WIW: White after Labour Day

What have you done to me Angie? White jeans AFTER Labour Day??? I was quietly chuckling to myself when putting these on this morning 'cause I felt like such a rebel!

I've paired my white jeans with my mauve J Jill silk blouse and my black/cream Doc Sara oxfords. For jewelry, I'm wearing a silver stretch bracelet with abalone shells and on the opposite hand, a silver and rose gold ring (present from hubby). For my handbag today I'm wearing my charcoal snakeskin clutch.

I digging the simplicity of this outfit - what do you think? Does it work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blouse: J Jill
Jeans: Jeanne Bekker
Shoes: Doc Martens Sara oxfords
Clutch: Sondra Roberts (thrifted)
Bracelet: thrifted
Ring: gift

Ok Shannon I have used up all the adjectives to describe how you look...
I have to now learn new words...
BTW you look fab as ever and I have to steal your shoes and bags :P:P:P

The mauve is a wonderful color to wear with the white. Simple, elegant and stylish. Now you have me wondering if tomorrow would be warm enough to pull out my white jeans...I haven't worn them yet.

I like this very much, Shannon- it reminds me of Suz's pairing of taupe with white - the white really brightens the neutrality of the mauve and the taupe in a way that's quite stunning.

    Well done!

I love the mauve and white, and I think those jeans look smashing on you. The Saras peeking out are very fun too.

    Gorgeous!

Well, I would say that. Mauve, taupe...you KNOW these are cousins, right?

Guess what? I have been wearing my white jeans ALL WEEK!!!!!

After not wearing them all summer and thinking I might dye them. Yeah. I had to wash them once to have them ready again for the morning!

They are right for this temperature range. Which happens only a few weeks per year where I live - but I guess it's nice to have something like that for this time of year.

    I LOVE this!

Love this Shannon! I agree that the sharpness of the contrast with B/W is really good for that dusky purple. The brilliance of exciting shoes and bag with a simple outfit is finally starting to catch on with me. Duh! I've been looking for clutches like that all summer, but alas, they have not ended up in my usual haunts yet. I love yours even more because it was thrifted. Yay!

Like you and Suz, I've been wearing my white clams more than ever now that it's cooling off, and I've even broken out my white full length jeans a time or two for *evening*. The genius of white jeans is in their transition-ability, IMO. You can wear them with neutrals or autumn colors for fall, and also with brights for spring. Throw that old rule book away because you look fab Miss Shannon!

I love this outfit and will probably recreate it soon. I have a mauve blouse and white jeans that would look great together. I've also been wearing my white jeans (and white shoes for that matter) after Labor Day. I generally ignore the Labor Day thing since it never corresponds to the weather here. It's still super hot so why should I suddenly stop wearing all my whites?

  • rae replied 11 years ago

I think NOT wearing this outfit after Labour Day - and as often as possible - is the real fashion crime. ;)

    High five, Rae!

White jeans in Sept are PERFECT in my book. I'm wearing my white jeans so much it's ridiculous.

You Look Fab!! So fresh and kind of seasonsless. Your new furry vest will look great here too.

    Great outfit with lovely details!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Thank you all so much! I'm ridiculously happy in this outfit! And Angie - my furry vests (I ordered two sizes to find the best fit) were shipped yesterday. Can hardly wait!

I love that blouse, and I have its other-colored cousins! You look fab!

How do you get the sleeves of the blouse to stay scrunched up? Mine always slide down my arms.Teach me, O wise one...

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Ah my young padewan - I make sure the buttons on the cuff are done up, roll it once to make the opening narrower and then push them up until they are quite snug and voila - they stay put.

Don't you love these blouses? I have it in the soft denim blue as well.

This is such a fresh, simple, perfect formula, Shannon - you should wear a version of it all year! Trousers in winter white?

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

OK, ladies - I'm going to wear my white jeans some more!

  • Ginny replied 11 years ago

Love this outfit and the cute shoes peekingout are of course fab!!

  • ElleH replied 11 years ago

If the sun is still out why not? I don't know where you live but it's been in the 100s here this week. I agree with those waiting for it to be cool enough to wear jeans & warm enough to wear white. That purple is taking it into fall too. You look great.

  • Sona replied 11 years ago

lovely!! I wore a jjill silk shirt today too! i really like this color shirt paired with the white jeans!

  • JR replied 11 years ago

Hurray for rule-breaking! Hurray for purple (hey, it's almost lavender...)! Hurray for white jeans, which are firmly on my wish list! Hurray for another successful outfit!

    Woot!

  • KathyL replied 11 years ago

I plan on wearing my white pants through September! I love the shoes and purse with this outfit. I also wore my Jjill blouse today!!
