WIW : Shades of Grey & Snakeskin

Next to black and white, grey is becoming my favourite neutral. It works well with my salt-n-pepper hair and seems to go with everything.

I popped on my grey and black tweed tuxedo-like slouchy pants and paired it with my voluminous grey striped merino wool sweater. I'm kind of surprised that I like volume with volume on my short frame. To pull out both the cream stripe in the sweater and the cream flecks in the tweed, I'm wearing my SE python booties (have I mentioned that Angie and Inge were right that I would be able to wear these no problem?).

For jewelry, I'm wearing my silver Haida wedding band and my silver and white bangle watch. My handbag is my black patent croc one because I thought the round silver clasp echoed the round silver watch.

On top of all that when I head out the door is my short citron puffer and a beautiful cream scarf and glove set with crystals embedded - a Christmas gift from my boss.

What do you think? Does it work together? proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Puffer: Esprit
Scarf & gloves: gift
Sweater: Lord & Taylor
Trousers: Jessica (Sears brand)
Boots: Sam Edelman
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)
Watch: thrifted

Yes! Love the sweater and those trousers together. The booties
Add a nice lightness and tie into the stripes of the sweater.

I really like the way the way the pants and top match and the tuxedo stripe kind of gives it a fashionable track suit look. Hope that sounds good, it is meant as a compliment! Glad you got the shoes, they work with everything!

Oh this is so zesty and cosy and lovely --- intimations of spring wrapped into a cozy winter package. And so easy... yet with so much thought going into the details, obviously.

I wish I knew how to stitch the photos together to pin, because every layer deserves representation! Beautifully brought together.

PS: I think I rather like your boss!

You're right; your style is taking a strong shift into mod and (in a good way) masculine! I love this outfit. Bold stripes, monochromatic and python booties to die for.

TS, as a fellow shortie, I have to say you are giving me so much encouragement for wearing volume on volume and slouch. You totally pull off this look and I think you look fabulous! Well done!

I always read ylf on my phone when I am waiting for my bus in the morning. I was just thinking "Where's Shannon's WIW?" as you usually post right when I am waiting, and then suddenly you posted :)

I wanted to add that I am impressed you even matched your underlayer to your coat and scarf/gloves :)

I love those trousers! They look great on you and I like the pop of color that citron stripe brings to the outfit. I guess I should try shopping at Sears since I really need trousers - I've been purging but haven't bought any replacements.

Oh I really love this one Shannon. And then if it wasn't enough, the pic with the citron jacket - too fab!! I love that pop of colour on a cold Winterpeg day!

Shevia - and you know what? It's as comfortable as a fashionable track suit! Love that description.

Manidipa - I'm very lucky to have both a kind AND style-loving boss!

Mochi - yep, my style is moving around and I'm just letting it go where it wants to go!

Suz - me and slouchy - who knew?

MTB - give the volume look a try fellow shortie! You might be surprised how much you like it. I know I am.

Ceit - I'm incredibly flattered that you look for my WIW first thing in the morning! And you are almost always the first to respond :)

Sara - I've been quite impressed with Sears this winter. Some very nice selections and a really good price points.

Glory - AAAAHHHHH - I thought it was only residents of Winnipeg who called it "Winterpeg" - love it!

    Thanks Kelly and Tina!

I love grey & I love it on you. The grey & citron is something I will be copying for winter:)

  • Krista replied 11 years ago

This is super fantastic. I love the combination of the grey with the pops of color - so rich for winter!

Ooh, me likey! I love volume like this, where the garments drape to suggest a smaller figure rather than a larger one. I also like how it looks comfy and cozy as pajamas - BUT maintains a polished feel because of the structured bag, tuxedo stripe, and croc/lizard textures.
