WIW: Plan B for the snow

Yes…SNOW…we got three new inches last night and now it's sort of half raining-half snowing outside. I had planned on wearing my new pastel blue suit for the first time today but there's no way I'm going to wear pale blue trousers in the slush when they're dry clean only. So I had to come up with a Plan B and thought of Angie's olive and pink ensemble.

I pulled out my olive cargo pants (which have already proven themselves to be a wardrobe workhorse). I don't have a pink top to wear with the trousers (I have now identified this is a wardrobe hole) so went with my olive/grey/white camo-esque mixed media pull over. I had originally semi tucked it but decided I like this top untucked so you can see the entire front. I then added my taupe kitten heels (although it will be boots outside until I get into the office). And on top of it all, have added my blush pink leather moto. I really quite liked the soft pink over the camo top and cargo pants. But I got stuck on the handbag - I don't have a taupe or camel bag to tie in with the shoes so ended up going with my large cream handbag to pull out the white in the top. I don't think it works though but no time to change it now.

So what do you think? does this work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome. Frankly, I just wanted to go back to bed after I looked out the window…

Pullover: Dex
Trousers: Ricki's
Shoes: Cole Haan
Moto & handbag: Danier Leather

OMGosh, that top ties the jacket and pants together PERFECTLY!  Great outfit.  I think the cream bag looks fine, it might be a bit light for the outfit, but honestly, not far off enough to worry, or to justify shopping :)

We had about a cm of snow yesterday afternoon/evening. Ugh. When will it be over?

A great look for a decidedly unspringlike day. Our snow has finally melted away so I feel your pain :-(. I think the cream bag is an excellent choice btw. I wouldn't change it for anything darker.

We had snow just last week that stayed around for more than a day.  Sheesh.  Guess you're not out in your garden yet!

Love the way the jacket adds a soft, warm touch to the whole outfit.

Love the moto with the shirt! Sorry about the snow --- the warm weather we had on Easter made me itch to get out in the garden, but it's still freezing at night.

Oh, Shannon - I feel your pain!! It's supposed to snow in Calgary (where I am now) this weekend....

You look amazing, though. The blush is SOOOOOO spring-like and that jacket looks like sensational quality. And I guess one benefit of cool temperatures is that we can wear our leather jackets for longer!

Love the jacket  with the top! I think the back looks great too. Sorry about the snow :(

Wooohooo. I love olive matched with pink. Fabulous outfit - see how versatile blush is? And just the thing to keep your spirits up through that ghastly snow.

Smashing outfit...and I think the cream bag looks great!

I love that jacket so much...I think I need to get myself some blush!  :)

Ok, I can stop complaining about 20 degree swings in my temps now!!!!!
Cargos really are a fun pant and this combo works beautifully!

Wow - gotta admit I'm kinda surprised by the positive comments on this outfit 'cause I'm not sure I'm loving it myself. Mind you, I think the poopy weather is making me feel a bit negative. And I really don't like how the blush jacket looks against my wall color - it does look much nicer IRL.

I think it is just the weather.  You do look terrific.

I really like it with the blush moto. It looks fresh and springlike, but still warm.

Oh, grrr-for the snow:-(....But wow, for the outfit!:-) This is amazing! The white bag is brilliant to this, you couldn't do better if you wanted, for keeping up your moods on such a day!

Saved by the blush! It's perfect to make the olive springlike.

if it was me, and it was still snowing on april 25th, nothing would feel good! i would have worn all black so that my outfit matched my mood. you look like spring, even if mother nature isn't cooperating.

Gosh I'd want to crawl back in bed, too. You look fab! The blush is springy enough on its own :D I think the white bag works nicely, but a pastel shade would also be fun; it'd add another pastel shade which would give you three different light colors in the outfit.

Shannon- great gear shift when you saw the snow. The pink moto is awesome with the cargo pants and camo top. Unexpected and inspired pairing.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

    Yay for pink and olive.

I just wanted to also say it's RAINING TODAY. From 80F to cold and wet! It's so weird.

    Love it

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Sorry about the snow but love the pink and olive combination - maybe the snow is already gone?

Now this outfit is great I'm a dark clothes girl but this still says spring. Two thumbs up.

I dig this heavily. Even without the jacket it is yummy and I love the olive. Then add the jacket and I swoon. Got no problem with the bag either, however you may have something even better in mind that I can't imagine. I am sending you springtime vibes - blow ye gentle warm winds of May!

Ack ... I hope good weather heads your way soon. You look lovely in that blush and olive! Nice interpretation of Angie's formula!
