WIW: Blue Stripes

I love this dress that I found at Cleo Petite several weeks back. I'm not normally a huge fan of the elasticized waist on short, high-waisted me but I think the overall slim fit of the dress balances that out and it works on this one. I did swap out the skinny black belt that came with the dress and am wearing my thicker black leather belt with gunmetal buckle. I also like the longer length of this dress and the wide shoulders - no fear of bra strap showing.

I've topped the dress with my white denim jacket and added my light cream satchel for my pops of white that I am craving these days. Footwear are my trusty old Clarks sandals.

I originally had on my white leather belt with the dress which I really liked but then the dark sandals looked out of place. I then tried my new Blondo sandals but the brown was just wrong with these colours. This has me wondering if I need white sandals? Jewelry is my chrome/white bangle watch.

So what do you think of this outfit? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Nice dress! I love the shape of it. I think you should investigate white sandals :)

I love that dress on you! Love! I am beginning to think that Cleo Petite is your cover name for the magic fairy that grants your clothes wishes. Am completely in favor of your white additions and will support you in white sandal hunt!

I like the sandals here, but white would offer you versatility!  Love this entire look on you, great job!

What a great, easy dress. Love it on you, Shannon. Looks easy to dress down, too, for casual weekend stuff.

White sandals, white sandals. ARGH!!! I have been online looking (and in stores, trying) ever since I decided that I detest my new "gold" Clarks sandals and I need white instead!! I haven't found a single stylish option that I like and that is comfortable yet. I have found a few stylish ones that hurt, and a few unstylish ones.

You could wear this with your DV oxfords, no?

Ceit - always appreciate your enabling :)

Shevia - Cleo Petite is definitely my "go to" store and yet there's really only about 30% of items in there that I like. They do unfortunately carry a lot of frumpy and "old lady" clothing.

    Tracey - thank you!

Suz - oh no! You detest your gold Clarks? Why - they look great on you? I've done a bit of looking for white and you aren't kidding. It's like looking for the Holy Grail. I'll let you know if I come across anything. And DUH...I didn't even think of the DV oxfords...what a dunce!

I dislike them because they are too large for me (they didn't come in half sizes, alas) and too clunky. I like how they look from the front, but not the side. And while the footbed is pretty comfortable, the comfort factor reduces when you're sliding around in them. Ugh. So I want sandal that sort of straddles the line between casual and dressy and is white. Hmmm.

That's what I'm looking for too Suz - a hunting we will go!

That's too bad about the Clarks though. Are you able to add any sort of insole or padding to help them fit better?

Love this on you!  So pretty, and you found a dress with length!!  No sleeves, but still, length!!!

White sandals would be nice to bookend the topper, but the ones you have on are quite nice too.

I like this outfit as is Shannon, but I think you will get a lot of use from white sandals.

    KILLER

You are Queen Midi - and at 5ft to boot :)

My thumbs are up for white sandals.

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

This is great!  The shape is so flattering!

    And yes!  White sandals!

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

Great dress! You are looking particularly fab and fit these days, Shannon!

  • citygirldc replied 10 years ago

    You inspire me. Great dress.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Thistle - ha! I knew you'd comment about no sleeves - lol!

Angie - you KNOW I would never have tried a midi without your encouragement :)

MaryK and Janet - thank you so much. I do like how this dress hugs my curves in a good way.

    Thanks Shedev and DC!

And clearly white sandals are a need - here's hoping I can find something.

You look fantastic in this outfit, Shannon!
It's hard to say whether you "need" white sandals, but I'm sure you'd enjoy them and look fab.
I have to show you what I have on my Pinterest board right now. If it weren't for the astronomical price they would be mine. They'd be great on you. SIGH!

    Huh. I love those, Marcy.

ALL the stylish ones are super expensive. And all the less expensive ones are either uncomfortable or old-lady. She said, grumpily.

I might revert to a pair of white pumps like Angie's. Those, I can find.

  • dlb1960 replied 10 years ago

Ooohhhh! LOVE this dress on you. LOVE IT!!!!

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

YLF & so would white sandals :)

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

The dress looks fantastic, and I love it with the black and white accessories. Hopefully you will be more successful at your white sandal shopping than I was at my nude pumps shopping - after about 100 pairs, I gave up (for now) :(

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

I can understand why you love this dress. It looks fab on you and will probably be a FFB all summer. The white denim jacket looks great with it. You need light sandals.

  • qfbrenda replied 10 years ago

I love the dress on you!  I'll be the outlier and suggest metallic or nude sandals instead of white.  They would be more versatile.

  • krishnidoux replied 10 years ago

I don't know if you need white sandals but the ones you are wearing here are perfect with this gorgeous dress! I love it! Pure Shannon style at its best.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Completely beautiful!  I hear you on the white sandals.  I'm considering buying some leather paint and giving a try to painting some other pair.

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

Oh I almost missed this and it's so great I'm glad I didn't. This looks really great on you Shannon - very figure flattering and elongating which seems funny since it has horizontal stripes. Just goes to show me I gotta try things on. Nude sandals would work here too wouldn't they? I'm just not sure I'm sold on white yet. Gotta see what you find I guess.
