WIW: Taking the Tube to Work

The VC tube skirt that is...

I'm in love with the Vince Camuto tube skirt and because my office is not corporate dress but more business casual, this type of skirt is fine in the workplace as long as I don't wear it with a tank and no jacket and flats like I would for casual wear.

So I started the outfit with my black and white thin striped tube skirt and added my black tiered tank, topped with my white blazer. For footwear I chose my bone/silver sandals and am using my cobalt/cream/black quilted handbag for a bit of colour and texture. Jewelry is a grey/silver enamel bangle and my silver wedding band.

I'm watching The Bay website for when they mark down the VC tube skirt in black and white polka dots. I got this one for $29 and when the polka dot one goes down in price, I'm pouncing. I can wear these from early right to mid fall with boots and before tights are needed.

What do you think? does the blazer and footwear choices dress up the tube skirt enough for work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: Nygard
Tank: RW & Co (thrifted)
Shoes: Fugitive
Handbag: Danier Leather
Bangle: thrifted

Shannon, I love this outfit on you.  Just beautiful.  Every day I find it harder to believe that when I did the VC tube skirt "2-for" special, I didn't try a stripe.  They really pop!

Love it Shannon.  I think it has a ladylike vibe that fits your style but has great visual interest.

I went to the Bay after you posted about the skirt but wasn't able to find any.  :(

Ooh, I love this outfit. Simple but so striking--especially with the cool structured bag. I've got this skirt and you are making me think I need to wear it soon :)

Just perfect for work! I think the skirt will work with boots in cooler weather as well.

Looks super to me! I like how you scrunched your sleeves.

Crisp and polished, with an added dose of perfect proportion and comfort, and a pop of color.

Love the way you mix whites, off whites and nudes freely.  Must remember that I can do that, too!

I love it, Shannon! The stripes are fab, and the bag is fabtastic.

I'm pretty sure I'm at my happiest style-wise when I'm wearing black and white :)  And not only was my happiness factor high for the look of the outfit, but the comfort level as well.  These skirts ROCK!

Thank you for your lovely comments ladies.

Ha!  We were almost twins today, Shannon! The only difference was that my shoes were nude and my bag was silver :-)
...so of course I like your outfit a lot!

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

    Perfect - honestly :)

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Perfect mix of casual and non casual here.  And those shoes are really fun!

Love the "title" of your post, your new VC tube skirt (we're sisters as I have the wide-striped version), the nude/neutral shoes and, especially, your inspiration to kick my you-know-what into gear and post my action on the tube.  :)

P.S.  Hope you see that mark down coming soon so polkadots are in your future.

I love the smaller strip on you Shannon! The white jacket keeps it summery and I love the shine on your feet. This is a perfect way to wear a tube skirt to work. I can also see this with tights booties and a leather jacket for fall. Fabulous!

This is fab!  I think the bright blue bag just makes the outfit!!
