WIW: New Striped Dress

I bought this dress a few weeks ago at Cleo Petite and have been waiting for real spring to arrive in order to wear it. All the snow has finally melted from my yard and we hit +15 Celcius yesterday, so I guess it's time to wear it!

This dress is a jersey knit black, cobalt and white stripe dress with an elastic waist, giving the dress a blouson effect. It is sleeveless but has wide enough shoulder straps to wear on its own comfortably. It has pleats at the rounded neckline and I really like the midi length. I've paired it with a knit black blazer with 3/4 length sleeves, also picked up at Cleo Petite a few weeks ago. I like to have a black blazer in my wardrobe at all times but needed a light weight knit for the warmer months.

I removed the stretchy belt that came with the dress and have instead popped on my black leather belt with silver buckle. Nude hose and my black pointy toe kitten heel pumps round out the outfit. I've added pops of white with my watch and handbag.

What do you think? Were the dress and jacket good spring/summer picks? I can see this dress also working with my white leather jacket, white denim jacket, blue denim jacket and various belts and shoes/sandals. As always, all comment/suggestions welcome.

Dress & jacket: Cleo Petite
Shoes: Calvin Klein
Handbag: Danier Leather
Watch: thrifted

Yes Shannon! I think this looks great. It will also look good with a denim jacket I think!

    The blazer is nice too!

Classic yet fun, what's not to love.

Yes, you must try it with the white Danier; with pumps for work and sassy sneakers for play.

I love the proportions!  Pairing this dress with a white bag brings on the spring factor. I love this and the detailing at the neck is lovely. You look wonderful!

Love the dress with the delicate shoes! The jacket looks great with it too. I am still waiting for Cleo Petites to hire you as its model!

You look sharp as can be in that dress, Shannon!
I love the crisp stripes and the pleat detailing at the neck.
The length looks great, too. I wish so much that there were more dresses available that length!

Very nice dress!  I like the length on you a lot!  A lightweight knit jacket is a must for me for summer months as well, and this one looks great.

You had me at stripes, Shannon! Can we see it sans the jacket at some point? You look terrific in this outfit and the nude hose really make you look polished.

Love everything about the look! The length, the neck pleating, the stripes. It looks great on you! It looks like it can be easily lightened for the summer with a light-colored jacket or sweater, too.

Sorry I'm so late getting back to all your lovely comments :)

Claire - you will definitely be seeing this dress without the jacket once it warms up more. In fact, you will probably get sick of seeing me in this dress as I plan on wearing the heck out of it until the end of fall!

    Thanks everybody.

It's a beautiful dress, and you look fab as usual! I love the stripes and the length. Your styling skills are impeccable, the blazer and bag are perfect choices. I'm looking forward to seeing it with a lighter topper, too.

You look great - can't wait for you to get warmer weather so I can see the dress without the jacket.

Joining in the chorus of 'fab dress'. You wear it so well. I particularly like seeing the belt buckle peeping out. Kudos!

Regal :). And Classic Chic! And still fun! You wear this look well, Shannon.

I'm also wearing a dress and a jacket today :)

Love the dress, Shannon! I have the same jacket and I wear it at least once a week, twice if I can get away with it. It's perfect with everything.  I just bought the fuchsia and the cobalt jackets because the sale this weekend was 30% off everything - I couldn't resist!

Great shape and length, Shannon. The proportions work well with the jacket, too.  I love dresses like these because they can be accessorized many ways.  Look forward to seeing it make a repeat performance!
