WIW: Cameron & The Polka Dots

Doesn't that sound like a band name?

Today is the debut of my TR Cameron slim BF jeans - yay for Denim Day at work :)

I wanted to pair the jeans with something slightly unexpected for their first outing so popped on my vintage red and white polka dot silk jacket. This is one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe and I hope to have it for many more years to come.

I think this jacket also helps to dress up the jeans a little and downplay the more rugged feel of the jeans (which have a bit of distressing) to make them more work appropriate, even though it is a casual day.

To pull out the white polka dots of the jacket, I'm wearing my bone laser cut oxfords. These are also very comfortable shoes which is great because I'm taking the bus to and from work today as my car is in the shop getting some routine maintenance and love.

I'm wearing my white belt to keep up my pants and I like how it peeks out a bit underneath the jacket.

My cream satchel finishes off the outfit, a swipe of red lipstick and we're off...

Does the vintage jacket work with the jeans and create an interesting juxtaposition with the jeans? Are the proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: vintage
Jeans: True Religion Cameron
Belt: Danier Leather (thrifted)
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Handbag: Danier leather

P.S. We had one heckuva rain storm last night which broke the heat - this is why I can even contemplate wearing jeans today!

Can you scrunch the sleeves? I think it would make it more summery looking!

I hope we get storms today, they keep splitting and going around the city and my garden is dying from lack of water.

Oh poop - forgot to scrunch...done now...thanks for catching that Ceit!

The air feels wonderful this morning thanks to last night. I'm actually able to open the windows instead of sit in the A/C.

Ack! You are too fab Shannon!! I'll be your groupie! I love the red and white polka dots and those boyfriend jeans are perfect on you! And I love how the perforations on the white shoes echo the polka dots. How does the blazer look open?

How fun--we are twinnies...I also recently wore a red and white polka dot top and boyfriend jeans here when I got a matching red purse for DD!

WOW, I really love this on you!    You look bright and happy and bouncy... and tall.  Aren't you a petite?    The proportions and the colors in this outfit are perfect.

Natalie - yay for polka dot twinnies! Maybe I should convince hubby that I also need a red Chanel bag so we can be TRUE twinnies - lol! The jacket looks great open too but I decided today to wear it as a shirt, rather than a jacket. Less layers that way in case it gets warmer than the weatherman is predicting.

LBD - only 5'1". Glad the proportions are working. I don't mind looking my height but it's always nice if I can fool the eye and look taller.

Small outfit tweak - thanks to Ceit's reminder, I have scrunched the sleeves and added my white watch. Definitely more summery.

I really love this on you!  Like that you scrunched the sleeves.

Also, I like the pop of cream at the neckline to pull in the fab accessories and shoes.

Heck yes, this works. I agree with LBD, you have the proportions spot on.
Glad you scrunch as Ceit suggested. BTW I could just imagine Cameron and the polka dots playing a bit of doo-wop :D

    KILLER

(I'm back to commenting on outfits now that the NAS mayhem has passed).

The Pretty Urban Prince! I'm feeling the need for Pretty too. May I have tea and cake in your Kingdom?

Great color in that jacket.  And fun footwear.  I also vote for scrunching the sleeves on the jacket.

Thistle - "pop of cream at the neckline" - does this mean my skin qualifies as an accessory? - lol!

    Diane - oh definitely doo-wop!

Angie - oh my, have you managed to get any sleep? You must be exhausted. By all means, we must have tea and cake :)  BTW, I must thank you again for telling me about these jeans and the encouragement that they could work on me. These are positively the BEST jeans I have ever tried on and owned. I absolutely love them...great fit (IMHO), super comfortable and no sliding off my behind. These are the jeans I want to wear every single time I wear jeans.

Lisa - I love the bright color of this jacket. It always makes me happy.

I am very tired and shan't sugar coat it. Although I will welcome sugar.

Yes! My TR's are faves too :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Then I will send you an extra sweet piece of cake!
