WIB Dreaming of Spring

Had to do some running about last night and decided to look at spring footwear - a gal's gotta dream that spring will arrive right?

I've been considering adding a pair of high vamp peep toe bootie sandals in a nude-for-me shade but finding that to fit my high volume, high arch with PF, bunion, short, wide toe box but narrow heeled feet is no small task. Good grief, aging provides foot issues doesn't it?!

Well I found them and I can't say enough how thrilled I am. These are Steve Madden and the leather upper is buttery soft. They are wide enough to accommodate the bunions and my wider forefoot. The ankle fits nicely and the hidden elastic panel in the ankle strap allows for nice flex when striding. The arch is high enough for good support and is in exactly the right spot on my feet. And the heels are a substantial width at 2 inches which I can wear comfortably.

Once spring arrives, I plan on wearing these with everything. I might even bust them out with nude hose once the snow is gone. They also come in black which I am considering.

ETA: I normally wear a 6.5 but that size was huge - I bought the 6.

Pretty! I like the shot with your cat taking a bath in the background :)

  • AndiB replied 9 years ago

I got these last year. Same but with higher heel (wish I had the lower). They are so comfy, stylish and in trend. Can't wait to bust 'em out (as you love to say!!) but way too cold in Michigan for that

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

These are really nice - great find! Can you share a link or provide their name?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Above is the link to the sandals Sveta - I bought them at Sterling Shoes in the local mall and they were $129. The Bay also carries them but I only see them on The Bay website in the higher heel version.

TylerAnne - OMG! I didn't even notice Dusty Bottom having his morning bath behind me…too funny.

AndiB - great to hear that you have found these comfy. It's funny how the colour on the Madden website says "grey" when they are definitely nude.

Killer. I love them, Shannon. Very versatile. I wish I could wear them too.

Yeah, I bought a pair of these too last year - ended up returning them.  Quite a few labels seem to have their version of this shoe (not sure where it originated) . Glad to hear you love them - they look great on you!  The ones I bought at Browns had a higher heel - super soft and lovely, but I just cannot do a peep or open toe.  I bet you are just dying to wear them - you'll get a ton of use out of such a great colour!

And smiling at your kitty :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

I take it these don't work for your fussy feet Angie?

And Dusty says thank you :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Lisa - do you find the peep toe uncomfortable or is it just a style that you don't care for?

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

The peep-toe is a problem unfortunately.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

    sorry to hear that Angie.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Oooh!! I love them!! I think I need a pair, too. We have a Sterling in our local mall, I believe. Thank you for the tip, Shannon. Will be checking them out.

Those are gotta-haves! I've only been on this forum for a few weeks, and it's definitely costing me a lot of money in terms of temptations to shop!

  • Gigi replied 9 years ago

These look great on you! I'm glad you found something that works.

  • replied 9 years ago

I've become super self-conscious of the way my toes look poked out from a peep toe - just a personal thing.

  • krishnidoux replied 9 years ago

Good for you! Yes, I find Steve Madden shoes extra comfortable for challenged feet, and it's not too expensive either. These are totally you.

  • retailgirl replied 9 years ago

They look great, very comfy! I don't know if I'd like them as much in black...I'd have to see them on. I'm kind of down on black footwear lately...it strikes me as heavy. Even though I wear black often! I substitute red, burgundy, leopard or a pair of gray and black lace ballet flats I have.

  • Robidi replied 9 years ago

    Love these!

  • Mellllls replied 9 years ago

those look fab!  i have always had good luck with steve madden footwear.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

Well I LOVE peep-toes, and these look great!

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

Love these, Shannon -- they will be marvelous, once the danger of frostbite passes!

  • Ruth M replied 9 years ago

It's a joy to find comfortable footwear, and these look fab, Shannon.

  • Meredith replied 9 years ago

Super cute and a great nude for your skin tone.

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 9 years ago

Looks good. Target had a very similar version last summer, but by the time I knew about them they were out of my size in the nude. Maybe they'll have them again this year.

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

They look great - nice modern classics :) :)

  • always trying replied 9 years ago

so great top find shoes you love that your feet love also.  This is a great style, and I have been looking for something like this, but everything I find has a heel that is a bit too high.  This height of a block heel is harder to come by.  I have searched steve madden but have not found anything with this heel!Amazon , zappos, etc.

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

I saw shoes like this before and loved the way they looked but some of them had 3-4" heels which ruled them out. Great to know SM is making them in a lower heel height now and that they fit your foot. It sounds like we have similar feet (narrow heel, wide forefoot, high instep).

  • Runcarla replied 9 years ago

Oooooh! Shannon, I have been stalking these very same shoes at a Towne Shoes near where I work. Was hopping for a slightly lower heel, but the Steeve Maddens really do look so do-able, and the colour is so versatile. I kept checking to see that they really were leather, they are so soft.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

These look so fab on you, Shannon. I find that adding a "foot petal" inside the shoe at the ball of the foot helps with peep toes because they keep the foot from moving forward in the shoe. These are a great nude shade.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

    Just perfect for you Shannon!

  • Greyscale replied 9 years ago

Oooooh. Those look like lower heels than the Steve Madden ones everyone sold last year! Last year's were too high, but these look perfect for me! This is so exciting.

I usually only buy shoes with a leather lining because my feet are really picky, but these are so perfect and I've been searching for something like this all year... I might have to give in to practicality.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Thanks everyone :) Now I just have to be patient until I can wear them.

By the way, the listing for the shoes say the heel is 2.5" but I just measured them and they are exactly 2".

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

They are fab!  I have the same ones (not SM tho) in this colour and black.  They have been my go to Spring Summer Shoe:)  Enjoy, they look great.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

These are great. I've been combing my shopping sites and B&M stores for a pair of sandals, in the hope that summer will bring sandal weather this year. (It's not always a given here in Seattle.) Like you, I have various foot issues, on top of color and style criteria!

  • Mona replied 9 years ago

I really like them and am wondering if I can wear these on an 18 hour long flight to India in May. Hmmm.....

  • kerry replied 9 years ago

Love! I've been eyeballing a pair of Mimosas like these at Browns since last summer. I liked that they had the lower heel. I liked the Steve Madden version last year (much better price point!) but it was too high. I'm excited about these with the lower heel - must find!

  • Thistle replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous shoes!  *sigh* Now we wait, and wait, and wait. I am not believing the groundhog that said we only have 2 more weeks of winter.

  • marianna replied 9 years ago

So refreshing to see spring shoes. Gives me hope! :) These are gorgeous!

  • Momo replied 9 years ago

Love those. They look like they blend perfectly with your skin tone.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

OH, I love them sooo much (Hah, Deborah, you were my inspiration for wishing me a pair of these)-so I have something very very similar on my wish list for summer. I'm just not decided on which color to go, as I probably need them both...(tan and back)...:-(
