WIW: Day 1 of dress challenge

I was thrilled to see Ingunn's suggestion to have a dress challenge this week and I decided to further my own challenge, by ensuring I wear dresses I haven't worn as often or since the warmer weather arrived.

Today's offering is my graphic black/white tiered dress that I bought two years ago. I've popped on my light weight black knit blazer over top for A/C coverage and added my simple but very comfortable Clarks sandals.

I have two pops of colour in my bright pink vintage Bakelite bangle and my citron leather clutch. I guess my pink toenails and lipstick are further pops of colour if you want to get technical - lol!

What do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket and dress: Cleo Petite
Sandals: Clarks
Clutch: Gap
Bangle: thrifted

This is the perfect work outfit. I'm so borrowing this look (I need to find a dress though).

    Well done!

I love this dress and the whole outfit. You have a fun new way to wear black and white...with an unexpected pop of lemon and pink.

    You lovely thing, you :)

YLF!! Love the bright accessories against the graphic black and white.

Beautiful! It's the simplicity that makes this shine :)

really like. perhaps a white jacket as the weather gets warmer?

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Beautiful dress and those sandals make a very flattering line on your legs. You look great!

Sona - the only white jacket I have is my white denim jacket. Do you think that would work?

Thanks ladies - I forgot how comfortable this dress was.

    Love that dress Shannon.

I always love you in black and white, and the color accents are fun! You look great.

Sharp, darling. SHARP! The pops of neon pink and yellow are grand, taking it into fun fashionista territory :)

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

I think YES! I really love the pops of color, how elegant and fun! The dress is gorgeous and deserves repeats often.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Love this! That citron bag has been an absolute outfit changer this spring! I am normally not a neon fan, but I love it so much and think I might just have to copy! I adore this dress, and I also looked right away to see what the sandals are; they are great looking. Are they from a few seasons ago? I would like to find some similar.
Love your hair, too, oh hair twin!

TS, this outfit is superb!  Why has this dress been sitting unloved?  It's beautiful!  The pops of bright add some fun while the rest is modern sophisticated with a splash of arty.  So FAB!

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

    Another super outfit, Shannon!

    No white jacket???
    I think we've identified a wardrobe hole! :-)
Seriously, you'd wear it all the time if you had one!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

This cheery little clutch has indeed been an outfit changer (as Suz put it) - it just makes me smile every time I look at that happy color and it seems to work with almost everything, from casual to dressy.

Suz - you absolutely DO need to copy the clutch! The sandals are at least 4-5 years old and still in really good shape and very comfortable. If I could find them in white - ha ha ha!!!

AJ - why has this dress been sitting unloved you ask? Well, to be honest, it was much too tight until now :)

Glad you like my outfit today ladies - of course, we all know I love to wear dresses!

  • Tanya replied 10 years ago

Beautiful as always.  The citron clutch really packs a punch.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Parsley - I did originally have a white blazer on my spring/summer list but have yet to find one that fits properly. Still keeping an eye out though should one come along.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

I think I tried on a million white jackets, but in the end I found not one, but TWO that I love. You might have good luck with these:

    http://bananarepublic.gapcanad.....=410137003

    http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/p.....3805?color

The first one is great with pants, but probably too long with dresses, but the second one is perfect with dresses.
They both fit me like a dream. I'm sort of between sizes, and took the larger size in the Banana Republic one and the smaller in the Ann Taylor.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Oh Parsley - you are a sweet enabler aren't you? :) I actually have to go return the non-white white jeans tomorrow and there just happens to be a BR in the same mall...uh oh...

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

I love you in dresses Shannon & this is no exception. I can't wait to see what you wear the rest of the week.

  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago

Shannon, what about your white leather jacket? Too heavy?

Anyway, love this look on you!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Beautiful dress - so glad it fits now! I love the pops of color, especially the citron clutch. Don't you just love Clarks shoes? They are so comfy.

I missed the post about the dress challenge, I'm going to have to go look that up :)

  • Mochi replied 10 years ago

Awesome colors and silhouette. Pulling off a fresh, funky and still dress code-approved work look is no mean feat, and you are killer at it, slim, sleek Shannon.

  • harmonica replied 10 years ago

Awesome! Love that dress, the pattern is just gorgeous. And fun, fun accessories. GP is also into black/white territory - did you have some mental agreements in advance? ;-)

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Great use of black and white.  The pops of color make it fresh for the season.  Very nice!
