WIW: A Simple Outfit

Got some work stresses going on right now and felt the need for a simple outfit today - sort of the dressier work version of jeans and a t-shirt if you will.

Started the outfit with these black trousers by Jay Manuel. They are very menswear-ish and normally I don't like these type of side pockets but because the fabric isn't stiff or heavy, they lay fairly flat. They're a little bit big so may need to buy them in a size down soon. But my black belt holds them up and they will be comfy.

To the trousers I added my silver Eileen Fisher short sleeved top. I'll be honest in that I wasn't sure about this top at first and found it a wee bit snug in the mid section - and this fabric shows every lump and bump, believe me. But between me shrinking a bit and the top stretching out a bit, we have met in a happy place :) I loooooooove how it's like wearing liquid. It feels so good on and now has perfect slouch.

I've added my trust black Clarks sandals for footwear (going to be in the low 20's Celcius today) and my light cream handbag. For jewelry I'm wearing my silver wedding band and a pounded silver bracelet that was a gift from hubby a few years ago.

Hope this works together - what do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Top: Eileen Fishser
Trousers: Attitude by Jay Manuel
Belt & Handbag: Danier Leather
Bracelet: gift

Nice, Shannon! I find the sandals a bit incongruous with the long dark trousers, but I get you on dressing for the weather. That silver top is gorgeous.

Shannon this a great transeasonal outfit. The silver top is just beautiful on you. For me the sandals work because we can see skin, which stops the outfit from being "bottom heavy". Simple but very stylish:)

Shannon I absolutely love that top on you! The sandals read as peep toes from here and the semi-tuck with belt is perfect. That said, lower 20s celcius (70s fahrenheit) is considered boot weather here!

nothing simple about the outfit in the way it looks: avant garde and chic. The fact that it was simple/easy for you to put together and that the elements involved are minimalistic just points to how well you are getting to know your wardrobe, item pairing and your body. Kudos.

Love this outfits, so casual chic.  That top and false tuck are perfection

The EF top fits absolutely perfectly. You're looking so good, Shannon. Casual Chic is just how I would have described the outfit too. Hang in there with the work stress.

I love the shimmery top on you :3 Good luck with the suckers at work!

Love the EF top on you!  So pretty and shimmery!

Not as sure about the sandals, but then my eye was instantly drawn tot hem. I do so love the top on you, so my preference would be for my eye to fall there first.

    A fab FFBO!

I love the top! :) But I do think you need the pants in a smaller size. (It feels great when that happens, doesn't it?)

I had tried on that silver top but it didn't work well for me. Or maybe I just  didn't love it enough for the price! But it fits you perfectly; I love the drapiness.

Fabulous! That top looks absolutely divine on you. What a great outfit. I actually love it with the sandals.

Dressier jeans and tee version!  That's just that!  Perfect!

The elements may be simple, but they are each so nice that they add up to fabulous. That top looks really great on you. The fit is nice and the silver color plays nicely with your beautiful hair.

Beautiful! I'm glad this is a comfy outfit for you, too. That top is killer on you.

Sometimes simple is best. That top looks like liquid silver. I like the sandals - they look like peep toes like shevia said.  You could always add a bright bag, red or cobalt maybe, if you wanted a little more pop.

Love it Shannon! The metallic shirt is perfect on you!

Shiny!  Casual Diva, that's what you are today!  Show 'em what you got and then some!

Fit is perfect, and color is oh so very flattering!

I love that top! I agree with Deb about the skin showing on your feet adding lightness to your bottom half. It looks a perfect early autumn outfit.

Oh my goodness - I'm so sorry about coming back to this thread so darned late. What a CRAZY day!

So glad you all like my metallic top - I kept having the B52's song Shiny Happy People running through my head off and on today - lol!

Neha - I think you're right about the trousers. By the time the day was done, I felt like I had a major crazy of "saggy butt" 'cause they are just too big.

    Thanks all :)

    Hi Shannon --

What a gorgeous top on you with your hair/coloring.

You should make sure Runcarla sees this -- she's trying to put together a dressier/special events capsule and folks were recommending this type of top to her. Looking at this outfit it's easy to imagine the shirt with tuxedo pants etc.

Sorry about the end-of-day saggy butt feeling, but glad you feel more at ease in the top. Body shifts both giveth and taketh away. ;)
