WIW: Silky shorts go to work

I confirmed yesterday with my boss that my silky shorts would meet the dress code for work and after given the thumbs up, popped them on this morning.
I love the feel of these silk/polyester blend shorts. The looseness of the fit is incredibly comfortable and IMO, they hit a home run with the slouchy trend.

I've paired them with a cobalt/black wide striped silky tee that has gold panels on each side which work wonders for slimming my mid section. I've semi tucked to rein in some of that volume and to expose my black belt with gunmetal buckle.

Shoes are the debut of my Enzo Angiolini black patent leather pumps with cut outs. I had to wait for warmer weather to wear these babies. I think they're so pretty and the comfort level is a 10.

Handbag is my mustard/cobalt snakeskin clutch and jewelry is my gold wedding ring and gold menswear watch.

What do you think? How are the proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Tee: Attitude by Jay Manuel
Shorts: Baby Phat (thrifted)
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini (thrifted)
Clutch: Trouve
Watch: thrifted

Love this on you!  It looks so fab and yes, a homerun on slouchy and silky shorts!!

  • Liz A. replied 10 years ago

You look so fab!  Those shoes are just TDF.  I cannot believe they are thrifted.  And I'm soooooo jealous of how comfortable you look for work.  If I'm being totally honest, though, I have to be an outlier on the shirt.  I don't find it super flattering... kinda makes your shoulders look big.  Sorry!!!

Fabulous! You look soooo lean in that top. Shoes and shorts areto die for.

  • harmonica replied 10 years ago

Super cool! Love the patent cut out pumps and have been waiting to see them out and about :-)

Looks fantastic Shannon - one of my favorites for you. It's so on trend without looking like you are trying to be on trend.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

well, I need a top like that! It is so flattering! and it is really fun that you can wear shorts to work.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

KILLER gorgeous!! So modern and chic!

Good Grief. Your style quotient is extra sizzling this year, Shannon.

    *fanning myself*

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

Looks great! I always think of shorts as being above the knee so I wouldn't have thought of these as shorts and as a problem at work.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

This is so lovely. What fantastic shorts, and the top is super flattering!

  • citygirldc replied 10 years ago

Sheer perfection. May I borrow the look?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

    *blushing*

My goodness y'all know how to make a gal feel good :)

Liz - no need to apologize for an honest opinion.

    Angie - :)

Citygirldc - borrow away! I'd be flattered.

This outfit will most likely be repeated many, many times over the next couple of months so hopefully you won't be sick of it. I have received many lovely compliments at work today and feel fab in this.

Wow!  I am generally horrified at the thought of any kind of shorts in any kind of office, but this outfit knocks my socks off!  LOVE!!!

  • Nicole D replied 10 years ago

    Va voom (!)

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

I was on the fence about longer shorts, but you have shown me how it's done right. LOVE this outfit on you!

  • JuneBug replied 10 years ago

Love, love, love! I'm going to do a similar copy on this one! Thank you for the inspiration, everything looks perfectly put together and I have similar items in my wardrobe, although my silk shorts are knee length and fitted!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Love the sleekness and ever so slight cheekiness of this outfit!  The way the panels on the side melt in to the wall behind you is better than any photoshop technique (lol).  The shoes?  Well, if I could plunk my money down for a pair, I would!

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

    Great!

    Perfect in every way!!!!

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

So flattering!  Glad you got the thumbs up for them at work - should make summer dressing so much more fun :)

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

Love this. This type of short may solve my summer wardrobe issues :) :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Thank you so much everyone - I'm positively glowing from your lovely comments :)

Elle - I haven't lost any more weight but continuing to tone up. Thanks for noticing.

I'm thinking I could try pairing these silky shorts with my shorter light knit black blazer as a pseudo short suit and will definitely be giving them a bash with my Club Monaco floral blazer.

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

    Wow.

  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago

Oh my, Shannon... Speechless... Amazing in every way. YLF!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

What a great debut of the silky shorts! Lovely!
BTW I am not sure it is just the slimming effect of the gold panels...girl, you are definitely melting away!;-)

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I love this outfit! And you are looking so skinny, girlfriend!

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago
