WIW: New Lace Jacket

Are you noticing a theme for this week yet? Monday was a new dress/knit jacket, Tuesday was new trousers/tank and today...yep, another new item. I've had some great success in the past week picking up a few things to complete my spring wardrobe.

Today is the debut of an ink blue INC long sleeve lace moto jacket. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS JACKET!!!

The sleeves are too long but there are zippers at the wrist and I suspect this would be quite a pricey alteration to have the zipper removed and sleeves shortened because of the complexity of working with lace. I am going to get a quote from Wonder Woman anyway on the job but for now I've just cuffed the sleeves once and will probably wear them scrunched anyway.

INC usually doesn't fit me that well but this jacket is perfect. It's got just a bit of slouchy look to it undone but also zips up perfectly and fits in the shoulders. I love how the sleeves are sheer without lining so your skin shows through. I think this adds to the spring look.

I've popped the jacket over top of my simple black sheath (I wonder what the CPW is on this dress by now???), nude hose and my Doc Marcie boots. For my handbag, I'm using my citron/cobalt leather clutch. Jewelry is just my silver wedding band. The jacket is probably technically too long for this length of dress but that doesn't bother me. I'm enjoying the new silhouette of a longer jacket versus a cropped one.

I'm glad to have joined the lace jacket crowd and I'm loving the pairing of ink blue and black. Feeling good today :) So what's your opinion? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

I love that jacket! If it's the same jacket I'm thinking of, I almost bought it a while back. Now I wish I had! It looks fantastic with your black dress and booties.

This is a very seductive spring look Shannon, appropraite for work but will also take you straight to the wine bar.

Shannon, I love that jacket.  The lace sleeves will extend the season it works for as well.  What a lovely piece to add feminine touch but with the tough shape.

I am a bit envious that you are putting the last touches on your spring wardrobe and I haven't been motivated to even start putting one together.  I heard it was snowing again.  Wow.

Love it. Very rocker chic, a style you sport with gusto. Besides, the sleeves look better scrunched!

Great find in the jacket! I like the sheer sleeves too.

Ok with the words ink blue lace moto jacket I stopped reading and jumped straight to the pictures and now I am jumping all the way to Canada to steal that ink blue lace moto jacket from you, and the only thing protecting you is that you look so fab I might have last minute stealer's remorse!

cannot wait to see you pair this jacket with whites and other lighter colors. awesome this way too!

OMG Shannon, this os one of your best again! I'm coming with Shevia to steel it, so you better watch your back ;)

Shannon, love it! Did the jacket come from the Bay?
  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago
Wow, great jacket!  I really like how the sheer sleeves makes the lace pattern really stand out.

Shannon, I saw this jacket at Macy's last week and wanted to bring it home. I love the color, texture and moto styling. On me it felt too long for dresses and I have the lace bomber in 2 colors. Seeing it on you I wish now that I had picked it up to at least try. I can see this with bottoms in denim of any color, white, red, you name it. The navy and black sheath dress look sophisticated and modern with your Docs.

Julie - "seductive look" - love it!

Dianthus - yep, snow on May 1st. It stinks :(

Krishnidoux - I agree, I like the sleeves better scrunched too.

    annaj - c'mon over...I'll put the kettle on :)

Sona - I can hardly wait to pair this jacket with my white jeans.

Shevia & Ingunn - do I need to start sleeping with one eye open???

Suz - yep, from The Bay. I've looked at this jacket several times with lust and then this past weekend when it was on discount with Bay Days, I snapped it up. Interestingly enough I tried the jacket on in petite and it was actually too tight in the shoulders on me - which never happens. But the regular fit was great, other than the sleeve length. Gonna check it out???

Sara - that's what I really fell for with this jacket - the lace pattern on my arms.

Joy - technically, the jacket is a better length for pants but I'm willing to play with the proportions with a dress a bit. I think it could work very well on you...just saying...

KILLER retro spunk! Scrunching those too long sleeves works just fine. LOVE ink worn with black!

That's our Shannon - knocking it out of the ball park again :)

I love this Shannon! It has edge yet it's soft and pretty. I love how nicely you balance the two.
  • texstyle replied 10 years ago
Very nice and it is a bit rocker chic but not over the top. Looks fantastic on you!
  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago
You better do that, Shannon. After what I've seen lately, there are loads of pieces in your wardrobe worth stealing ;)
  • amiable replied 10 years ago
    Wow!  So cool!  Love it!
  • Jonesy replied 10 years ago
Looks fab! I agree with the assessment of the scrunched sleeves :). Springy but still weather-appropriate.
  • deb replied 10 years ago
What a great jacke! I see why you love it. I do not mind the sleeve length but I like my sleeves longer.
  • rae replied 10 years ago
Awesome jacket! I love how the sleeves are sheer. It makes the moto style more dressy. Very nice with the black workhorse dress!
  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago
    Oh, oh, oh....

    ....bonk.

OK, back up now (rubs head).  the Bay, did you say??  Holy crap, that might be worth the effort of braving the bridges.  Can you point me in the right direction... section/designer - I always get overwhelmed there, that I don't bother (and end up looking at Denby).
  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago
Angie - thank you so much for your lovely words :) I feel very much like ME in this outfit. Isn't it nice to wear our frocks again?

Thank you Day Vies, textstyle, Amiable, Jonesy, deb and Rae!  Sounds like leaving the sleeves as is will be ok as long as I scrunch them. Done.

Elizabeth - here's the Bay link to the jacket http://www.thebay.com/eng/wome.....bay/311608. I ended up only paying $51 for it as they included it in The Bay Days discount.
  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago
Thanks Shannon!  And of course, no mediums left... :(  But still worth a trip I think...

I saw this jacket in the store and said, "But I don't have anywhere to wear a "lace" moto."  Sigh.  You are a Queen of mixing dressy with work appropriate.  This look retro-edgy-classic-fab.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago
Elizabeth - let me know if you want me to look in my local store too.
  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago
LOVE this - the jacket is fab & so are you:)
  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago
Oh, thanks!  I'll see if I can get away from the house over the weekend to check it out.
  • Vicki replied 10 years ago
Yikes, Shannon!  You do "new" like no other!  I love this outfit and would so love to copy you, but I've got a few "new" things coming and I need to slow down.  You had me at ink blue!

I'm always in love with your close-ups that you finish with, because these "finishing touches" are little works of art.  Your purse is just right with this.

On another topic, do you think our Doc Marcies (a bit past my comfort zone in height, but I'm keeping) would be comfortable walking around London?  I know this is probably a question with a subjective answer, but I'm curious about what you think.  I usually only go as high as two inches and these are three, but I do love the comfort of them.

Oh the jacket is so pretty on you!

We are color twins today :)
