WIW: Gold and Brown

Before you read any further and check out the pics, please know that I fixed the belt after seeing these photos!

Today is a simple outfit with my espresso brown wide legged trousers, my gold/brown snakeskin print blouse, vintage men's tribal belt, brown booties and my two-tone Fossil handbag. I popped on my black quilted jacket for outdoors.

What do you think? Boring? Does it work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blouse: Vince Camuto
Trousers: Esprit
Belt: thrifted
Booties: Naturalizer
Handbag: Fossil

Definitely not boring! The blouse is a very nice color and really pops on you! Looks great paired with brown too.

I love it Shannon :-) the blouse is so pretty :-)

Not boring! I love the shape of those trousers on you. And I want that blouse...

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Nothing with that blouse could be boring! Love this on you.

Are you kidding me? I think the belt totally makes this--very subtle but somehow the color really makes the rest of the outfit shine. You have such good fashion sense, Shannon. You always look impeccable!

Kelly - not worry, I didn't remove the belt, I just did it up one more notch. I didn't realize it was so loose and sitting too low. This is actually my favourite of all my belts.

    Thanks ladies!

    KILLER

What are you smoking? This is one of your best outfits!!! (Pinning).

I love the way you marry classic and retro with a good dose of modern. It's an enviable style that you have mastered.

  • biscuitsmom replied 11 years ago

    Love it :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

*chuckle* at Angie's "what are you smoking"!

Angie - really? may I ask what makes it one of my best, so I can be sure to duplicate that formula?

    Thanks Shevia & BM!

Wow, LOVE IT! That is such a great color combo and I just love your little photo vignettes of your accessories!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

    FWIW:

It's extra sophisticated, elegant, simple and no-nonsense. So in my biased opinion - I love this look on you more *a lot*. It panders to my own style sensibilities.

love how you've styled this blouse twinnie! must pin and copy!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

How could this be boring?? You crazy! The color and pattern speak for themselves. Strong and simple!

  • harmonica replied 11 years ago

L.O.V.E!! what Angie said about classic, retro, modern. You are such an inspiration!!

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

I think the blouse is a fabulous point of interest -- where did boring come from??? I really like the brown accessories which add another layer of interest. Almost boring would have been plain black accessories. Love it.

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

No way! This is far from boring.
I love that blouse- great outfit!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

I would wear this in a heartbeat, Shannon - have been stalking the green Equipment shirt in snakeskin. Less is more! :)

  • replied 11 years ago

Shannon, I love the rich browns & golds & textures! You've inspired me to be your blouse twin! Question: I'm new to sheer blouses--what to wear underneath? A dark cami or ??? When you posted pics of your blouse before, I had wanted to purchase one, but Nordstrom no longer had it. So, today I'm happy to report I got it on clearance sale here!: (I got the gold, but they also have a few in camel.)

So happy you got your blouse Megan! I wear a black cami underneath this blouse.

Una - the green snakeskin would look fantastic on you - with your Theory black leather blazer over top!

    Thanks everyone!

Snazzy sharp, without a doubt! I didn't know Esprit had such nice trousers!

  • Astrid replied 11 years ago

It looks great! I love the (to my eye) unusual color combo.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Gorgeous! The sultry browns work especially well with this mustard top. Not boring at all! No need to overly accessorize (or think!) when wearing such a beautiful, statement making blouse :)

  • JulieJohn replied 11 years ago

Channeling my inner Angie tells me that she likes this outfit a bunch because it is pared down to its essence, but each piece screams "Shannon," and fits great.

Such an unassuming title "Gold and Brown." Did you even realize you successfully juxtaposed the following all in one uncomplicated outfit?
    *menswear and ladylike
    *retro and modern
*cold-blooded snakes with warm '70s browns
    *serious with whimsical

    You seriously rock!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Rachy - for me, Esprit makes THE best fitting trousers. I was so sad to see them leave the North American market :(

Astrid - it's an unusual colour combo for me too!

Aida - I never thought of this as a "statement making blouse" but you're right - it is a strong colour with a strong pattern.

Julie - I love reading your analysis. You always seem to teach me something about myself!

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

I'm late to the party, but I love this. It is warm and rich -- interesting proportion and texture. Wear it again!

  • Lyn D. replied 11 years ago

Fab Shannon! And I like the way you have given us a separate pic of the bag, belt and shoo ties.
