Yes it really does work. It is interesting because a cropped pant with a horizontal line should be leg shortening in theory but to my eye, this outfit is having the opposite effect. Very nice silhouette and proportion Shannon.

Love this Shannon...great outfit, and you look fabulous in it !!

Fabulous look on you, Shannon! Just gorgeous. Love those booties and am jealous you can wear them. (It's still way too cold to do that here...)

Cheryle - I found the same thing when I looked at the pictures. My legs don't look short in this outfit which is interesting. I'm thinking it has to do with the color of the booties matching my skin tone quite well but I'm not sure.
dakotacheryl - thank you :)
Suz - it's going to be +10 today and it's dry so warm enough in my world to break out peep toes. Aren't these oh so comfy? I'm still thinking on getting the black too but now that I have my ankle strap pointy toe pumps, I'm not sure I could justify the need.

Absolutely! I'll be sporting a similar silhouette, although most of my tops are sleeveless (not working much over the summer). Love those shoes on you -- they'll work in so many settings.
I'm not giving up my bf's though -- although the pants I add will be of a different silhouette.

Love it. Those booties are fab. I'm the opposite of you. Now I have a black version and I'm itching for some nude ones....

Ha! The booties are the star of the show apparently :)
Angie - WOW! Thank you so much. I'm thinking this simplicity thing is the way to go for me.

Love! Those bootie sandals are awesome and do make your legs look a mile long.

This is the direction I've been headed too, Shannon, so of course I love it. My only challenge is that when I feel like stepping it up, my shadow style comes out and I have nothing flamboyant or statement-y anymore! The Era challenge really brought out this fact for me. This duality is a constant push-pull for me, between my UWP/RATE side, which tends toward simple distressed edge, and my Indian love of OTT color and print. Are you finding this at all?
-
Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago
Una - every once in a while I feel a pull toward my retro loving side but I find now that I can incorporate that in small doses and still maintain the simplicity side I'm wanting to develop.
Overall I'm looking to have outfits that are simple overall but where each element fits perfectly, the outfit overall has an element of edge (usually my footwear), feminine but not girl (if that makes sense), comfortable but not sloppy and pairs elements of tailored/slim fitting and fluidity, but not voluminous. I'm still madly in love with Eileen Fisher clothing and style so will continue to wear and purchase her items as I adore the quality, comfort, and ease but will not be looking for her oversized type of things - more like slim leg trousers with a drapey tank and one of my structured toppers, that sort of thing. Does that make sense?

I typically am not much for the peep toe, stack heel booties. They are too 90s to my eye. BUT... I love them on you! I love how simple your outfits are. They are simple, but not too stark or urban. Just...chic and sleek!
mwahs and love!

I recently purchased a similar pair of booties due to my love for the black pair that are workhorses in warmer weather, and am taking note of this simplicity that you have so perfectly rendered. You've inspired Deb and you both sucked me in...I hope to do you proud ;-) off to make a virtual outfit!

Fab outfit Shannon! And thanks for the inspiration. There is just something about simplicity that you cannot beat. This is elegant, modern, infact it ticks all my style boxes.

I love the architectural simplicity and structure that your top gives this outfit. It is a nice change from soft draped pieces. The blouse thingy is a Find.

Great look! I love the booties. I have a similar pair of black ones and I love the idea of nude ones but I can't decide if they'll get enough wear once the weather warms up. I bought the black ones in the fall so don't have any history with them in the summer. I'm really loving the look on you though.

Loving your booties too Shannon, Great outfit!

Hmm, strange. I know I commented on this because my outfit was very similar when I saw it... Only I was in bootcut jeans and waterproof, warm, winter booties :(. Just wanted to echo my love for this, esp your proportions. Totally nailed this one!
