WIW: Boho in the Heat

Hung out with my BFF on her patio earlier this afternoon drinking Long Island ice teas, eating fruit salad and yakking about anything and everything...'twas lovely :)

It has been incredibly hot here for the past week and I wanted something comfy, cool but still covered. I thrifted this 100% linen dress a week ago and today was the perfect occasion to wear it. It just slips on over your head but there is a seam under the bust and a bit of shaping in the waist that keeps the dress from being too boxy. It's a purple-blue colour and the linen is just lovely. 

I paired my thrifted cognac thong sandals and my also thrifted cognac leather Ralph Lauren cross body bag with the dress. I love the colour combination of cognac and purple, don't you?

Hey - I just realized my entire outfit is thrifted! Anyway, this is about as boho as I get and is a real departure from my usual style. What do you think? Does it work and is it ok to wear out of the house? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

P.S. Both Dusty Bottom and Gain think I should order more shoes for delivery - they are very much enjoying the Fluevog delivery box :)

    Nice. Good to have time with a BFF.  Linen really is a workhorse in heat and humidity. 

    And I couldn't help but picture LBB and your white "sandal shoes" with it as well.

    Gain and Dusty Bottom steal the show here.  So cute!  Mags loves boxes and tissue too but scratches like she is digging in them until everything is in shreds.
    My light blue linen dress (thrifted) is like the one you are wearing.  I've been going to have it shortened but, seeing how great you look, may have to leave it long for the season.  It's a great breezy look for deck or patio hanging out.
    Your white jacket would also look good with this.

    I am struck by how fab this looks on you even at that difficult length and even with flat sandals.  Wow!  You've given me food for thought.  Isn't linen great in the heat?  Even better than cotton.

    I think your kitties are not just telling you that you need more shoes for delivery; you need more VOGS for delivery!

    Great casual look, perfect for sipping Long Island ice teas. Have you ever tried a Long Beach iced tea? They are made with cranberry juice instead of cola.

    I did indeed leave the house and I found this outfit incredibly comfortable and appropriate for the occasion and the heat. 

    Eliza - I love the idea of my sandal-shoes and LBB with the dress too, which would dress it up a bit for another occasion. Thank you!

    Joy, Donna & Sarah - I wondered if the dress was too long and pinned it to see if I liked it shorter and I actually didn't. The dress lost some of its "flow" and drape when shorter just I left it. I too am surprised it looked ok with flat sandals.

    DonnaF - I must admit the kitties played in the Vogs box more than they played in other boxes. Could it be they have very specific tastes???

    Karie - that drink sounds delicious. Will definitely have to try it!

    It doesn't get any better for a hot day on the patio!
    I especially love that you paired this dress with cognac accessories. The contrast is perfect. YLF!

    I feel cooler just looking at you. Your alluring (Angie's great word) skin makes this outfit so summery. Ha ha, your cats have great taste in shoe boxes. I bet even the boxes are more comfortable when they come from Fluevog.
