. Always learning.

Angie - these shoes are indeed going to be workhorses for me. They are already my favorite footwear right now.

Laurie - what a fabulous capsule idea. Thank you so much! Fingers crossed the shoes work for you.

I like the look, but I love that your pleasure in spring is so apparent.  I feel the same way after a long Chicago winter which ends with the beautiful black snow.  We've survived & I too think it's warm enough for bare legs & open toes.  There is finally a point to those pedicures!

You look great!  Fun outfit with the animal print skirt and citron bag.  I love those shoes on you!

I really like this outfit on you, Shannon, and I think it works nicely with the white tee. (Bet it looked fab with the black tank, too.) If you had a longer white tee, it would be worth comparing the look. In one way, it would give you another line below the jacket, with could be quite flattering and would skim over the hip curve. In another way, it would look less structured. I don't find this rendition unflattering at all. I can understand feeling sensitive about lines at the hips, though, because I have those reservations about some of my outfits, too.
I love the print of that skirt--it reads as a subtle floral, animal print, and  vertical stripe all at once.

Looking as fabulous as you feel, Shannon! I agree with Celia; the shape of the jacket means the tee length works. Happy Spring!

YLF, Shannon, enjoy the sunshine :)

WOW. That skirt is gorgeous and those booties are too! And bare legs? BARE LEGS? It's still too cold in my neck of the woods. What gives? I thought it was supposed to be colder up in Canada than it is here in NY! I need about 10 more degrees, then it'll be bare leg season for me.

  • AJ replied 9 years ago

I think the length of the tee is fine because the jacket adds the structure. I'm just not sure about the quality of the tee. To my eye it does not seem as sophisticated as the rest of the outfit if that makes any sense.
Looking forward to seeing those new sandal booties a lot!

Shannon this looks so fab.  +2 degrees Celsius??  That is freezing for me lol.  That would be leggings, tall boots and a coat lol.  Obviously we acclimatize to where we live:)  I love you in black but these lighter tones are just beautiful.  And hubby (who I think I recall bought you the bag as a gift) get full marks.. it's a stunner.
