WIW: Red, Olive & White

Looking for style inspiration to help me in wearing the heck out of my clothes, I turned to Angie's ensemble posts. I figure even if the ensemble is a year or more old, the colour combinations and ideas can still be executed but with modern pieces. Plus I'm noticing that style trends (at least some of them) are sticking around for two or three years before starting to fade.

Today's outfit is based on Angie's Combat Pants, White Top and Red Accents ensemble. I started with my dark olive cargo pants and paired those with my white v-neck drapey sleeveless tee. I topped that with my dark red asymmetrical merino wool cardigan (sleeves scrunched) and then added my red booties for another pop of red. Even though the red of the cardigan and booties don't match, they're far enough apart on the body that it doesn't bother me in the least. Besides, I like the slightly different tones in the same outfit.

I chose my taupe/cream/gold snakeskin clutch (gift from Sona - who I miss like crazy!), red specs, gold watch and chunky gold ring and red lipstick to finish off the outfit.

Thoughts on this outfit? All comments/suggestions welcome.

I had a blast combing through Angie's ensemble posts last night and am continuing to find new ways to wear old things. Thank you Angie :)

Cardigan: Eileen Fisher (eBay)
Tee: BCBG
Pants: Ricki's
Booties: Sam Edelman
Clutch: Big Buddha
Watch & ring: thrifted

Great combo - casual , and nice!  Particularly like those boots - don't think I've ever seen them on you before !

I was just thinking this week that wearing red/white/black seems classic, but maybe a bit predictable.  Olive, particularly dark olive, is a great alternative.  I like the simple swap of cream for white, also --- it seem a bit richer and more neutral, and a little lower contrast.

The texture and color saturation in the cardi is terrific!

This dark "tulip" red is delicious on you Shannon. What a great interpretation of Angie's ensemble.
<having a major case of envy for your oversized clutch...>

Such a great combination and I am just loving the reds on you.  Shannon I actually think 'modern' is part of you and you bring that to all your outfits.  And I do think that when you don't wear all 'trend' clothing you sit more in your own personal style and you get greater longevity out of your clothing.

I love this outfit! And it really makes me want some olive pants. I love dark olive, olive drab, military ... it's a terrific neutral to bounce color off. Looks fantastic here.
