WIW: Inspired by Amiable & Ceit

I loved the outfits Amy and Ceit wore this week featuring cobalt, black and white - such a gorgeous colour combination on such lovely ladies!

I am shamelessly copying that idea and started today's outfit with my cobalt knit pencil skirt and tank. I can't believe how well these match considering they are two different brands, bought at two different stores at two different times.

I topped the skirt and tank with my black and white striped knit blazer. I have lost my love for knit blazers as they do not have enough structure for me but I still held on to this one because it does have a bit more shape than other ones I had.

To further play up the colour scheme, I chose my black and white Doc high heeled saddle shoes and my cobalt/cream/black quilted handbag. Jewelry is my black and white oversized watch and silver wedding band.

This is pretty darned matchy-matchy for me - what do you think of all of this together? does it work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Winner's
Tank: Jones New York (thrifted)
Skirt: Cleo Petite
Shoes: Doc Martens
Handbag: Danier Leather
Watch: Calvin Klein (thrifted)

Such fun, Shannon! I like the stripes with the two-piece dress! And so happy your Saras are coming out to play.

Much applause. You glow in these colours Shannon.

I love this outfit on you! Those colors are fantastic with your hair and glasses - I just feel like it's all working, head to toe. You look like you're ready for a very happy day. And you're making me start to like cobalt, which is not a color I am naturally drawn to. Hard not to love in these pics.

Another cobalt beauty!  Love the striped blazer and the shoes!  You can never go wrong with cobalt, black and white :)

Would it be a cobalt overdose if I did another WIW (...after yesterday's cobalt dress?) with my cobalt skirt and another one with my cobalt top and yet another one with my cobalt jersey dress?  LOL!  I love this color!  I want a bag in this color and may be a pair of shoes!  :D

Yay!  So fun!  I love seeing this color combo in so many variations!  You totally rock this look.

Amazing! Cannot believe the skirt and top were from different shopping days. Interesting how youve found most knit blazers not enough structure. I really like this one! You look great and perfectly accesorized. Love the colorblock satchel :)

Adorable and crisp! This is a wonderful styling for your striped jacket.

This is the kind of matchy matchy I can most appreciate. The shoes are perfect with this and the bag is the perfect finishing touch.

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

    Well, I love matchy-matchy so I think it's a great outfit!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

This is absolutely lovely, Shannon. I am glad you kept that jacket. I think the pattern also helps to make it feel more "crisp" and then it's so useful to have a patterned jacket or two in one's wardrobe! I love the matchy-matchyness of this because it contributes to its modern, minimal feel. With a dash of retro in the shoes!

I love the way your shapely legs look in these Doc Saras. You carry them off just beautifully, Shannon.

This is a super fun outfit. If I saw you walking down the street, I'd want to come up to you - tell you how fab you looked - and have a cuppa and slice of cake together.

    I vote 11 out of 10.

The striped jacket with the Sarah's gives off a "menswear prep" sort of vibe -- loving it.  And of course, I'm all over cobalt and the blue party we've been having on the forum!

Glad to to see the shoes again!

Grrrrrr...how annoying of my job to get in the way of my YLF time - lol! I'm just now getting back to my thread to say thank you for your lovely comments.

Neel - no such thing as "cobalt overdose"!

Amiable - this is one of the things I absolutely love about YLF. We see a fabulous combination and then interpret it our own way with our own pieces.

Angie - one day I hope to have a real cuppa and slice of cake with you :)

We obviously have a lot of cobalt and matchy-matchy love here!

Cobalt is an amazing color on you! I love this outfit, it's one of my favs. I am so glad you kept that blazer (I love stripes). So pretty and fun!

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

I love this, Shannon!  I am going to have to try a cobalt-on-cobalt look of my own!

And I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who still loves my Saras!
