WIW: Floral & Aviator

I loved Angie's post yesterday on how to wear floral patterns in a more subtle way. Although truth be told, I have NO problem wearing a floral pattern in an "in your face" way - lol!

I started today's outfit with my floral CM moto, which I think represents points #4 and #5 of Angie's post - it is a bit of an abstract floral and it is definitely more on the monochromatic side.

I popped the moto (scrunched sleeves for some structure) on top of a simple black tank, fully tucked into my Earhart Aviator trousers and added a black leather belt. These trousers are not traditionally flattering and therefore I suspect this outfit is just flattering enough (JFE).

To elongate the leg line a bit, I chose my new black sandal shoes with the pointy toes. A simple white clutch adds a pop of lightness and brings out the lighter tones of the jacket, as well as adding a bit more structure. For jewelry I went with a silver ring and my taupe/silver wrap watch - the leather strap matches the taupe tone in the moto perfectly. My purple/clear specs and a pop of bright pink lipstick finish off the outfit.

So…what do you think? Does this all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Moto jacket: Club Monaco
Tank: Smart Set
Pants: J Brand Earhart Aviator (eBay)
Shoes: Fugitive
Watch: Fossil (eBay)
Clutch: Danier Leather

I'm really enjoying all the fab ways you are using your floral bomber. Really like your new footwear, Shannon. Love the pointy toe and scrappiness. The heel looks to be a comfortable height.

Wow, this is my favorite outfit so far and they are all great! I love that flower jacket! I had not heard of that shoe brand but now I will keep an eye open for it. Your shoes look pretty and comfortable, if I find a pair like that one I will buy it.

That is a floral jacket I can happily covet! Great outfit as usual Shannon!

Beautiful Moto! Its so nice to finally see fabbers wearing sandals and florals!! I love your aviators Shannon and will keep my eyes open for luxe tracks like these. You nail JFE every time :)

Perfection! Love the black and pattern combo, the proportions and everything else about it. This is definitely one of my favorites on you!

Waving to jacket twin! Looks nice, Shannon!

Carla & Joyce - this is now my favorite brand of shoe. I have two pairs. They are Fugitive by Francesco Rossi. Unbelievably comfortable right out of the box - no such thing as having to break them in. Definitely worth trying if you ever see them.

Neel - aren't the Aviators fab? They are so very different for me and yet they were love at first sight. I scored mine on eBay if you were looking for a pair.

Ceit - waving right back at ya!

Thanks for your lovely comments Debra, Shevia and leopardluxe :)

Your floral is both abstract and monochromatic!
I love the way the silhouette here adds a modern touch and seems to be uber comfy, too.  It would be a good traveling outfit.

    Have a marvelous day!

I love the Duran Duran '80s appeal of this outfit. Killer look - and one that made me smile big time. xo

My favorite kind of floral! So good to see you in this amazing style groove, Shannon - you seem like you are in a really happy place with your closet.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

And perhaps you can provide a link to your black EF frock?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Beth Ann - this is extremely comfy!

Una - I'm getting to my happy place with my wardrobe. It hasn't been easy (as you know!). I'm finally learning what works for me, how much I'm willing to push myself stylistically, what I'm willing to compromise on and what I'm not. It's a process.

Angie - oooohhh...LOVE Duran Duran! Thank you :)  And your wish is my command - here is the link to my EF drape front dress. As you can see, it doesn't look like much just as is, but I love it.

    Hmmm...the L&T link isn't working. Let's try this one http://www.belk.com/AST/Main/B.....4S4VFD2026

I bought mine off eBay though - there are a few there if anyone is interested.

Shannon, do those shoes come in white, do you know? Where did you get them?

    The outfits is great!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Suz - unfortunately this particular style only comes in black. So far the only local store I've found that carries the Fugitive brand is Canadian Footwear (which now also has an online store).

Here are the links to two of the Fugutive shoes that come in white - including the bone/silver ones I bought last year.

This outfit is wonderful Shannon.  And I love the colour of your lipstick on you - really adds to your overall look.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Ooh - this is even better than I expected than I clicked the link!  What a fabulous look!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Shannon, thank you! Those white pointy toed t-straps are so cute! Tempting indeed! I really like your black ones though - even more so for more regular daily wear. It's just the type of low wedge I'm hunting for. It's easy to find flats or heels but not that nice small wedge.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

    Thanks Sweetheart Shannon. xo

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Ah this is so lovely Shannon! The white clutch and pink lipstick really do add the perfect finishing touches.

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

I like each of the components of this outfit and like them even more all together. That jacket is a floral that even I can love!

    Those shoes look super comfy.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Really beautiful and edgy outfit! I am in the market for florals and wish I could find some I like as much as this, in a weight and fabrication for me. Going to keep your look in mind to copy one of these days!

  • gryffin replied 10 years ago

Shannon - such an awesome outfit on you!!  You looked so great in that CM moto that I had to try it on.  It did nothing for me, so jealous, but it was soooooooooooo pretty!!  So I really enjoy seeing it on you and how wonderful it looks!!  Enjoy it!!

  • Kiwichik replied 10 years ago

After looking at your post floral is starting to grow on me (rolls around laughing at her own joke).

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

This is beautiful Shannon. Love the proportions :)

  • Joyce B replied 10 years ago

Thanks, Shannon. I will keep an eye open for those shoes. They don't have them at Nordstrom. I need to further explore the links that you shared.
