WIW: Double Cognac

Sounds like a cocktail, doesn't it? :)

As per Angie's blog post yesterday, I'm trying to get through the long, cold winter by adding interesting layers, wearing a variety of boots and toppers.

Today's outfit started with my ponte knit black jeggings and my hi-lo twist front tank. On top of that, I added my cognac moto jacket as an indoor topper. I like the finish on this jacket - a sort of "dirty, beat-up" look.

To bookend the jacket and wear a different pair of warm boots, I chose my cognac knee high equestrian-ish boots.

I finished off the outfit with rose gold/black watch, gold wedding band, red specs and red lipstick.

I know that the high contrast between the boots and the jeggings is leg shortening but I'm hoping it's negated by the shorter jacket and is not unflattering.

So….over to you…does this work? Are the proportions JFE? Even though the two cognac colours are not a match, do they still bookend successfully? Does this even work as an ensemble? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Works to my eye - the non-matching cognacs does not bother me at all and as you said the short jacket balances the leg contrast. Excellent outfit!

Works for my eye too!  Like the idea of a non-black boot for a change (on everyone and anyone, not you in particular) . Think I might wear something similar today myself.

I really like this Shannon ! It has a very sophisticated look to it. Although, black boots would have been traditionally more flaterring , I think brown works well here because of the color repetition. Missed your smile :-)

    Super cute.

I love the smattering of red with the cognac. And isn't that a great jacket. Gorgeous texture.

Great jacket! The column of color aids in the contrast boot color.

This works beautifully, Shannon! And perfect for a frigid Friday!!

I think it looks great - love the mix of the cognac, black and a little red.

Lovely! The browns on top and bottom over the column of black is plenty lengthening. This is my favorite way to wear lots of brown ^^ Gorgeous finish on the moto, too.

Gorgeous, Shannon - cognac with black looks so "rich" and your complete outfit works together beautifully. You look great. (More jacket envy here.)

Oh thank you ladies! I wasn't entirely sure this worked so glad that the YLF "eagle eyes" have deemed it ok :)

Suz - "Frigid Friday" indeed! Right Lisa?

This jacket was a bit of a wild card purchase for me - I don't really wear brown per se and the finish was almost a little RATE for my style. But it has turned out to be surprisingly versatile.

It works very well for me.I actually find that sometimes lighter boots although they make a horizontal line in the silhouette they help balance the hips. Especially when the rest is a column of color.

I think it works perfectly, Shannon.  The proportions are spot on to my eye, and the cognac/black combo is lovely.
