WIW: Houndstooth & Red Booties

I thrifted this cropped houndstooth jacket last night and couldn't wait to bust it out! It's a great cropped length, is double breasted and can either be buttoned right up or just part way so you have a nice large collar (the way I'm wearing it here) or of course undone for a column of colour effect. It's lined, has 3/4 length sleeves and fits me perfectly. I've popped it on top of my black ponte knit sheath dress and then added my new red booties and my quilted red leather handbag for colour. A simple silver bangle is my jewelry.

What do you think? Does this work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Simply Manakin Petite (thrifted)
Dress: Cleo Petite
Booties: Sam Edelman
Handbag: Nine West (thrifted)
Bangle: Sears

Man, you always get going so early!!!! I am just barely awake but you brighten up the morning. Of course I have a whole hour yet before I have to leave the house (still not quite enough time).

What a sweet little jacket! I love black and white on you Shannon, I always have, and you really suit the hounds-tooth too. The cropped cut makes perfect proportions with the dress (open or closed) and the red booties add that modern edge. Love the bag too with that closure. You are giving Deborah a run for her money in your black, white and red!

  • JR replied 11 years ago

Oh seriously Shannon, it's not fair! Why does your thrift store have all the latest trends in mint condition? And why are you so darn good at finding them? *pout*

Which of course is another way of saying that you nailed it again.

You are the queen of thrifting. I really like how your bold lip color pulls out the red of the shoes and handbag as well. Such a great outfit and so very true to your personal style.

    LOVE!!!

    Oh, how I love.

    This is perfection.

Did you see my thread about houndstooth jacket love back in the winter? http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....en-and-now

My first jacket was almost exactly like yours!!

By the way, I am wearing the Gap pants with jacket 2, for your reference. They fit me pretty snug, it looks like, and I've left some scrunch. Maybe they have changed the cut a bit this year or maybe I bought too small a size. Hmmm.

I tried on the Edelman booties today, too, but they didn't have red. They were great, but not as comfortable for me as the ones I bought, weirdly enough (though the heel is higher on the ones I bought. Odd.)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Suz - I do remember that thread about your houndstooth jacket. They're just so classic aren't they?

Took everything back to Gap today at lunch time - no worries. I did notice that just from trying them on and putting on the bed once, they were already pretty covered in cat hair so probably just as well.

I'm so glad your DV booties worked - they look amazing on you. Hmmmm...maybe I'll have to check those out for other colours at some point...
