WIW: Kinda Tonal (or is that "toenail"?

Remember how I said I had put all my summer sandals away? Well back in May I had hurt my big toe on my left foot and wondered if I was going to lose the toenail. Last night it started to come off and putting on a shoe was out of the question this morning. Out of the closet came my trusty and comfortable Clarks wedge sandals.

I've paired the sandals with my espresso brown Esprit trousers (my favourite trousers EVER) and a Gap hi-low tee I bought last year, which has brown, beige, cream and indigo blue in it. I added my vintage men's tribal belt to peek out from my semi-tuck and my Fossil handbag for more browns. Jewelry is my vintage gold bracelet. You'll notice that Gain fits right into the colour scheme for today!

What do you think? Proportions and colours all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

    It was a very hot day yesterday so even though it is after labour day, I think sandals are a good choice. The outfit looks smart and office perfect.

    Like this, very much, on you! Of course, you had me at tonal, but these are some great tones (Gail included ;-)!

    I really like those trousers on you - and paired with the shape/proportion of the blouse and that size color belt - very stylish indeed!

    I also have a fair amout of our cat's colors in my closet - I wonder which love started it all?

    Yikes! I realize I had typed my kitty's name as Gail - I have corrected it now. His name is Gain and he would be VERY insulted at my error (lol)!

    Ouch, that must hurt.
    You look amazing with this outfit and the clarks go well with it. That bag gives the final perfect touch to the outfit.

    ETA, I bought a Fossil bag recently and I saw this ones but somehow it didn't look so much my style as it does to you and goldenpig.

    Your poor toe!! I hope it heals up fast.

    On the plus side, you look totally Fall ready, even in sandals. The tonal brown look makes me think of leaves changing color (I hear stories that that happens in some parts, lol).

    Thanks ladies! I feel really good in this outfit and I would say it's 90% due to the proper fit of these trousers.

    Angie - if I'm correct, these wider legged trousers work well because they are hemmed for 2" heels, giving me a bit more leg length, and the wider leg helps to balance out my wider midsection. Would this be correct? This is why I was so sad when Esprit closed down in North America - I had finally found pants that fit and flatter :(

    I love this outfit so much, Shannon --- though I feel bad for your poor toe.

    It's cool and summery, no extra layers to fuss with --- but the colours and patterns and textures are so precisely fall-flavoured... Bravo!

    Shannon, what a fab shirt, and I love the half-tuck! Perfect colors for early fall, especially with the bag.

    Sympathize on the toenail - all the running can't help either.

    And your post makes me think of a couple of MaryK Fun Facts:

    Fun Fact 1: I lost my toenail a few years ago and my nail-less big toe looked exactly like David Letterman's band leader, Paul Shaffer.

    Fun Fact 2: We had an orange kitty when I was growing up! I love orange kitties!!

    MaryK - Paul Shaffer made me laugh heartily!

    Shannon - we are cat twins! My dear orange tabby looks so much like Gain. Her name is Cat 1. She calls me Human 2.

    Sadly, we are also toenail twins. Or more like we *were* toenail twins. Mine is nearly back to normal, it takes a long time doesn't it? It was a year ago I hurt it, almost to the day. Poor little piggies.

    Oh, and your outfit is WONDERFUL! I love browns so much! Proportions are great on you.

    Una - I've been able to run up until yesterday when the nail started to dislodge. I suspect I won't be running for a bit until it's more healed. How annoying!

    MaryK - OMG you are too funny with the Paul Shaffer comparison!

    Julie - why does it take so darned long to heal anyway? The nail has been black for three months and it's just starting to come off now? Thank goodness for pretty policy hiding that hideous nail over the summer.

    Joy - I have no idea what I'm going to do once sandal weather is gone...

    Looking great! Those pants are very flattering on you - you look really tall! I like the color scheme a lot too, it seems very autumnal, even w/ the sandals.

    Yeah, good question as to why it takes so long for a toenail to heal. A broken leg only takes a few months, for gosh's sakes! These toenails obviously think quite a lot of themselves (primadonnas).

    Love the outfit from head to toe (sorry, couldn't help myself, but it's true!) I have been lusting after that Fossil satchel for a while ... I really should just pull the trigger. Is that a tshirt? It looks much nicer than any tshirt I have. Very nice!
