WIW: Double Dose of Animal

Today's outfit started out with my black v-neck sheath dress. I topped it with my animal print cardigan (the print is on the front panels only) and decided to add another bit of animal print on my sheet by way of my Doc Danielle's. Then to pick up some of the cognac tones in the sweater and shoes, I've added my Fossill handbag. A red belt at my waist and a swipe of red lipstick adds a bit of colour.

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Lord & Taylor
Dress: Banana Republic
Belt: Danier Leather (thrifted)
Handbag: Fossil

    So polished, Shannon. Love it!

You do animal print well! I never wear it because it scares me, but love it on you! That dress is a perfect fit too.

I love the double dose of animal and double dose of red - you have amazing fashion instincts!

Are you serious? That's all more then fab!The Doc's do all the job for that outfit!:-))
I'm absolutely amazed how you can cary on such a charismatic shoe with your petite frame and a classic dress. I would do this too, but don't know how to start.
We don't have Doc's here, and so hard to find something simillar... still, I did have once (yet before, or maybe at the beginning of my YLF career:-)) some grey flatform Mary Janes, but back then I paired it with a few denim items only (jeans and some denim skirts)...
    How do you do that????

    Woah! Amazing!

Do you go sans hose in Canada? WOW! I love this. You look sleek and hip all rolled into one! I love an outfit anchored with a substantial shoe!

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Amazing! I covet that dress and how well it looks on you. This outfit needs to be repeated often.

  • catgirl replied 5 years ago

This is great! Enough going on but not OTT... just perfect!

I think pairing that cardi over the black dress is just brilliant. Love the contrasting sleeves. Beautiful outfit Shannon!

This is SUPER adorable, smart, classy and fun. And so much YOU!!!

Kelley - sans hose??? Not likely! It's warmer here but not that warm - I'm actually wearing two (yes two) pair of nude microfishnets for a bit of warmth but the look of bare legs.

lyn67 - I think shoes and footwear have become a huge part of my style and I love wearing something a bit unexpected.

Suz - "so much YOU" - it feels like ME too. And maybe that's what I've been missing a bit?

    Thanks ladies.

    KILLER animal instinct :)

Oooo! I love that vest! and the shoes, and the dress, and the belt, and the bag... :)

  • CocoLion replied 5 years ago

Shannon -- this is such a fab work outfit! I mean, it's got the work black thing going on, which is professional. Then you add a trendy leopard vest and booties and the outfit suddenly becomes fun and happy. In a way that's trendy yet approachable, and uniquely Shannon. This is genius -- I love when two seemingly conflicting forces come together seamlessly.

On another note, I read your other thread and am sorry you are feeling frustrated about fit and k/r issues in general. I remember a long time ago you said your tendency was to buy, rip off tags and wear things. I think this is part of your generous and accepting nature becoming more picky. Which means there will be more returning and frustration. Great fit is entirely possible, and this outfit is a testament to that fact.

ETA -- sweater not vest! It looks like a vest in this picture.

Very cute. And I love that bag.

  • Nicole D replied 5 years ago

Bold and well done! The red lipstick is the perfect touch.

  • rae replied 5 years ago

Ooh, I see a hint of rockabilly here! Love it to pieces! Something about the way the leopard sweater is colorblocked makes it so much more appealing to me than most leopard. Awesome.

I love the cardi and the addition of the red belt. So chic!

  • carolbee replied 5 years ago

I haven't noticed those shoes before, they are awesome!!! The whole outfit is fab.

    LOVE IT!

  • krishnidoux replied 5 years ago

Love it! Very cool. The title made me apprehensive: but it's no overload at all! Just the right dose and a bit daring, in a chic way. This dress is also perfect length, and I really like the red belt detail. Bravo!

  • goldenpig replied 5 years ago

Yay! I totally love matchy matchy and love the combo of leopard cardi (even cooler b/c it looks like a vest plus shoes. The pop of red with the belt/lipstick is perfect and the purse matches the color of the cardi and shoes as well. I am in matchy matchy bombshell heaven! Can I steal your outfit? You are looking fab and chic and stunning as always, Shannon!
