WIW: Taupe Leather with Patterned Skirt (ETA change)

Hmmm....I'm not entirely sure this works but it's too late to change anything now. Please let me know if you see something "off" and what needs to be tweaked.

We're having an unusually warm week here so am wearing my skirts while my legs don't mind. I started today's outfit with my crepe patterned skirt - I love all the different colours in this skirt, everything from taupe to dark purple to cranberry to red to moss green to cream. I've added my dark purple tank and then topped all that with my taupe draped leather jacket. For footwear, I've popped on my taupe/olive mid calf lace-up boots. I decided to have a little fun with pattern mixing so am using my taupe/cream snakeskin clutch.

What do you think? does this work? proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

ETA: So I just wasn't feeling the jacket with this outfit - something was off with the length and colour of it with the skirt, so ended up at the last minute tossing it off and popping on my purple Amber Sun jacket instead - much happier with it. Left the taupe/olive boots on though. I'm honestly not sure I'm feeling love for this taupe drapey jacket anymore - I've had it for a few years and it is high on the "fuss factor" with me fixing the drape all the time and shifts about constantly. I'm finding that I'm less and less willing to deal with fussy clothes.

    I really don't see anything wrong here, Shannon. I think the drape-y leather jacket (so stunning!!) looks wonderful with your pencil skirt (such fab colours and pattern), and the boots look so sassy. Also: this shade of taupe looks beautiful on you.

    I think it is the skirt version of Mo's outfit :)

    I like it, but there's some colour disconnect with the topper and the skirt I think. I bet in person the taupe in the skirt and topper comes through, but it gets lost in the green and red and purple. Great skirt!

    Teehee, I am wearing a tannish leather jacket today too.
    I really like this outfit but I think I've mentioned this to you before. I really really like to see you in saturated primary colors and graphic prints. While this looks really good, I think you look even better.

    Rita - you have hit on something very key! I felt fantastic in my outfit yesterday - bright tomato red with graphic black/white. I also feel really good in other primary colours and also in outfits that are just black and white. I think this is why I ended up switching the jacket to my purple one - the taupe just wasn't speaking to me.

    Gosh.. Well, you know me...I actually LOVE this, but then it features taupe!! Seriously, the jacket and those funky booties just make this sing to me. But I'm sure I'd love it with the Amber Sun jacket as well. (Will you show a pic of that, too?) I agree with you about the skirt - it is fab! You are always finding the BEST pieces at Cleo!! I remember this purchase and it is awesome.

    Interesting - maybe I'm the lone vote (with Ceit) not liking the taupe jacket with this...makes me wonder if I should have left it on as now I'm not feeling the purple jacket with the skirt either - lol!!!

    I really like that jacket every time you wear it, this time included, but fuss factor is a certainly a reason to leave it off. I also love the color and pattern of the skirt and am sure you looked equally super with the purple jacket.

    Shannon, I think you look great and the shape of that jacket is just fantastic. I think the taupe suits you and works well with the outfit. But I wonder if you are like me, the minute I put this type of colour (or any shade of brown really, especially the lighter shades) I feel so drab. For me, I think it must be a bit psychological, and a bit based on my colouring.

    I do adore that skirt, and I agree that this week is skirt weather. I think we send our weather over to you from Saskatoon. Yesterday was gorgeous here!

    I can actually sympathize with your jacket switch. I think the warmer olive featured through skirt, boot and clutch were looking for a bit more punch than the cooler taupe provides. (Though I'd feel GREAT and very proudly stylish wearing this as-is myself!)

    And can I just add that I adore the clutch with that skirt? --- beautiful pattern mixing there.

    Crazy how some days nothing feels right. You have nothing to fear, you look gorgeous in the taupe, and I'm sure in the purple as well. The color pairings here are really inspirational. Those boots really look great on your legs!

    I think the taupe is too "cool" in tone for this outfit - it works, but I think you need a warmer/deeper color. I would like to see the taupe with neutrals - cream and black would be nice!

    I love it just as is but I hear you on the fuss factor. I can't take anything fussy.

    I think Una is right. The other colors of this outfit seem to dull the taupe jacket. On the other hand, the disconnect can add interest. I like taupe on you and you may like it even more as your hair gets more grey. Each of the pieces is fabulous and the tones of the last photo are gorgeous together.

    Maybe it's the warm & cool browns together that you may not like. I think the taupe would look great with some of your brighter coloured skirts/dresses.

    I actually like it as is. The jacket seems to have a sheen and that usually photographs poorly.
