WIW: Thanks to Ironkurtain

When IK joined YLF, I was instantly intrigued by her fabulous layering with such luxurious fabrics. I was particularly curious about Eileen Fisher since IK spoke so highly about the feel of her clothes, the breath ability and the way they held up. This clearly stuck in my mind. As I began to explore the idea of more comfortable pieces for my wardrobe, EF stuck out as a brand to try. Thanks IK for the inspiration!

Today's outfit started with my EF cropped pants, this time rolled for a bit more ankle showing and to give a bit more taper. I do like them unrolled as well so it's nice to have different length options. To go with the pants, I chose my newly arrived EF blue linen blend boxy hi-lo oversized pullover - with a black tank layered underneath for modesty. This pullover also looks fab with white bottoms, BF jeans and shorts and my VC tube skirts. I went with my black sandals for footwear and my quilted leather blue/cream/black handbag. Red specs finish off the outfit.

So what do you think? Does this type of look work on me? The comfort and happiness factors are definitely high. As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Pants & pullover: Eileen Fisher (eBay)
Sandals: Clark's
Handbag: Danier Leather

I think you look amazing Shannon.  Simple, comfortable, stylish, and HAPPY!   I'm also very intrigued by EF... wish I could try some on before having to order it!

This pullover was made for you, Shannon. The colour is all kinds of fab on you and the pairing with black cropped pants and black sandals is awesome. I can feel your level happiness from across the monitor.

I can't express how much I love this outfit. I want to own it. I can almost feel those wonderful fabrics. I have a very similar older EF tee but it lacks the high- low hem that makes yours so stylish. That blue is killer paired with black. I'm inspired.

Two thumbs up, Shannon! Can you pm me the sellers you have found? I would be interested in trying some pieces and a good seller on eBay is gold.

I'd be interested in the eBay sellers too Shannon, if you don't mind sharing...

I've found two really good Eileen sellers, will post when I get a chance (might be a while, sorry, new job!).

I can't claim credit for either Eileen or eBay, although I will say I was an enthusiastic early adapter when her daughter began designing and Eileen started to incorporate more modern shapes. But many of my friends of a certain age are now joining me on the fabulous-fabrics-flatteringly-easy-fit wagon, hurrah! I'm mostly sized out of a lot of her stuff, but when it works life is fab.

Well I love this, and I should because I'm wearing a very similar silhouette today! My ankle pants are plaid and unrolled (that's the big difference), my top is a linen blend and is a drapey style, and I had to take a second look to see if our sandals are exactly the same or not (they're not, I don't think mine are Clarks).

It's going to be a good day, girlfriend!

Looking good, Shannon! You have the Eileen Fisher aesthetic down. And you look very happy and comfortable, as well as stylish.

IK - you may not be able to claim credit for EF or eBay but you are still the primary reason I even started thinking about these types of items and the difference a great fabric can make.

Thank you all soooooo much for the outfit love :) I will shamelessly admit - I FEEL fantastic in this outfit.

The way your rolled the pants looks perfect to me and the sandals are great. I love the blue top and have a similar color so may try to copy this. But I don't have the bag, which couldn't be more perfect here!

Love the proportions and colors and it's amazing that the difference is fabric is even visible in photos.  You look relaxed and lovely.

How are you feeling without accessories now that you're simplifying your dressing (In such a fab way)?  My inner magpie would crave one bold cuff, or a scarf / necklace.  Not saying that it's necessary -- just asking about your happiness factor.  If you're like me, your bag isn't with you most of the day.

Those shoes have been terrific for you -- modern, beautiful, but comfy and versatile.

Thanks Beth Ann - and I think sometimes you're in my head! As soon as I got in the car I realized I had forgotten to put on my large silver cuff, which is sitting on the kitchen table as we speak.

Stunning, Shannon. I love that colour on you and can just imagine how terrific it will also look with white. You've done so well with EF.

I wish I were not sized out of so much. I would love to have an EF wardrobe for my work-at-home capsule especially.

The edgy shoes and modern bag make the outfit for me - great fit on the EF basics, too. I say it's a win!

I really want to try EF myself! All you girls are rocking her designs! This outfit is perfection Shannon. Love everything about it. The top is a beautiful shade of blue and so flattering AND forgiving. Brilliant :)

Here's one of my favorite eBay Eileen sellers: http://www.ebay.com/sch/gin-ge.....038;_rdc=1

She always has things I can't find anywhere else, and they come in lovely condition.  I don't know what her connection is but she also seems to carry quite a few samples and other items that don't make it into general sales.  Her prices aren't screaming bargains but they are fair. I have gotten a few things that smell a little bit like cigarette smoke, but it hasn't been a dealbreaker.  Highly recommend.

Thanks all - what I found interesting today is that there was zero fuss factor in my outfit. I didn't tug of adjust a darn tootin' thing all day. I was comfortable and felt fab.

I've sent some of you messages with my fave eBay sellers (Amy I'll PM you tomorrow). I'm choosing not to broadcast my "sources" on the public forum if you don't mind.

  • LAR101 replied 9 years ago

Yes !! This really works!! Love the blue on you.  Whole outfit is killer.
