WIW: For the last day

Anyone who works in healthcare knows there isn't really any "down time" but at least after working today, I will be off until Monday - whoo hoo!!!

Today's outfit was born out of necessity. We're having a wee lunch today for our office and will need to walk about 5 blocks to the restaurant…in the slushy snow. So I knew I wanted to wear knee high boots to keep the slush from splashing up on the back of my pant legs and that I would want something I could walk briskly in, stay warm and have good grip on the slush. So first item chosen was my cognac knee high boots - warm, incredibly comfy, good grip for walking.

So based on the boots, I decided to go with an old favourite colour combo of mine - black and cognac. I grabbed my slim fit ponte knit pants and tucked them into the boots. Then I popped on a white cami and added my cream animal print mixed media drapey tee. On top of that, I've got on my black suit blazer with scrunched sleeves.

I added my two-tone cognac leather handbag to bookend the boots, my rose gold/black watch and red specs for accessories.

I really like how this outfit ended up looking a little bit corporate mixed with a little bit of an equestrian vibe. What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: Nygard
Tee: Lord & Taylor Petite
Trousers: NYDJ
Boots: Hush Puppies
Handbag: Fossil
Watch: Fossil

I wish each and every one of you Happy Holidays and hope you have time to relax, enjoy time with friends and family, and of course, some tasty goodies :)

I love black and cognac together, so modern and fresh. The animal print tee plays perfectly with this outfit. Happy Holidays!

I love cognac and black too - and throw in an animal print too ?  Well, pretty darn perfect for the last day at work. Casual , yet you can be all business when you need to. Enjoy lunch, and Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I absolutely adore this look! I love the mix of colors, the relaxed feel of the tee, and the polished suit jacket. I am so copying this outfit!

Great outfit!  I love how the bag and boots go so well together.  I should try wearing my cognac boots with black pants.  For some reason, it's never occurred to me.

I like how cognac serves as a color rather than a neutral in this outfit. The black and white tee brightens your face. Have fun.

Black and cognac are lovely together!  Yay to being off for a few days, enjoy!

Thanks ladies! Black and cognac used to be a favorite color combination and then I got away from it for a while. I'm glad it has found its way back to me but hopefully in an updated fashion.

And yay for being uber comfortable too - it has turned out to be an extremely busy morning at work due to a wee bit of crisis so have been physically doing a bit of running from one clinical unit to another. When my feet are happy, ALL of Shannon is happy :)

Beautifully done.  Love the combo of rich cognac against high-contrast b/w.

    Happy Holidays!

Ooh, I like how the cognac and cream warm up the black outfit. And I love that your bag coordinates with the boots, while not being an exact matched set. You look so chic. I often dress from the feet up, too, so I appreciated hearing your thought process. Have a wonderful long weekend off!

I love the combination and how the top binds it all. It would not work without the bag, but to my eye the specs are the unexpected bookend to your boots.

    Wonderful outfit Shannon.
Have a great few days off!

Oh, and wanted to tell you that based on your glowing reports, I thought I'd try the nydj suede front leggings, esp when they were on major sale. They arrived today.... Holy cow comfortable!! But definitely leggings on me, not pants. :). I will be keeping them.

Love the touches of cognac here!

Perfect outfit for that slushy day, hope it was fun! That animal top is not "just a common one", as it has those brown shades bookending the cognac from your leather ware! Veryvery sophisticated:-)
