WIW: Shades of Grey & Frye Boots

I posted back a bit about my first eBay purchase being a pair of grey leather Frye boots (from some left over consignment sale dollars). Well they arrived, fit like they were made for me and are even more wonderful and comfortable than I had hoped for. You are going to get SICK of seeing these!

I paired the boots with matching grey tights and my B44 striped dress. On top of that, I popped on a wool blend, loose knit, drapey sweater that I normally reserve for weekends. But I thought it would work well to de-bomshell the dress for the work environment. To bring out the red in the dress and add some colour, I'm using my red quilted handbag and of course, a bright red lip. I've also added a bluish-purple lucite bangle that has flecks of gold in it for a bit of daytime sparkle.

I feel fab in this outfit and I think it's because everything fits so well. I feel curvy in the best way, modern and still modest.

What do you think? Does it all work together?

BTW - these double shaft leather Frye's are $297 on Revolve Clothing's website and I got them for $85!

Sweater: Jessica (Sears brand)
Dress: Anthropologie
Tights: Hue
Boots: Frye
Handbag: Nine West (thrifted)
Bangle: thrifted

A perfect outfit and the colors suit you. I would so wear this outfit.

Love the greys Shannon and the hit of red is perfection. I would like to see it with the cardi unbuttoned so more of the detail of the dress shows.

    Always something huh?

Cute, Shannon! I still haven't busted my dress out yet. I should before it gets colder! Great score on the boots, they are lovely.

What cute wedge heels on those boots, and your red lipstick is the exact perfect shade - how did you do that??

  • Karie replied 11 years ago

You should feel fab in this outfit because you look fab!

I love the stripes on the dress, and the pops of red. Super cute! (Dare I detect a little sass??? ;-)

Great steal on the boots! The outfit looks fab.

The only thing wrong with the outfit photos to my eye was I could not see your new boots clearly but you took care of that with the last photos, so all is perfect now.

Wow, knocking it out of the galaxy this morning, girl! This is gorgeous! Amazing boots, and I love these colours on you. No wonder you feel good. You look FAB!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Thank you ladies! I think grey is to me what taupe is to Suz!

Dianthus - I'll give it a go with the cardi unbuttoned just for you!

Love your new boots! That dress looks like it was made just for you. What a great find! I think I'd like to see it without the sweater vest.

  • Sara L. replied 11 years ago

I'm so glad the boots worked out for you! This outfit is great with the stripes on the dress and the grey sweater and boots.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Rita - for me, the dress is a bit too body con for work without a topper. Maybe 10 pounds down from now, I'll wear it without.

    Thanks Sara!

Gorgeous score!! Those boots bookend your hair so nicely - I cannot wait to see them again and again. :D

Great outfit. Love the stripes, the boots and pop of red! Great Styling!

  • celia replied 11 years ago

Oh yeah baby, everything works together :)
I won't mind seeing those boots again because they are so so cute.
The cardigan gives a more relaxed shape to the B44 that I really like, and what can anyone say about that fab lipstick :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Rae - I never even thought about the boots bookending my hair - bonus!

    Thanks Rae, Tracey & Celia!

Very nice! Everything has come together so nicely, hasn't it?

A grey jacket would probably also work well.

I'm jealous of the red lipstick. I look like a sick clown when I wear it. I have to layer a nude lipstick over it to tone it down.

  • Sona replied 11 years ago

I would love to see this outfit with nude micronet stockings. You rock the lipstick and it makes eveything pop!!!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Really nice, Shannon. I love how you are finding new items that fit right in with what already works for you. Once you have that base, new purchases just seem to fall into place. Think of all the boot options you can spin out of this dress!

I'm grey with envy. Love the lipstick too!
