WIW: Orange Animal

It is uncharacteristically warm here this week - in the low 20's (Celcius) so am taking advantage of the last bit of bare legged dressing before the snow flies. It does make it a wee bit challenging to still look "autumn appropriate" while keeping comfortable.

I started today's outfit with my animal print pencil skirt. This has already turned into a bit of a workhorse and I've only had it a few weeks. I've paired the skirt with a light weight orange knit slouchy pull over. I realize the light weight of the knit means the animal print pattern shows a bit through the sweater but honestly, that doesn't bother me one bit.

I chose my laser cut bone oxfords for footwear and bookended the shoes with my large cream handbag. A gold watch and wedding band rounds out the outfit.

So what do you think? Does this meet "bare legged autumn appropriate" dressing? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

BTW Suz if you see this - I too am going to be passing on my portobello mushroom skirt. Just doesn't make me happy anymore.

Skirt: Sears
Sweater: Cleo Petite
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Handbag: Danier Leather
Watch: thrifted

    Yes, Shannon! This look fantastic.

Lovely.  Everything from the fit, color, and accessories looks lovely and the proportions seem bang on.  Very nice.

The weather has been quite nice - I can't park  in the garage for one more week so if it holds I won't have to scrape frost.

One of my alltime favorite outfits! I love all the pieces and how it works effortlessly for you. It truly meets barelegged appropriateness and then some!

Wow - this looks amazing Shannon!  Way to go!  I'll admit, I was skeptical. When I saw "Orange Animal" - I thought "If anyone can figure that out without looking horrid, it's Shannon. And look - you did so perfectly!  I think it takes the right animal print to do that.

Shannon, you have put Gowan's "Strange Animal" in my head! Ack!

Shannon, this looks fantastic. I love that orange on you and paired with this skirt it looks like they were bought with each other in mind.

Fabulous! You know, I was so tempted by the skirt the other day. On sale for $25!! (Not now -- sale is over I think). Anyway, I couldn't see it in person and wasn't sure about sizing, so I didn't order it in the end. Maybe I'll be kicking myself later.

Oh, portobello skirt, rest in peace. You were a good friend at the time....I felt like the fit was never right on mine so I bid it goodbye without angst. Still hoping to find some taupe bottoms somewhere this year, though.

Love the skirt, and esp with the orange sweater.  Defintiely works for 20 degree fall days to me!  I'm happy to see another person who pushes bare legs as far as possible at the end of the season... winter is long enough.

Fantasic, that shade of orange is wonderful and love the bare legs and white accessories!

Love the orange on you and the choice of bone shoes!

Shannon, you look more youthful and streamlined with each outfit post. I'm carefully complimenting you on your weight loss because I don't want you to think that you didn't look amazing when there was more of you to love. You really do look incredible, and I am proud of your tenacity and spirit. xo

You look great!  I love the orange with the animal print.  I also love those oxfords.  I've never been a big fan of oxfords but my eye must be getting more used to them because I've actually started looking around for a pair for myself.

Thank you all so much :)

Dianthus - we actually had a fire outside last night and sat out with our glass of red wine until after 10 p.m. - was absolutely gorgeous.

Ceit - sorry 'bout that - lol!

Suz - the portobello skirt never fit me exactly right either but I just went with it. But my black and cobalt version of the skirt are much better. Different fabric and I think that may have made the difference.

Elizabeth - I'll be in booties and boots once the cold arrives until April so I love to go bare legged as long as possible.

Angie - you are so diplomatic and sweet :)

Sara - two years ago there is no way I would have worn oxfords, let alone with a skirt. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks - lol!

So cute! I love the way you and several other fabbers mix colors with animal print. I've only ever had the nerve to put animal with black. You look so great I may consider going bolder.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Well, this could not be more wonderful.  Well done - look how you wear orange so beautifully!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Love this!  This animal print seems youthful and fun, but still right for office wear.  Love it!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Meow! Two of my favorite things...animal print and orange.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

    I love this outfit, Shannon.
Orange and leopard are made for each other!
I'm laughing as I write this, because I'm wearing my orange sweatshirt with leopard sleeves today- I'll have to post a copycat WIW!

The bare legs and oxfords look great, btw.
