White sandals & the comfort factor

I posted a thread last week ago about my great white sandal hunt http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....dal-search and in the last three days have tried on probably upwards of 20 pairs of white sandals. I've tried on smooth leather, patent leather, mixed leather with straw or cork, wedge heeled, kitten heeled, no heeled, ankle strap, thong style, slide on, strappy, dainty, chunky and they have all been lovely and that have all been UNCOMFORTABLE. Seriously uncomfortable. Either the ankle straps hit me in the wrong spot or they're too narrow to accommodate my newly acquired baby bunion or they don't have a soft footbed, etc.

So I went back to the thread I linked to above and decided to try on pair #3 (the Fugitive sandal with the bone closed toe and silver criss cross straps). There wasn't a lot of love for these from the forum but at this point, I figured nothing ventured, nothing gained right?

I tried them on last night and you know how I commented that my new Blondo sandals are a 10 out of 10 on the comfort scale? Well these Fugitive sandals are a 20. I swear I could feel my feet say "aaaaahhhhhh" when I put them on. They are the perfect width to accommodate my bunion, the footbed is positively luxurious and spongy, the heel doesn't come up too high on the back and there isn't a pinch or rub anywhere on my foot. They are not a true white but a bone colour and have a hint of sci-fi with the silver straps and a silver cap on the back of the foot. IMO they would work with both casual wear and dresses/skirts. They won't work for very dressy but in all honesty, I don't need a lot of dressy for the warm months.

So I bought them and here they are with the dress/white denim jacket combo that got me thinking about white sandals in the first place. I fully realize they will not be everyone's cuppa but comfort has ruled here. I will also admit that I really like how different they are from what else I've seen and yet I find them still quite ladylike. I am interested to hear what you think of the style both generally and for me but I guess I should point out that unless y'all say they are "buck ugly", they are staying based on pure comfort and fun factor.

BTW I did find the Nine West sandals (sandal #2 in my original thread) and they were way too narrow for the front of my foot and the ankle strap was much too high for me.

    I love them.

I love them, too! The silver straps are gorgeous.

Comfort always rules for me. I love these! I missed your first post about them.

I am wondering if you would be able to add the picture with the black belt and sandals that started this. I am such a visual person seeing them side by side might help me understand a bit more.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Not ugly - I love them much better on your feet than in the picture... and 20 out of 10 comfort? Can't beat that, right?
    I think they are keepers!

  • pil replied 10 years ago

I missed that thread. These are terrific!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

You are all so sweet! They are kind of cool in a good way, aren't they?

mtgirl - here's the link to my WIW post with the dress with black belt and black sandals http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ue-stripes

They are not ugly. I was one who chose the others over these because there was a choice on offer but nothing wrong with these.

  • replied 10 years ago

    Thank you so much!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Actually they remind me Fidji in style.

  • Kristin L replied 10 years ago

They look pretty cute to me. And if they are as comfortable as you say, by all means wear them!

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

I really like them - I think they're fun and different, although I don't know if I would call them sandals :p

I've been having trouble with sandals too this year! I'm glad you found something slendid!

  • Nicole D replied 10 years ago

They are beautiful!  Really like them!  BUT....are they sandals?  Will they satisfy the sandals jones or will you keep searching?  Only time will tell.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

They look so much better on than what I remember of the stock shot. They read like an updated nude color - both leg lengthening and completely now with the silver and bone. And super comfortable - what could be better?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

lyn* and Nicole - not technically a sandal I guess, even though they were in the sandal section of the store. We could call them a "shoe-dal" - half shoe, half sandal - lol!

Shevia - the silver straps really tickled my fancy, I must say.

Sveta - I thought of Fidjis too when I saw them

    Thanks Elle and Kristin.

  • Diana replied 10 years ago

The only thing I was originally concerned about with these was the black sole, but honestly the sole is much less overwhelming on your foot than in the stock photo.  So I love them and hooray for comfort!

I think they look like Fidjis too.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Diana - I was really worried about the black sole myself and was surprised at how hard it was to try and find sandals that didn't have dark soles (whether it be black or brown). Once I put these on and looked in the mirror, I honestly didn't even see the black soles. Thanks for the "hooray"!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Comfort trumps all, especially with sandals. I really like these but my only reservation is that they are not white, although maybe it's good that they don't match the jacket and belt but are still light.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

You know Joy - this is the one point that is bothering me. If the toe on these were a true white, it would be a slam dunk. But I just haven't found white ones that work.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

You should keep these. I think they will be workhorses this summer. But keep an eye out for the perfect pair with white in the meantime. They will probably show up when you stop looking :)
I have yet to find some comfortable ones too. I have an older pair that will need to be replaced.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Joy - sounds like a great idea. Besides I think if I returned these, my feet would just get up and leave in disgust - lol!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Ooh, very edgy. A little HLish even. Must investigate this brand.

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

I have a poison eye for white footwear, so that means I like this bone and silver pair.  :)

20 out of 10 for comfort PLUS they look cute?  Done deal!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

    I adore them too! KEEP.

The black sole would be a dealbreaker for me, but it absolutely works for you by naturally bookending your hair.

Could you provide a link to the style, Shannon. Thanks!

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

20 out of 10 on the comfort scale? Sold!!!

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

I think they are really cute!  But in my wardrobe, they would not be considered sandals or even a replacement for white sandals!  Will you be able to wear these with everything that you planned to wear the white sandals with?

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

They look great on you, Shannon! And I hear you about the comfort issues. I have yet to find white sandals that feel okay. I may sit this one out and be PPP for a year....hoping the trend will filter by next year and there will be more options.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

I think they're cute too, but I agree I don't see "sandal" when I look at these. I think open toe when I think sandal, but I'm in a pretty warm climate, so YMMV. At any rate, I say wear and enjoy!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Rae - I've now tried on a few different styles in the Fugitive brand and they have all been extremely comfortable and a little different. I'm kind of smitten, I must admit.

AJ - I know a few folks who don't like the starkness of pure white footwear so you are definitely not alone.

Angie - here's the link to the shoe-dals http://www.canadianfootwear.co.....903-LB205-. Glad you like them and I hadn't thought of it, but of course my hair bookends the black sole.

Marley & Janet - agreed that they are not sandals in the true sense of the word. But I've been thinking about that since I got these and there is still a lot of the foot that shows and they definitely aren't footwear I would wear when the cold weather comes or with tights in the winter so in my head, they work as sandals.

Marley - I honestly don't know if these will work with everything that white sandals would have but I love them enough to wear and keep these. Now that I've returned the Jones New York strange non-white white jeans and few other things lately, should true white sandals present themselves that are comfortable, I can get those too. In the meantime, these will be fab and comfy.

I was also thinking that my office has freezing cold A/C in the summer (which I why I always need a topper of some sort) so this way, my toes won't freeze like they do in true sandals - so I can see that as being an advantage.

  • jenanded replied 10 years ago

they look way cute and look great with the outfit and your smile... great find x

  • Sarah A replied 10 years ago

I love these! And warm comfy toes are so necessary. Not settling at all, in ref. to your other thread :)

  • replied 10 years ago

I don't think you are settling either. I have been looking for months for a shoe-dal like this as I cannot wear open toed shoes when I am in the lab, and it is usually cold enough in here that my feet are freezing!

  • Andrea W replied 10 years ago

Lovely sandals and certainly not 'fugly' at all.
