WIW: For my own interview

I've assisted my boss the last two days in conducting interviews for a position within our department and today, I'm being interviewed for a different position I applied for in our department. It's a more casual one-on-one interview and did not require a suit. So I'm taking the opportunity to debut a new jacket I purchased a few weeks ago.

I fell HARD for this collarless, tuxedo-style, cut-away inspired jacket. The back and sleeves are black and then the front has this lovely graffiti-esque pattern in silk. I love collarless jackets in that they work very well for my short neck and can actually make my top half look a bit longer. I've shown it with the sleeves scrunched but of course will wear the sleeves full length for the interview.

I've paired the jacket with a purple silk tank underneath to pull out the purple tones in the print of the jacket, and have added simple black trousers. I also bought these trousers last week as my other black ones were simply too big. I do still have my Editors but am not sure I still love the very wide legs. Will have to play with them when I have some time.

I wanted to wear my black patent Ara booties but they have lining that just makes them too warm yet - probably good for next week when our temperatures begin to plummet. So instead I chose my cobalt suede booties.

Handbag is my trusty old black and white leather one and just my wedding ring and a rose gold ring for jewelry.

What do you think? does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: RW & Co.
Tank: Gap
Trousers: Attitude by Jay Manuel
Boots: Aerosole
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)

I saw that one in the store, Shannon, it's lovely! The sleeveless shell in the same colourway was super tempting to me.

    Good luck on your interview!

You look beautifully put together. That jacket is "wow" and the fit looks perfect. Perfect interview outfit for your situation. Wishing you all the best for the interview.

I can see how you fell hard for this jacket, Shannon. Amongst all the stuff of yours that you rock, this may be one of your best pieces yet. It's so unique and yet appears to be really versatile. What a brilliant addition to your wardrobe.

What a great jacket, Shannon, it really is exquisite on you. I love the moodiness of the print. Good luck with the interview!

What a fabulous jacket, Shannon! You cleaned up at RW&Co. !!! A store I was barely aware of before YLF. Some of the stuff is fun and they follow the trends pretty well. This is a terrific outfit. And I know what you mean about booties and the temps. There are certain ones I don't bring out until it gets cooler, for sure.

    ETA: GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks for the jacket love :) I did one quick outfit tweak before leaving the house. I decided to tuck the tank and add my black leather belt. I felt it was just a little more professional looking for the interview than the drapey tank untucked.

Mochi - one of my best pieces yet? Wow - thank you.

Suz - normally RW & Co clothing does NOT fit me. Tops and jackets are especially long in the body and arms for me and they do not carry petites. The shoulders of their jackets always fit though so I suspect their fit models are on the taller side but very narrow frames. But this jacket is actually described as cropped and would be quite short on a taller gal but works really well for my height. I did have to shorten the sleeves though.

Great jacket!  No wonder you fell hard for it.  I like the way you've styled it here so the jacket is the focal point of the outfit.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

    WOW.

    Killer

That jacket is sensational and fits your body type to a tee, Shannon. Imagine it with a skirt too.

Hope your informal interview went well. xo

    Knock 'em dead Shannon!

I love that jacket on you too! It shows off all your best assets, your long graceful neck and small waist and the tank shows your pretty delecote (how do you make an accent mark, anyway?). I love that modern print. Super fab!

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

I can see why you fell in love with that jacket and I love that you wore blue booties.  Do you have blue eyes?  After Angie's post on book ending I am intrigued by matching the eyes concept.  Good luck!!

  • Carole replied 10 years ago

    Gorgeous-good luck.

  • merwoman replied 10 years ago

I'd hire you in a heartbeat - as long as you promised to go shopping with me!

    hope the interview went well.
you look FAB! that jacket is great.

  • replied 10 years ago

OMG...I love that jacket, great call on pairing with the purple tank.  I still find you taking  my breath away.  This is just beautiful, I like the blue booties with it and am kind of glad it was too warm for the black ones.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Best of luck! And OMG, I want that jacket... O_O

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

    I want that jacket! YLF!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

Lively outfit! What a great jacket.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

So the jacket is a keeper then? - lol! This jacket was one of those items where I actually "ooohed" and "aaaahhhhed" when I saw it and then gasped when I put it on. Love at first sight! I'm hoping the dark blue Lanai I ordered will fit the same way.

Angie - will definitely be pairing this with skirts. I'm already thinking with my black pencil skirt, black hose of some type and my black patent Ara booties. I'm also thinking with my dark denim pencil skirt and my red booties. Might even have to look for a fuller swishy skirt to work with it.

AviaMariah - my eyes are dark brown actually. No other blue in the outfit but went for the booties anyway.

The interview was probably one of the most intense and grueling I've ever been involved in. An hour and a half of difficult questions. Now we wait and see.

Thanks for the love ladies - and it's coming right back at y'all :)

LUV your interview look Transcona! It works very well
together. Makes me think of: classic meets mod, mod meets retro! You
incorporated vibes from each of these and it works so well together and gives a
    snapshot of the authentic you!

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

You're hired!  (just because you wore that jacket - I don't care how you answered the questions.)  ;-)

  • jayne replied 10 years ago

Best of luck Shannon!  I am sure you wowed them

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

Fabulous jacket!  I don't know how I didn't see this until now.  I love it.  Good luck!

  • DonnaF replied 10 years ago

Love that jacket!  And you're looking ever so slim and trim.  I suppose you can think about whether you want those old Express trousers taken in from top to toe rather than just slimmed down at the top.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

I always love your pics Shannon!
Especially the last of your lovely accessories :)

  • Sona replied 10 years ago

love the colors in the jacket. Very subtly played with the shoes. Great choice and eye for detail.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Fabulous jacket, very well styled, Shannon!

You looked the part.  Let's hope, particularly after a long interview, you GET the part!

The colors are FABULOUS! I have been in love with reds and plums this fall. I can see why you fell so hard. I hope the interview went well -- the jacket certainly set the tone.

  • Nadya replied 10 years ago

Great outfit and I'm rooting for you from Oregon!

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Shannon, you're hired! Anyone who looks that smartly dressed must get the job! Love that amazing jacket on you--the sharp shoulders and floral print are perfect for you! And I love your hair and makeup too!

  • Raisin replied 10 years ago

    Beautiful jacket!  You look great!

  • Vicki replied 10 years ago

Shannon, you look magnificent and I hope your interview goes well!  You've selected the right colors and silhouette (love this jacket and can see why you fell so hard for it!) to create the most suitable tone for this meeting.
