WIW: Pastel Suit Debut

I feel like there's a hint of Duran Duran and Miami Vice in this suit and you know what? I LOVE IT!!!

Today is the first wearing of my pastel blue suit. I paired the trousers with my cream lace front drapey tee and topped that with the matching suit jacket, with scrunched sleeves. For footwear, I went with my taupe pointy toe kitten heels and chose my quilted cobalt/cream/black handbag. Jewelry is my gold wedding band and a vintage gold bracelet. i went with my purple/clear specs and soft pink lip colour to finish off the outfit.

Once again, I think my wall colour is slightly skewing the colour of my suit - it is a true pastel/baby blue.

So what do you think? Wildcard good? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Suit: Anne Klein (eBay)
Lace tee: Smart Set
Shoes: Cole Haan
Handbag: Danier Leather
Bracelet: vintage

It's very pretty and it fits you great. I am glad you could finally wear it, let us hope for no more snow this Spring.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Love! You could also try your bone shoes - I love it with the light top.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Fabulous Suit! I would also be interested to see a slightly edgy top with this (just as an alternative). I think it would offset the beautiful simplicity of the suit. This was a great buy Shannon:)

YLF! Super fresh and on trend!

  • dianne replied 10 years ago

Very fresh and pretty!!  I think it is the perfect suit for this time of year.

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

Fabulous! I love this on you...no Miami Vice here at all....just fresh and springy.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

Pretty color on you! I can see you finding all kinds of ways to mix and match these pieces with your wardrobe too.

I was just realizing that I haven't worn/owned a suit in well over a decade. It's interesting to ponder what I would actually find if I went looking for one.

    You look absolutely gorgeous.

  • deb replied 10 years ago

Oh my, this is perfect for you. You look so happy in this outfit and the bag adds the perfect pop of color.

I have been waiting for this day! You look beautiful, Shannon. I love the soft blue as a change and I do think the pieces will be versatile as well now that you have broken them out! Lovely.

Deb raises a good point about tops -- I'll bet you can pair this in various ways for different moods.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Yay, the snow must be gone! The baby blue suit is a sign of spring. It looks wonderful on you.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Have you tried this suit with your black and white graphic tee or your L&T animal print top? I can't remember if you have Polkadots. You do blue with black and white so well. Why not a version with baby blue?

Shevia - I have tried the trousers with bone my bone laser cut oxfords and my silver/bone sandal shoes and they work great with both. Don't you love when you have shoe options?

Deborah - love the idea of an edgy top with the simple, structured suit. Now I just have to find one! Would love any suggestions you have in terms of color and style.

Janet - with my black skirt suit and now this pastel suit, I'm kind of rediscovering the versatility of a suit. Wear the pieces together for "full on" and then break them up to increase their versatility - love that. I could see you in a more avant garde style suit or something more fluid like Theory with the longer jacket.

Deb - I am indeed happy wearing this :)

Suz - thank you. I am really glad I was able to get the jacket in a smaller size - much better on me, don't you think?

Joy - yep, the snow if FINALLY gone! We can always get more but it won't last now. And I saw a robin yesterday. Spring has sprung! This is the first time I've worn the suit so haven't tried any other incarnations as of yet. Love the idea of my black/white graphic tee and the animal print top with it. And now that you mention polka dots, I wonder how the cream/navy polka dot top my son gave me for Mother's Day a few seasons ago will look with this?

Thanks for chiming in all and for the fab suggestions :)

    Killer

I have pasel suit envy. xo

Impeccable fit is required in a light, matched suit like this, and you have that part mastered!  The suit is both professional and feminine, which is so great for an office.  I look forward to seeing it pop up in all sorts of ways!  I agree that graphic black an white would be interesting, as would more cobalt or yellow.

    You look gorgeous today!

This suit looks fantastic, the fit and the color are excellent on you!

So pretty.  YLF!  Will the jacket also work with white pants?

  • merwoman replied 9 years ago

Ohhhh so beautiful Shannon! The fit is divine!

  • rae replied 9 years ago

    Fantabulous!

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

YLF, and your smile is about a mile long, so we can all feel the high happiness factor of this outfit!

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

I think I owned the Jones NY version of this in the early 90s! Love it on you. You had me at Duran Duran!

  • Kiwichik replied 9 years ago

    Standing ovation.

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

Love the suit. Beautiful color and the specs are perfection with the outfit. Bravo!

  • Inge replied 9 years ago

Absolutely fantastic, Shannon!! And the pastel blue looks so fresh with the cream top.
Big thumbs up for this wildcard :-)

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

I am sooooooooo jealous. I want blue. There is no blue here in the stores anywhere.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

WOW! I'm a little overwhelmed with your pastel suit lovin'! Thank you all so much.

I have discovered this is definitely NOT the suit to wear if you don't want to be noticed. I have had more looks and comments on this suit than I can remember receiving for any other outfit since I starting my new job. And you know what? All of the comments have been more than positive! I guess we all have a little Duran Duran/Miami Vice in us :)

I'm looking forward to seeing how these pieces can be worn with other tops and footwear, and how they will work individually with the rest of my wardrobe. Won't it be fun to play around with???

  • LACeleste replied 9 years ago

    You look fantastic Shannon!

  • fuzzylogic replied 9 years ago

Oh, I see what you mean! What a fantastic find!!! Already I can see this with a touch of floral, a block colour and, if you are feeling bold, something beaded or with sequins! Woo-hoooo!

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

Fantastic find!!! I love the colour on you - YLF. I really need to find my suit :)

  • annagybe replied 9 years ago

    Nice!

  • MsMary replied 9 years ago

Oh, I have pastel suit envy, too!

You know, I was thinking over the weekend that you are just genius at taking the most up-to-the-minute looks and making them totally wearable and totally your own!  My hat is off to you!

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

Perfectly styled Shannon.  I like your top with this, and the bag is beautiful.  I'm beginning to think that Danier is the best leather maker in the world.  Everything is well-designed and looks high-quality without having Valentino/Prada/Gucci/Luis Vuitton prices.

  • Runcarla replied 9 years ago

    Love this!

  • Jjsloane replied 9 years ago

Super suit! I love the light blue and want to copy you (as usual) I vote nude lip with this (my only criticism)!

  • columbine(erin) replied 9 years ago

It's a beautiful suit on you and I have no doubt you will find many great ways to wear it!

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Awesome! Cont me as another case of pastel suit envy!
I would really like to see a shade of white footwear with this suit: somehow taupe does not excite me as much as white would with this pastel blue color... <ducking>

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Spring has sprung! The pastel blue suit is out, yay! The birds were chirping outside my window this morning too.
That suit is all kinds of drop dead gorgeous on you!

  • Jewell replied 9 years ago

This suit makes me happy- you look fab!

  • JenA replied 9 years ago

Another HUGE fan of the suit. You look beautiful in this color.

I don't need suit, but I just had to get an oversized pale blue blazer .... now you've inspired me to wear it.

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

This shows it's all about the fit. And the proportions are just right.
