WIW: Tough Fall Floral

I wanted to wear my floral VC tube skirt one or two more times before it's too late in the season but needed to find a way to "fall-ify" the skirt. So I chose my navy with lurex thread hi-low light weight sweater to top it with and then added my Doc Marcie boots. I wasn't sure if I would like mid calf boots with a midi skirt but I really like the look - I think because the Marcie's fit my ankle and calf in a slim manner so there is no gaping - that's what makes it work.

I then added my cobalt and cream quilted handbag and when I step out the door, will top the outfit with my Spiegel leather jacket. I ADORE this jacket and how it is so different from my sleek Danier Leather black jacket. Thanks again Amiable for helping a Canadian YLFer :)

I realize I forgot to put on lipstick for the pictures but will be wearing a fairly neutral lip today as I'm wearing a wee bit of a daytime smokey eye. I will probably scrunch the sleeves of my sweater part way through the day as well as it warms up.

So what do you think? Does this ensemble make the skirt work for fall? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Laura Petite (gift from DS)
Skirt: Vince Camuto (via eBay)
Boots: Doc Marten
Handbag: Danier Leather
Jacket: Spiegel

Inspired dressing! This is one fabulous outfit. I really like the calf height boots with the midi, in fact I often prefer that look to ankle booties. I am not sure why but the proportions are excellent.

That is a great outfit, Shannon.  I love the leather/boot/floral combination.  Inspiring.

Awesome, Shannon! That floral skirt is so fab. I think I need to keep my eye open for a repeat offer of that pattern. Gorgeous juxtapositions here!

I agree with Deb, the proportions work so well in this outfit. You look fabulous! I particularly love the Spiegel over it all.

Shannon, your outfits are getting progressively more WOW!
I couldnt believe how gorgeous you looked yesterday for your interview, I didnt comment as i was too late to the party. Todays outfit is superb.
I am going to have to start pinning your outfits.

Yes, this outfit totally works for fall.  Nice strong colors here.  That's a really fun printed skirt.

Great outfit!  I think the dark colors and floral pattern of the skirt make it appropriate for any season.

Just gorgeous, Shannon.  I love everything about this outfit. I want to go stalk ebay for this skirt now so that I can copy it.

So glad you think the skirt works for fall because I got it so late in the summer and wasn't ready to stop wearing it yet!

Suz - this floral skirt would work so incredibly well with your wardrobe. As for the interview, it was one of the most grueling and intense interviews I've ever been involved in. Felt like I needed a nap when it was done. Now we wait and see. It was an excellent experience though - I always learn something.

donnat - thank you so much :)

I have learned lately that creating some sort of juxtaposition in an outfit is becoming a bit of a signature for me and needs to be added to my rubric.

Thanks for the comments my sweet Fabbers :)

    Killer

Another quintessential Shannon look from Queen Floral. I love the outfit both unlayered - and with the bells and whistles of the jacket and bag.

K in my eyes! I kind of want a floral skirt in black and white now, like your jacket.
