WIW: Green & Gold

My MIL and I went thrifting last night (she apparently LOVES thrifting) and I found this 100% silk, tiered, slightly boho, fully lined Tommy Hilfiger dress. It's got tuxedo pleats on the top, elasticized waist and then three tiers on the bottom. The only thing I didn't like about it was the little flutter "non sleeve" but I will always wear it with a jacket for work anyway so decided that didn't matter. The colour is much more saturated than it photographed - it is a true kelly green.

I paired the dress with my gold linen jacket and one of my vintage men's belts. Then I added my animal print handbag, trusty brown Clarks wedge sandals (the blister is almost healed) and my vintage gold bracelet for accessories. The dress also looks good with my denim jackets but I wanted to wear this linen one before summer ends.

I'm really happy with how this looks but over to you - what do you think? do the colours and proportions work? As always all comments/suggestions welcome.

Dress: Tommy Hilfiger (thrifted)
Jacket: Jones New York (thrifted)
Belt: vintage (thrifted)
Bracelet: vintage (thrifted)
Handbag: thrifted

Fab score! The color is stunning and I love the layering of the skirt section of the dress. The gold/brown tones supporting this dress look perfect. Can you wear it without a jacket?

On another note, have you finalized your outfit for the wedding?

    Proportions - excellent
    Colors- awesome
Talent for thrifting - out of this world. Seriously!

Looks great Shannon! That colour looks really nice on you, and I love it paired with the golds and browns.

How fun!! Love that sunny green on you :)

Deborah - yes, I can wear it without the jacket - which will be convenient when I'm having a hot flush (lol)! As for the wedding outfit, I'm going with my blue lace dress with the green Poetic Licence pumps. I tried them on together and really liked the combo (so thank you for the suggestion!). The shoes have the jeweled toes so are fun enough for the event and I'm not really a strappy sandal kind of gal anyway. Now I'm just looking for a bit of a sparkly clutch to go with.

Alicat - would love to get MIL involved with YLF but she's an incredibly shy woman so probably won't happen. But she'll enjoy from the sidelines.

    Thanks Krista, Ceit and Rita!

Shannon ... I love this... I so want to come thrifting with you... I never seem to have any luck...

On other note.... How is the blister

Oh a new partner in crime, eh? : P

Luv the new dress! What kind of lining material does it have? It's so hard to find lining that is not polyester.

What does MIL think of YLF and WIW's?

Had to click on this one! One of my favorite color combinations. Love the whole outfit on you. Jealous of your Jones New York gold linen jacket, too. :) I always keep an eye out for the brand as it fits me so well and I like their design ideas.

Cheers for finding a thrifting partner to share in the thrill of finding treasures. This dress is fab and the gold jacket is PERFECT with it, the color, contruction and the drape. The whole ensemble just works- you have skill.

Just look at you adding a menswear belt to a romantic dress with a gold jacket! *happy sigh*. KILLER.

You show true flair with your constantly evolving style. You have so much fun in the process. YOU ARE SO FAB, SHANNON.

    Can I clone you?

Very fun, love the color, spunky! The pattern from the bag and belt really add needed pattern. Keep it up!

WOW!! Shannon you look absolutely stunning!! I just love that colour combination, and from your happy look, so do you! The proportions are spot on (love the just-above-the-knee hemline). What a pity we can't mark one another, 'cos for me this is an 11/10!! :-)

Wow...you have all completely overwhelmed me with your kind words and lovely compliments. Thank you so much.

Ramya - the blister is just about healed. Will be back to wearing other shoes in no time!

AJ - the dress' lining is polyester unfortunately, but it's not too hot. MIL thinks YLF is pretty cool and said she's enjoying seeing my outfits every day!

Angie - you have rendered me speechless with your comments (and believe me - it's pretty hard to render me speechless - lol!). I am indeed having fun and that is in HUGE part due to you and your helpful, kind, insightful feedback and suggestions. You have done more for my self confidence than you will ever know :)
