WIW: There's a new BF in town

There was a fair bit of controversy about the fit of these oversized jeans when I posted them last week as potential BF jeans. I had ordered them to be regular fitting slim leg jeans but alas, they were too big. Based on the lack of refund due to shipping & duty charges, I decided to make lemonade out of lemons and hacked them up for BF jeans.

Based on the feedback I received, last night I cut another inch off the length and brought them out to play today. Angie mentioned that I wasn't wearing shoes in my previous thread and she is so right that it makes all the difference. These are now my favourite BF style jean in my wardrobe. The denim is super soft and I love the wash. Plus they are just crazy comfortable. I think I have FINALLY figured out my BF baggy threshold.

I've paired the jeans with my yellow/oatmeal striped sweater. It is cold and rainy here today so a little more warmth was definitely required. I've semi tucked the sweater and added my animal print belt for some pattern mixing and visual interest. I wanted to wear my Blondo sandals but again because of the weather, more foot coverage was needed so I've popped on my neutral pointy toe pumps. Handbag is my cream leather satchel and jewelry is my silver wedding band and white watch. Happiness factor? Pretty darned good :)

What do you think? Are these working as BF jeans to your eye? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Gap
Jeans: Canyon River Blues
Belt: Streets Ahead
Handbag: Danier Leather
Watch: thrifted

    Sweet lemonade :) Great job.

Now,  this is the best BF look on you ever, Shannon! What a fortune you haven't sent them back, and followed your gut to cut them! Bravo!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Terrific, Shannon! They actually look "neat" if that is possible in a baggy jean.

  • ruthe replied 10 years ago

Good morning. They look like BF jeans to me and what a lovely job, also. Yes, you do look happy and comfortable. Wonderful job :)

The boyfriends look wonderful with those pumps - I see I am going to love everything you wear with them. The bf length is perfect!

Joy - I saw your thread on finding the right BF for you. I can totally see you wearing the style. For me, it was a matter of two things: becoming comfortable in a baggier silhouette and finding the right fitting BF. Some were too wide in the legs and for me, at only 5 feet, that was a deal breaker. That's why I like these - better fitting in the legs.

lyn67 - thanks so much. I have had a tempestuous relationship with my various BF's and it took a while to figure out just how slouchy and baggy I was willing to go.

Shevia - these pumps have turned out to be one of my best purchases. They just go with everything thanks to the neutral color, are extremely comfortable and seem to give a bit of elegance to each outfit thanks to the ladylike shape.

Thank you for your comments Ceit, Rute, Caro, Suz and Ruthe :)

Styling does make all the difference, doesn't it?  Love this look, and I think both the silhouette and wash/color of the denim is perfect for you.  Very fresh and Summery!

  • shedev replied 10 years ago

I can tell by your smile that your happy is high.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Big fun, way to save the jeans!

SUPER cute!  Those leg-lengthening pumps are the key to the whole endeavor, I think!

BTW, I was in the elevator with a very stylish lady in my apartment building, last night and I admired her gorgeous cognac leather moto jacket.  She's French Canadian, and guess where the jacket was from?  Danier Leather!  I thought of you and all the Canadian Fabbers and had a gigantic Danier Leather jealousy attack!  LOL

They look really good. I like this length, it looks very casual!I would even roll one more time but that's just me!

As a "rearsider" I'm dying to know what the back looks like. I think that's what's been holding me back from buying a real pair of bf jeans. I have some bf type skinnies, no baggies though.

  • merwoman replied 10 years ago

oh yeah - that's the way it's done! Gorgeous Shannon - I especially like the colour of the rinse. It seems that it has gray tones?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

MaryK - yep, the shoes are the key. They look good with my new Blondo sandals too, which provide leg lengthening. Too funny about the Danier jacket - at least we have one thing to be jealous about!

Rita - here's the original thread when posted these re: possibility of wearing as BF jeans. There's a rear view shot you can see. They aren't the most flattering from behind, but they are pretty good for oversized IMHO - http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....s-bf-jeans

merwoman - it's a funny kind of color, almost like a "dusty" denim, like you were out working in a field with your new jeans on and this what they looked like at the end of the day.

Thanks Beth Ann, Shedev and Rae.

    *HUGGING YOU*

Each day you are SO CUTE I can't stand it. Loving the BF's with pumps, Shannon - high five that's my Summer Uniform and one I am wearing right now!

  • JulieJohn replied 10 years ago

Gonna check out your Blondo sandals cause I'm a 5-foot twin and need to use wonder-twin powers to channel your leg lengthening vibe. This outfit looks scrumptious, and perfectly proportioned. Excellent!

  • celia replied 10 years ago

    It surely works for me.
I love the pumps with the bf and that yellow blouse is one of my favourites one you.

  • greenglove replied 10 years ago

Love this look- I need to copy.
Where did you get the pumps? I would love some comfy low heeled gems like those.
You look very happy and stylish!!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Angie - hugging you right back :)  It's interesting how the pumps give the jeans a completely different feel.

Julie - these pic below are the Blondo sandals I bought. Because of the lighter criss-cross straps in the front, I don't find them leg shortening at all even though I would never normally wear this high a vamp.

    Thanks Celia!

Jean - the pumps are Cole Haan Air Juliana and I got them at The Bay here. But they are available on Amazon and may be at Nordstrom as well.  They are the most comfortable pumps I've ever had on my feet. I was originally looking for nude but didn't like the color tones of the ones I tried. Then I tried these taupe patent ones and that was it. And they go with EVERYTHING.
