WIW: Editors, new tank & leather

Good morning everyone!

Today is the debut of two new items - the Express Editor trousers (back from hemming) I bought off of eBay and a jersey abstract print tank.

I can see why so many of Angie's clients love these Editor trousers - the fabric is substantial, the fit and rise perfect and the drape lovely. Many shorter women would probably find the legs too wide but I don't mind that at all. I like the way they move when I move and I find a wider leg trouser can help to balance out my wider hips.

I added an abstract print drapey tank that I found on the weekend at Laura Petites that has black, cream, yellow, and taupe in it. Love the colours and it will work with many of my bottoms. It also has substantially wide shoulder straps so won't have any issues wearing it without a topper when the summer heat arrives.

On top of that I added my light cream (not quite white) leather jacket and for footwear, my three-tone patent leather oxfords which have the same colours in them as in the tank. For my handbag, I'm using my yellow leather clutch.

I feel classic and modern in this outfit and am pleased with how it all works together.  I can tell all three of these pieces will be workhorses for me. What do you think of this outfit and its components? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Leather jacket: Danier Leather
Tank: Laura Petite
Trousers: Express Editors (eBay)
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
Clutch: Gap

Looking at these pics, I don't think the trousers are PPL with these shoes, even though these are the ones I was wearing when Wonder Woman pinned them. I think I'll ask her to let the hem down 1/2 inch (she always leaves a full inch seam allowance). Or is it just the way I'm standing?
  • Jaime replied 10 years ago
You are beautifully color coordinated and I love the cream jacket on you. I did not notice the PPL issue at first glance but after I read your comment I went back and looked and sort of saw what is bothering you. I think you need to take another look in real life. Certainly did not mar a great impression though!

Can't advise on PPL but I do know my own wide leg trousers drive me batty....I think they're okay, and they I see myself walking and think they are too short.

Love this outfit! It looks fantastic and completely fresh. You have a gift for picking up just the right pieces to complete new capsules. Shopping instincts and karma borne of long practice, I guess.

I think this outfit looks great on you.  I love the color combination of the yellow, black and white.  Very fresh and modern.  Maybe the pants are just sitting higher on your hips?  I find my hem lengths can change even just as the day goes on depending on where my pants are sitting on my waist.

So chic. Love the pop of yellow with your clutch (Gap!) and I am just loving your leather jacket. Wonderful.

The length of your pants looks just fine to me. It's hard to see without a back view but from the front, it looks fine.

What a super way to combine lighter colors with basic black trousers--that's something I'm really trying to do more of for trans-seasonal wear. You have a master touch for linking parts of the outfit together.
