  Yes I think the vest works. The proportions are excellent to my eye. Shannon I forgot you had these boots, I must scroll through your blog for some blue bootie inspiration:). The mauve is a great color choice here.

  Deborah - thank you! I love the idea of these booties with the black/white Maggy London dress (good memory!) but hadn't thought of that. Will give it a whirl next week. I love your blue booties and I bet you'll find you wear them more than you thought you would.

  Suz - I've tried a few different kinds of vests but for me, I find the more simple, the better.

  Nancy - I've seen very few vests in the retail stores here too. I thrifted this one about two years ago.

  The vest looks great with the shirt! I've also seen not that many vests in the stores. I'd like a new one, my black one is a bit tight.

  Love the colors here and your accessorizing! That clutch seems to be a workhorse already.

  I think the vest outfit looks great on you and this is an example of a non-trendy item (at least I don't think vests are majorly trendy right now) looking perfectly current and stylish.

  I really like the cut of the vest: very slenderizing. If you wanted a less androgynous look you could leave several buttons open of the shirt. But I love it as is!!

  I think the proportions are spot on, though I find the darkness of the vest a little bit too dark for the rest of the outfit (could also be from the flash, if it was used). My eyes want to see something charcoal, or possibly pinstriped/textured/printed to break up some of the black. I am clearly in the minority on that :)
