WIW: Tartan & Sparkles

Today is another example of an easy outfit - trousers and a pullover. That's it.

I chose my black watch tartan trousers to start with and decided to pair them with my navy sparkly sweater. I actually popped on my navy Lanai blazer over top of that and although it worked well, decided I wanted to be a little simpler today with less layers.

For footwear I went with my Doc Marcie wedge boots and chose my black leather handbag. For jewelry, I'm wearing my silver wedding band and the silver tree necklace my hubby gave me for Christmas.

Nothing fancy but I think this works together…yes? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Pullover: Laura Petite
Trousers: Lord & Taylor
Boots: Doc Martens
Handbag: Danier Leather

ETA: I have NO idea what is happening with my crotch area in pic #2 - I swear the trousers don't look like that. Must have been the way the pants pulled in by the way I was standing. Yikes!

I was just thinking the other day about Angie's tartan with sparkle formula. It was yonks ago - do you recall it?

Simple and fab. I would totally copy this if I could only find tartan pants for me! :-)

Another winner Shannon!  (and one I can copy, tee hee)  Totally jealous of the slouch you get with your tartan trousers...

I absolutely love that sweater, it's the one your DH or DS gave you, correct?

One of your best! The unexpected pairing of sequins and tartan is a fun way to do daytime sparkle. Do your coworkers notice your outfits?

You had me at tartan :) Love this look on you Shannon!

Nice! I like how from a distance it looks like black, but close up you can see the fun sparkles and plaid pattern. I love stealth details like that.

Re: pants creasing. I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it but it's just a consequence of how you're standing. I always pose with my legs apart when wearing looser trousers so the fabric doesn't get caught.

This is how to make an interesting, stylish outfit with just a top and bottom. And great shoes and bag of course!

    Love the plaid with sparkles!

You look great!  I think with the plaid and sparkles you don't need a lot of layers or accessories.  The pieces are bold enough on their own.

Fun and a bit festive for Friday!

I love that the outfit is easy because those gorgeous, special pieces are doing all the work.  I can't get over how amazing those trousers are for you.  You look fantastic!

The outfit is beautiful in its simplicity. The tartan slacks and sparkly top add all the WOW you need. You look stunning.

Simple and striking! All the punch is in the details here - pattern and sparkle. Love that built in interest....

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

The sparkle makes all the difference. Super fab look.

Are you finding your style way in the new job, Shannon?
