WIW: linen blend for the heat

It's a hot and humid day in The Peg so time to bust out linen. I scored this Ann Taylor linen/cotton blend sleeveless floral top at Value Village and it's perfect for a day like today. I love the cheery floral colors, the neckline and the wide straps. I've paired the top with my dark wash slim cut offs, pink Vans and my watermelon handbag. Can't get enough of this purse!

I'm heading out to the pet store to pick up food and them meeting my BFF at her place for lunch on her patio.

DS is recovering extremely well from his surgery and we're all adjusting to Gain no longer being with us, including Dusty Bottom.

    You look so cheerful and ready to take on anything, Shannon! :) I love that watermelon bag - I thought about buying a bag in the shape of a watermelon, but that's another story. Kate Spade has a lemon bag though :)

    I'm glad that your son is recovering nicely from his chipmunk surgery and Dusty Bottom is feeling a bit better. What a cute kitty!

    I love the silhouette you create with these just-above-the-knee shorts and flowy top. I'd like to nail down this formula for the summer, which is so hot and humid (maybe much like your summers in Winnipeg?). How do you do it? What are the key elements? Thanks!

    The colours in you top and your bag make me really happy! I love the watermelon shade. Your shirts are a great length and fit too. Glad DS is on the mend and Dusty Bottom looks adorable.

    Hi ladies - I've had such a lovely day....lunch with my BFF in the warm sunshine, working in the garden in the afternoon, BBQ dinner outside with DH and DS...perfect :)

    Lyn - that lemon clutch is so fab!

    Kerry - the slightly longer top over some type of slim bottom (skirt, shorts, cropped pants, full length pants) is a favourite of mine. For me the main element is the fabric in the top. It needs to just skim the waist and hips and the hemline hit my mid hip. Too short a top and the proportions are off and too long, I look like I have no legs.

    Angie - Dusty says thank you for the pat :) It's funny you mention the better light. This outfit pic is taken with my phone instead of my camera and with a new camera app I installed. It doesn't skew my wall colour as much which tended to throw off some if my fabric colours.

    Claire - I'm finally getting back to the gym and getting my eating under control after a stressful winter got the better of me. Thank you for noticing :)

    Great outfit for a hot day. I just bought a sweater with pieces of watermelon knitted into it. I hope it's not too funky. My son loved it but my husband didn't.
