WIW: Taking my BF to work Mona style

I was inspired by Mona's BF outfit with the Old Navy shirt that we both have (sorry - couldn't find the link) so am copying her outfit today for casual Friday. Normally I would think boyfriend jeans are too casual for the office even on a casual Friday but today we're having an "office filing day" so should be ok.

I've added my snakeskin bag (can you tell I love this handbag?) for some pattern mixing with the striped shirt and my oversized gold watch for accessories.

Am I getting closer in taming my boyfriend? Does this work on me? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Shirt: Old Navy
Jeans: Gap Sexy Boyfriend
Shoes: Boutique 9
Handbag: Elliot Lucca
Watch: thrifted

I like this look, Shannon! I think you are dialing down how to make the BF style work for you. It looks comfortable but not sloppy, and I think the orange stripes are great.

It's perfect! It is the best BF look for an office...I might steal that next week. :-) I'm glad you're finding your zone with the BFs.

Great look, Shannon! I love the accessories and the foot wear. I've yet to get up the courage to take my BF to work - but maybe that's because my hubbie and I work in the same Dept ; )

    Here's Mona's post for you:

You both rock this look. Shannon this BF jeans outfit looks very "you". This looks like it was put together with ease and you look happy and comfortable. IMO this is you wearing the "BF's" not the BF's wearing you....does that make sense?

Thanks ladies! Hopefully I'm getting there in figuring out these BF of mine. As Una knows, I'm like a dog with a bone when I decide I'm going to get something right!

Deborah - thanks so much for finding the link to Mona's outfit. And yes, your comment about me wearing the jeans and not the other way around makes perfect sense. Thank you!

Wow! I just checked out Mona's thread (thank you for the link, Deb!) and I love BOTH of you in this look. Shannon, I definitely think you and the BF are coming to terms. He is really starting to flatter as well as comfort you!

Looks very nice Shannon - I guess this means it's a long term relationship.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Thanks Anne, Suz and textstyle! I'm not sure yet if it's a long term relationship but at least we aren't "on the rocks" anymore!

This is the BEST way you have worn your BF jeans, Shannon! Why? Because you added in the feminine elements:

    - soft drapey blouse
    - heels
    - some colour
    - and the all essential KILLER bag

Well done, stunning Shannon. You are fab inside and out :)

Maybe I should add the word "feminine" to my rubric?

Thanks Angie - I'm getting there thanks to your help! And fab examples from others like Mona!

    lOVE!

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

Very nice! I like the shoes and the bag with the BF especially.

How do you feel? Does it feel more like you?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Diana - I definitely do feel more like me. I think I can only do so much rugged or masculine in an outfit before it becomes too far from who I am, you know? Angie really hit the nail on the head when she brought up the missing feminine piece of my previous BF outfits. If I remember correctly, you also mentioned feminine to me.

    Thanks lyn!

I love this outfit! The boyfriend jeans look great with the soft shirt. I love the orange stripes on that shirt too. Makes me think I should pull out my BF jeans (which I've had for manyyears but if I cuff the bottoms they totally look like the current BF jean trend.
